Transcend currently offers a combo package that includes a SDHC card together with a Compact Card Reader S5 to make transferring data easier than ever. Just slide the SDHC card into S5 and plug it directly into any USB 2.0 (or 1.1) port and is capable of data transfer rates up to 480Mb/s. The reader works just like a standard USB flash drive, and supports SDHC standard for hi-end large capacity memory cards. Transcend’s SDHC + the SD/MMC Card Reader S5 is the perfect combination for your mobile lifestyle. minimize

5 Star Review Great companion for my HF100

Strengths:

Quite a bit of storage Reliable so far

Weaknesses:

None found

Posted 1 year ago - As my MiniDV camcorder was getting quite old (and, relatively bulky and heavy), I started looking for newer camcorder technologies and was very intrigued by the ones that use SDHC cards. After researching quite a bit, I bought the Canon HF100 which has a good set of features and is light. I bought it along with a 2GB SDHC card that was sufficient for day trips, but I needed one that can hold hours of videos. I found the Transcend 16GB SDHC (Class 6) card on AMZN and bought it from there. With it, I was able to store about 5 hours worth of video on the card. I used that during my long Summer trip and transferred its AVCHD contents twice to my laptop. The card has been flawless so far in terms of performance. I've also tried to use it to capture video at the highest resolution (which requires quite a bit of bandwidth/throughput) and this card handled it quite well. I've had this card for about 3 months now. The price of the card has dropped by about 25% since I bought it but it was definitely a good value when I bought it. Other more well known brands (SanDisk, Kingston, etc.) were more expensive at the time and was going as high as 2 to 3 times what I paid for this card. The card reader is definitely also a good addition as it's quite compact and does its job (at USB2 speed).

5 Star Review For my Canon HF100, high capacity, fast read/write speed, good price point

Strengths:

large capacity, fast read & write speeds, usb reader included, lifetime warranty

Weaknesses:

included usb reader SOMETIMES freezes my pc

Posted 1 year ago - I use this SDHC card on my Nikon D80 DSLR camera. After I format it in camera, it shows a whopping 800+ available exposures! That is at the highest resolution setting with RAW NEF+JPG. Write speeds are fast using burst mode (about 3 fps). Card captures with no hiccups (as long as the camera's buffer is not full). Copying (reading the SD card) the files off the card is also fast. I can copy 4 GB of RAW+JPG files in about 8 mins (that's about 2GB/min) using USB2 reader! I mentioned the included USB reader sometime freezes up my pc. I'm not sure why this happens, but it's occasional and I have another SD card reader I can use. So not a big deal. Sometimes (as backup card), I also use this SDHC card for my Canon HF100 hi-def (1080i) AVCHD video camera. This card works great with it. 16GB shows up as 2 hrs and 5 mins of record time at the highest quality (17 mbps). I have captured many clips and a few hours already on this card with no problems. I don't mix the Nikon photos with the Canon videos. I use it on either or. To avoid file corruption, make sure to reformat/re-initialize the card in the camcorder or DSLR prior to using it again. I have done this a few times and I have no issues. This is the 2nd Transcend card that I own (I also have a 4 GB hi-speed SD card for my DSLR). I have no problems with that card. For the price, this card is a great value!

4 Star Review Working with Canon HF100 at FXP mode

Strengths:

Fast , works upon arrival , comes with SDHC reader ,good value , Compatible with Canon HF100

Weaknesses:

Not Much so far , unless it stops working , if so I will update

Posted Apr 4, 2008 - I have 3 Transcend cards so far , none has any problem the last PQI 8GB SDHC was dead after running big file copy test upon arrival and dead beyond recognizable. I have done the same to the Transcend and everything looks great so far. Write speed is top notch. Price is among the best.

4 Star Review Transcend 16GB SDHC - Great Card

Strengths:

High capacity. Fast. Came with USB card reader which supports SD/SDHC

Weaknesses:

None I can think of

Posted Mar 18, 2008 - This is a great card. Transcend is a great company. I've hard good things. I bought this card for my hi-def video camcorder (Panasonic HDC-SX5). I was afraid it wouldn't work because the manual states 8 gb and does not mention it can handle 16 gb. But, I put it in and voila - I can record 167 minutes on this card!! That's a little over 2.5 hrs. I paid about 78 dollars. I just saw it for 66 today. Drats! But it's a great card.

5 Star Review Nice Card at a Great Priced!

Strengths:

Works flawlessly Reasonably fast Very inexpensive

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Mar 18, 2008 - I was a little leery about buying the Transcend 16GB SDHC card. It was half the price of the SanDisk card, and I had never heard of Transcend. I was pleased to discover it works great. My computer is one year old and the Transcend SDNC card works in the built in card reader. Most older computers will not support SDHC disks. The included card reader works well, and it will allow me to use the card with any PC computer. File transfer was reasonably fast. I did not perform any benchmark measurements, but file transfer occurred at about 2.5 minutes per GB on my Vista system. The card comes formatted in FAT32. I was able to speed up the card even more by formatting it as NTFS. Be careful since NTFS may not work in all devices. I don't know how the speed compares with other cards. It is a great value for my needs.

5 Star Review 16GB in the size of a Quarter

Strengths:

Plenty of storage in such a small item. The USB Reader is also a life saver and makes moving files a snap. This Class 6 card is also plenty fast for today's Hi-Def Cameras.

Weaknesses:

So small you could easily lose it? Honestly if your careful with it, there's nothing bad about this memory card/reader combo.

Posted 1 year ago - Perfect for Hi-Definition cameras which require lots of space. I use it for my Canon TX-1 and it works perfectly. The Card Reader makes it a breeze to transfer my movies to my computer, instead of constantly getting out the cable and plugging my camera in every time. It's so cheap now there's no reason not to get this.

5 Star Review Reliable and good speed card

Strengths:

Cost effective

Weaknesses:

None yet

Posted 1 year ago - I bought it to use with my Canon HF100 camcorder. It has a nice speed, never had any issues with recording. I am not sure how it would be in long run though. The card was easily recognized in the SDHC card readers. The card also comes with a USB reader which comes in handy. For a 16GB card, it has been decently priced. I highly recommend it.

5 Star Review Transcend 16GB SDHC - Good Deal

Strengths:

Works great and very fast.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted 1 year ago - This card works great with my new Canon camera. I just purchased a 12 MP camera and my 1 GB card ran out of space very quickly. I also needed a bigger card so I can use my digital camera as a camcorder and this works perfectly for that too. I can take tons of pictures and videos without changing cards. Also compared to smaller cards the price was just right. It comes with a card reader which is great for laptops and any computer that doesn’t have built-in card readers.

5 Star Review 16GB SDHC Memory Card w/Card Reader

Strengths:

Speed. Capacity. Price. Bonus Card Reader.

Weaknesses:

None apparent.

Posted 1 year ago - I purchased this card for use with my Windows Mobile Pocket PC. The recent price drop to $62 for the card with bonus card reader made the deal seem even better. Older card readers can't handle the SDHC units, so the inclusion of one here as a bonus is nice. Card read/write speeds are good, especially for a PDA. This is my second Transcend card purchase. Excellent product.

4 Star Review Transcend 16GB SDHC Card

Strengths:

High capacity

Weaknesses:

None

Posted 1 year ago - I bought Transcend 16GB SDHC Card for my Canon SD 870IS. I didn't notice any difference in terms of speed with my old Kingston 2GB SD card. I can record up to 4GB of video now. It is relatively cheaper than other brand. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Posted May 15, 2008 - My laptop has SD reader, but doesn't support SDHC card. This package comes with a card reader, it is very useful. Using it can record 2 hours 1080p HD. Wish 32gb,64gb affordable SDHC will be available soon.

4 Star Review Good Card, Good Price

Strengths:

Fast, Reliable (so far), USB Adapter

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Apr 29, 2008 - Not only does this card offer a ton of storage, it is fast! I bought this for my Canon Rebel XSI and it works flawlessly. The USB adapter makes it a pretty capable thumb drive too. The only thing I would want from Transcend is an SDHC card with even more storage.
