Works well in camera, not readable in notebook

Strengths: Speed, capacity, price

Weakness: Not readable by all chipsets (so my notebook PC's internal SD card reader can't see it)

My Dell Inspiron 6000 (and many other Inspiron notebooks and other card readers) uses a Ricoh R5c576A chipset. This chipset can't read this type of RiData card (or Pretec card, or most other brands as well -- I've read others claims that they only buy Sandisk, and that Sandisk always works, but my Sandisk Ultra II 512mb SD card isn't readable in the Inspiron either, so I can't blame RiData). I'm pretty sure this is a Dell / Ricoh problem, but I don't see either of them moving to fix it. However, this card works beautifully in my Aiptek MPVR camera. I just have to connect the camera via USB to my notebook to get the data off of the card. At USB2 speeds, this isn't likely to be any slower than reading directly off of the card anyway, I guess. I just wish I didn't have to use the USB cable.

Ritek 150x High Speed 2GB SD Card

Strengths: extremely fast

Weakness: physical size?

I have been using this card in the 2nd (SD) slot in my Canon 1D Mark II's for a few months now without problems. The speed is OUTSTANDING. It blows away my Sandisk Ultra II CF cards, in both camera write speed and downloading into my Mac. The only downfall is the physical card size - I tend to misplace it often - of course thats no fault of Ridata.

Treo 650

Strengths: Biggest supported by Treo650 (that I know of, some say formatting may allow 4GB) Fastest read/write speed and low price

Weakness: as with most bigger SD cards, many older devices won't recognize them (NONE)

AUDIO
RN_AUDIO
SD_AUDIO

If you don't allready have all three of these files in your card, then just pop it in your computer and create them... then you can copy up to 512MB of MP3 songs into each of them (if you want other formats too then I recomend paying the $14 for pTunes)

THIS CARDIT THE PERFECT SIZE: You now could have about 450 songs or more and you are left with almost half a GB for photos videos documents and apps that can be run from the card (such as Documents To Go, and many others)

2GB (or 1.8GB?) 150x Rocks!

Strengths: Fast! Almost like instant for Digital Photography! Lifetime warranty a plus.

Weakness: None to speak...

I used it for my Canon PowerShot S2IS, it is amazing fast, writings just like in no time! I also take some movie clips to see the performance, excellent! The read and write speed seems to be in a same rate when I use my USB 2.0 crad reader to get pictures (some 150x SD cards are actually one way 150x - read 150x only, write drops to 100x - but what you need the most is the writing speed!)

The only thing is it shows me 1.8GB only in the S2. I am assuming this is a norm when doing the caculation by x1024 (or do I need to low-format it?). In a nut shell, if you are doing hi-res digital photography and need to save time, don't miss this one!

Ridata 2GB SD card, Oh My Storage....

Strengths: 2GB, 150x speaks for themselves. Lifetime warranty.

Weakness: None to speak of.....

I have a Treo 650 and this card gives me enough room for my files and enough mp3s to leave me horse after a days commute. It is like having a 2GB harddrive in my Treo. Sometimes I just look at the card in amazement that it can hold 2GB's.

The only issue I have read is that some card readers don't like the Ridata. I bought the efilm pro cardbus for my Powerbook and it works like a dream.

If you need to buy an SD card, don't mess around. Go ahead and get the best card available. The Ridata is the fastest 2GB available and is less expensive that the Scandisk. The Ridata also has a lifetime warranty.

Added tip for Treo 650 users: When putting files on this card you have to use directories in order for the treo to be able to read more than 500MB. For example: If you are going to use RealPlayer for music, before copying music on the card, use the application to create a "new playlist" This will create a directory(folder) on the card called "RN_AUDIO" You will be able to drop your folder of mp3's into this readable directory.

Edwin, thanks for the advice on the 650. I'd almost given up on buying a 2Gig that worked with it. Many of the other products we deemed unusable by other reviewers. Thanks again for the advice.

Ridata SD card 2Gb

Strengths: Fast and Big storage. Life time warranty

Weakness: Website to register warranty is not updated.

Last time I bought Sandisk 1Gb ultra II for my Palmone 600 but I lost it. Then I needed to get the new one with more storage for music so I was trying to find the biggest memory one. There's a few choice to choose for 2 Gb. Ridata is the lowest price to choose and also come together with the high performance feature 150X. Sandisk 1Gb that I bought at the price almost $100 but this Ridata I paid $140, not too different from the old one but extremely faster. One point that I decided to buy Ridata because of the Lifetime warranty, which pretty disappointed me. There's a restriction that you have to register online to get the warranty. Unfortunately, in the Ridata website, there is no information to register for the product SD card 2Gb. There are just the choice of 256Mb 512Mb and 1Gb. So there's nothing to fill out for obtaining the warranty of 2Gb. But still I registered for 1Gb and using the serial number which is shown on the back of SDcard. I really have no idea that there will be a problem or not if I have to claim warranty in the future, but nothing to loose...

In summary,
Perfomance: working very well not differnet from the other famous brand.
Feature: faster than ULTRA II.

Recommend if you think Life time warranty is not the reason to buy the product. And you can get the best product with the lowest price. This product is the first choice.

Bad card

Strengths: N/A

Weakness: Not readeble by my devices

Unfortunately I can not share the same very good impresion about this card like the others. From the very beginning my card was unusable. I have tried to contact RITECH USA but nobody answers the phone, so I wonder what good the life time warranty if you can not contact anybody. But any way this is not about me is about letting other people know about the reliability of this product. In conclusion from my point of view this card is one of the worst on the market. I would advise other buyers to stay away from it.

on the issue of card readers not reading the 150x 2gb card. it is a common problem in some lesser priced readers to be limited in the volumes (sizes) that can be read. these companies do not think ahead and use limited chipsets. one must be careful here. i can say that if the device can write to it it can read it. i have the following reader devices and all read the card with no issue:
Lexar USB 2.0 multicard reader RW022 rev A (8 months old)
Delkin Firewire CF card reader w/minolta SD-CF 1 cf card adapter (both devices over 3 years old)
ASKA Speedover 32bit card PCMCIA to CF adapter w/minolta SD-CF 1 CF to SD adapter

One in a million (I hope!)

Strengths: 2G and 150x. There is nothing better in terms of write/read speeds yet. Slower cards cost more! I think I found out how they put out these cards so cheap, but that's for the box below:

Weakness: I got a bad one! The quality control needed to put out thousands of these can cost you, and apparently one slipped through. However, for these specs I don't mind returning it till I get a good one!!!

I tried it on my Treo 650 first and it made the phone's application loading times slower! I also couldn't save pictures, video, Word and Exel files to it. As pointed out in a prior post there is also some issues with the RealPlayer application reading the MP3s from the card. However, per that helpfull post, saving the songs in files of 500MB or less (less than 512MB) should do it. However, since I couldn't save the other file types to it I tried it on the SD card slot on my sister's laptop... It locked it up too!

All of this sounds terrible but consider this:
1.I should get a new one very soon.
2.There are many reports, on this and other sites, of people using this card with no problems.
3.The numbers are straight up when you get a card. Size and speed are preety much all you need to know. The number of times the card is guaranteed to re-write is meaningless when you consider that you will not use them up in two years. In two years you'll be able to get the same card for $30 or less and there will be 8G cards for what we are paying now for the 2G.

I am confident that I will get a good one next, and I belive that the speed-to-price of this card is worth that wait.

To be both fair and realistic I will rate this card at one star (completely unsatisfactory) and come back when I get the next one and rate again. Unfortunately not all of us using this card post out rating, if we did I am sure the average would not even be budged by my rating.

junk memory

Strengths: don't expect any better things

Weakness: low quality and bad customer service.

They never do replacement when it has problem.
they just tested some and returned it to you with like new repacking skill.

DO NOT BELIEVE LIFETIME WARRANTY.

Although still trouble with it, they asked me that card reader firmware update needed.

Customer service normally over one month.
IF you are ready to suffer, you may buy it.

Awesomest-est Bang for the Buck.

Strengths: Price, Speed

Weakness: None

I used this card for my Pentax Optio WP. With 5MP and ** quality, I got a whopping 1132 photos or 48 minutes of video on the highest resolution. There were no problems with compatability and the 150x is a definate plus. Name brand quality with generic prices.

Weakness: 2 GB CARD READING AS 1 GB

RIDATA 2GB SD Card

Strengths: Low cost, performance, and comes with protective holder.

Weakness: Excessive and difficult to open packaging.

The product is definitely worth the cost per GB. Performance is equal to others twice the cost. Packaging was difficult to unwrap product. I would recommend this product to anyone.
