Compatability, Warranty.
It isn't an Ultra that is faster, and burns less battery.
Posted Oct 26, 2004 - This memory card can be used for PDAs and for digital cameras, and probably more. I bought mine for a Kodak camera that does 5 megapixel pictures. I debated between the 512M and the 256M. I bought the 256M because two of it equaled the price of the 512M, and I felt that might be better than one big chunk of memory. I did this comparison at the store, but looking at PriceGrabber's prices, the difference would only be about $15 more than I paid for the 256M. I also didn't know about the Ultra version of the Sandisk memory. It is supposed to be faster and uses less camera battery. I studied up on the digital camera here at Pricegrabber, but I didn't look at memory or batteries until after I bought them with the camera. I regret that. I didn't know all my options, and while I lucked out, and barely beat the best Pricegrabber price it was through a package deal where I almost paid twice as much for the camera battery than I would've had I looked at the Pricegrabber price. I haven't maxed out the memory on any camera shoots prior to downloading pictures, so it appears this was just the right size. At least if you're not going on vacation. I'm very happy with its 5 yr warranty, and for how it can work with multiple devices. If I ever upgrade to a larger chip or the Ultra chip, I might use this for something like an MP3 player or my PDA. Had I done my research, I think I may've paid the extra bucks for the Ultra 256 M card. It would've been only about $8 more.
