Great Product
Very fast read and write speeds, no cap to worry about losing, sleek design, U3 software.
Expensive and kind of a pain to get it out of the storage pouch it comes with.
Posted Oct 1, 2007 - I got a cheap SimpleTech 1gb drive a few months ago for $5 after rebate thinking I'd found a great deal. I did not know at the time that flash drives could have significantly different speeds. I learned the hard way when my SimpleTech (designed by the same guys who design Ferrari!) took an hour to transfer a 200mb file. Disastrous. I instantly decided to get a new drive and that I wasn't going to mess around with the cheap stuff this time. I've always known Sandisk to be a top quality brand. This Contour is their newest and fastest drive, writing at 18mb/sec and reading at 25mb/sec. I don't think it is quite as fast as those numbers, but when I transferred that same 200 mb file to it, it averaged over 15mb/sec and took just seconds. EXACTLY what I was looking for in a flash drive. The U3 software is neat and may come in handy I suppose, but I don't really need that stuff. It comes with a nice feature to wipe the drive clean, so I may do that. The retractable plug feature is also really cool. I like not having to worry about a cap. Some reviews say you have to use two hands to slide the plug out and in, but I haven't found that to be true at all. It's a very easy one-handed affair. It looks very cool, with the "Cruzer" name blinking as it reads and writes. I wish I worked in an office setting where I could use it more often and show it off to people. Last thing I'll say is that it is expensive--I paid $51 ($61 before Google Checkout)--but you definitely get what you pay for. If you really care about speed and don't mind good looks, this is the drive to get.
