5 Star Review Great monitor for the price

Strengths:

Bright,clear screen

Weaknesses:

No height adjustment on stand

Posted Apr 14, 2007 - Unbelievable LCD for the money. Large 22" screen with very vivid colors, crisp text and no ghosting. Great for gaming, watching movies or anything else. The magic bright controls are nice preset levels for various uses. From a purely asthetic viewpoint, the monitor housing is very stylish in gloss black with a silver accent along the bottom. My only complaint is that there is no height adjustment on the stand; this will be corrected by and LCD deskmount arm. Don't hesitate to buy this monitor if you're in the market for a larger LCD screen.

4 Star Review Samsung 226bw - Reason To Retire CRT

Strengths:

Great display for the price. The manufacture's rebate did not hurt! Stylish, fast response time, good contrast, space saving and a good value.

Weaknesses:

The Stand! There is no real height adjustment. It's possible to refasten the stand upright to the monitor for a slight increase in height.

Posted Apr 28, 2007 - I had purchased the smaller Samsung 906bw for another computer. Its performance for the price was so impressive that it was a quick decision to pick up the larger 226bw for another desk top. The monitor's size is great for most applications plus it has greatly increased usable desk space. My teenager thinks it is "wow." The blue power light is a bit bright.

5 Star Review Great monitor! Works with video too

Strengths:

Top rated, great price, beautiful image quality, accepts both digital computer and analog TV inputs

Weaknesses:

No TV-specific inputs/outputs, no height adjustment (minor points)

Posted Jul 31, 2007 - I shopped around for monitors before settling on this one, reading every review I could find on widescreen 22" monitors: this one stood out. I went to the store to check it out in person, and it clearly had the best display quality. It works perfectly with my new widescreen laptop at 1680 x 1050 and 60 Hz in true color. It's so bright I have to keep all the lights in the room on, or the contrast is so tremendous it's actually bothersome. But the bonus came when I bought an XBox 360 Elite. I can use a DVI-D Dual Link to HDMI cable to play at 1280 x 1024 (high definition) on the monitor! No need to buy a high def TV for personal viewing. It's also smaller and lighter than many of it's competitors. But it isn't suitable for use as a TV for more than one person: the viewing angle is limited. It's substantially cheaper than it's closest rival: the Westinghouse LCM-22w2.

4 Star Review Beautiful...if you get a good one

Strengths:

Fantastic image quality

Weaknesses:

Some versions of this panel have bad backlight bleed, pixelated DVD playback in dark areas. Power light too bright.

Posted May 7, 2007 - There are three versions of this monitor and you won't know which one you get until you open the box. There is no consensus on which panel is best. However, the "S" version seems to get the most good votes. I originally had an "A" version, and it had terrible backlight bleed and pixelated DVD playback when showing dark areas. I exchanged the "A" and got a "C" panel that has almost no backlight bleed and certainly has no pixelated DVD playback. As far as I can tell, it's beautiful.

4 Star Review Samsung 226BW

Strengths:

The colors are vivid with deep reds and yellows. No dead pixels. Played BF2142 and did not have any ghosting usually associated with LCD screens. It has excellent all around performance.

Weaknesses:

There is no height adjustment. The blue light on the power button shines directly at you, which can be quite annoying and distracting in a dark room.

Posted Mar 8, 2007 - I waited a while to purchase an LCD monitor because I am a gamer and needed one with a low response time. I actually purchased the smaller 206BW and was so pleased with the performance I returned it and bought the 226BW. With a 2ms response time and a high contrast ratio, it works great for fast FPS games. The brightness may be a little too bright as it can hurt your eyes after a while. The 226BW has both DVI and VGA connections and comes with sets of cables. I only with the DVI cable was a foot or 2 longer.

5 Star Review Great Monitor for the Price Point!

Strengths:

Bright, vibrant colors with lots of screen space for the buck.

Weaknesses:

Not 178 degree viewing angles.

Posted Apr 2, 2007 - Bought this one at Best Buy and received an "A" panel with none of the ill effects reported by some others. There has been some debate about "S" and "A" panels with this model Samsung monitor as of late. Some reports on the internet claim that the "S" panel is made by Samsung and the "A" panel is made by AOC, another lcd panel manufacturer. Honestly, I am not sure whether the reports hold any real weight as to the quality of the viewing experience. I have to say it is a better monitor when compared to Viewsonic VX2235WM (a 22" widescreen monitor) and most 22" widesreen lcd monitors on the market. It's closest competitor is the LG L226WT, which is more expensive at this time. You can get better for a whole lot more money (about double for a 24" lcd monitor with 1920 x 1200 resolution!

5 Star Review Fantastic Monitor

Strengths:

Vivid display, 22" widescreen, great contrast ratio.

Weaknesses:

n/a

Posted May 8, 2007 - I just love this monitor; I bought it to replace my 19" Viewsonic VX924 Gaming Monitor. The pictures and colors on this monitor are much better than on my other monitor. I love the 22" display, not too big or too small, for me anyway. Some people complain that this monitor does not have a height adjustment, but it does have a bends-back-& -forth adjustment, which works just fine for me. Samsung makes some great monitors & LCD TVs, and I highly reccommend this computer monitor. I have not watched a movie on it yet, but I can't wait! Be sure to comparison shop for this monitor, as prices can vary, between being $50-$100++tax more expensive at various online or B&M stores. This is the best computer monitor I have ever had.

5 Star Review kick @$$

Strengths:

Bright! Fast! Crisp!

Weaknesses:

telescoping stand would be a nice addition. resolutions could of been higher but for under $400, awsome

Posted Mar 16, 2007 - I have been using the same sony 20 inch crt for 8 years, it was the only thing i have left of one of my first computers so i thought this would be a nicely needed upgrade, and wow i was blown away, my games look 10X better, my eyes are still trying to get used to the size, just purchased another one for a friend.

5 Star Review Excellent Monitor!

Strengths:

22" Large screen with a very classy looking gloss finish around the frame.

Weaknesses:

None - well if I had to nitpick, I would say maybe the buttons are slightly confusing for navigating the menus.

Posted Mar 12, 2007 - I love this monitor. I purchased it from somewhere else before Newegg had stock. The glossy finish around the edge of the screen makes the monitor look very nice! The display is great also. Mine had no dead or stuck pixels. I also have no backlight bleed. And the screen is not stretched as some claim might happen in the forums. It makes the tiny print easier to read and the text is sharp. And unlike some, I actually like the stand very much. Its only missing the ability to move up and down, but it has a base that turns easily because it has a seperate base underneath it that allows it to rotate without actually moving on your desk. The bass also has a glossy finish that looks good. The blue light on the power button doesn't bother me. Although it would if I was sitting at the exact same height as the button. But at an angle (higher up where you normally sit) it looks great. I received an "S" panel. Apparently some of the panels have an "A" on them even though its the same model. Apparently the S is a Samsung panel, and the A is another companies panel.

5 Star Review Samsung 226BW: S-A-C models: No difference!

Strengths:

N/A

Weaknesses:

N/A

Posted Jun 4, 2007 - I called Samsung today and was told by a technical service representative that there is NO difference between the three "versions" of the 226BW monitor. The letters refer to the specific SAMSUNG manufacturing plant at which the panel was produced. S stands for South Korea, A for Mexico and C for (you guessed it!) China. All are manufactured to the exact same specifications and are subject to the same quality controls. . If you compare two monitors with the same location code -- S, A or C -- you are likely to find minor differences between them, as a matter of course. . Apparently someone posted on NewEgg some time ago about tests done with the S monitor, and the legend grew from there.

5 Star Review Samsung 226BW 22"

Strengths:

Brightness, Quick Response Time, Looks Good.

Weaknesses:

This maybe normal in 1680 by 1050 but some full screen videos do not come up right. Only 2 inputs.

Posted Mar 26, 2007 - The Samsung 22" monitor is a beautiful display for the price. The quick 2ms response time makes it perfect for games. It doesn't look cheap. I wish wall mounts were standard with every purchase. I bought a new desk just to make it feel up to date. I never buy anything at full price. I was happy to see many deals just 2 weeks after it was released. I came from a 17" CRT. There is no possible way to explain the advantages. Too many. If nothing comes out that is better then this unit including price in the next 3 months then it is still a good time to get one now.

1 Star Review Unbearable

Strengths:

Resolution, Dead Pixel Policies

Weaknesses:

Back light bleed, Support, Color

Posted Oct 2, 2007 - Initially impressed by the zero dead pixel policy, I purchased one of these units. I have now had several replacement attempts by Samsung and have now given up trying to get this unit fixed. My major concerns are as follows: 1. The blacklight bleed cannot be over emphasized. (Although not strongly visible under strong office lighting, it is overwhelming in low light or non-fluorescent lighting conditions. This is no good for movies or people who like black desktop backgrounds) 2. (In Australia) Samsung can do the zero dead pixel policy buy an accident in their repair process. They don't have the technical people able to verify the fault with the product, so they simply ask you to ship it back and they send out a second hand replacement. No questions asked. However.. the second hand unit, as I have learnt, are not tested either. So in practice I found that Samsung just kept sending out replacement units until I gave up. I'm very disappointed with Samsung as the specs on this unit are impressive, and not many companies are doing the zero dead pixel policy. One other issue was the color, which was washed out on the replacement units as well as the original. Might be better to look at something without the zero dead pixel policy but a better backlight and better color reproduction.

5 Star Review 226BW is great LCD ever.

Strengths:

High resolution so hugh work place, high contrast and brightness, DVI and Analog inputs.

Weaknesses:

Unadjustable height but it's okay to me.

Posted Apr 23, 2007 - I bought 22" 226BW for upgrading my 19" 931BW. Both are those of the best LCDs. I recommend to anyone wants to upgrade their monitor. Buy.com right now has best price.
