Posted Nov 24, 2007 - i'm upgrading from a 5 year old 17in samsung crt monitor to this. WOW what a difference. the colors are crisp and sharp and the monitor is so bright i had to turn the brightness settings down. the build quality is excellent and one of the main reasons i stuck with samsung when my crt needed replacing. i'm not a gamer so i can't comment on the monitor's gaming capabilities

Posted Jan 3, 2008 - This monitor took some getting used to cause it's so bright. But just adjust brightness setting on front control panel. Also had to download video drivers to get the native resolution and 16:10 format. Games are awesome! You'll need to tweak your text in windows xp as it's pretty small but overall you can't go wrong with samsung.

Posted Jan 16, 2008 - strength: clean and clear monitor panel wide monitor is great for photoshop or autocad work. speaker works ok but not that great like stereo speaker. decent price for functions weakness: weak support. compare with monitor weight it's support part is only thin plastic assembly. so when the table is shaken monitor is also shaken a lot. it doesn't have rotation function. so when you rotate it also rotate support and it makes scratch sound. it should have some sort of rotation pad or something. kind of average design. it also doesn't have any usb port on it.

Strengths:

Easy to install; completely compatible with Windows XP; great display; color are true. Built in speakers.

Weaknesses:

I did not really find any weaknesses. The unit was a little more expensive than others; but it is high quality.

Posted Nov 23, 2007 - The instructions for installing the monitor were extremely well layed out. I have a Windows XP systems and the hardware was immediately recognized. The adjustments are easy and the quality of the display is better than I have seen before. The three year warranty is also a plus.

5 Star Review Addition by Subtraction

Strengths:

I replaced a 19" Dell CRT for my Dell Dimension PC. Big difference. Big screen and a bit more colorful. Easy to install. Improved desk space. Speakers included.

Weaknesses:

I could not get the recommended resolution of 1680 x 1050. The closest I can get is 1600 x 1200, which still looks really good. It is making upgrade my graphics card...more $$$.

Posted Dec 23, 2007 - Besides the resolution issue, which is minor, I gained screen real estate and desk real estate (by removing my clunky desktop speakers because this monitor has them included!) by getting this great monitor.

1 Star Review Smoldering Samsung SyncMaster 22" Monitor

Strengths:

Was nice until it smoldered itself to death

Posted 2 months ago - This is a heads up for anyone with a Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM monitor - mine started smoldering and filled the house with the fumes of burning plastic - which are poisonous (especially for children and pets). I was lucky that I was up late and was able to unplug it as soon as I realized where the smell was coming from. (the billowing smoke from the back of the monitor was a dead giveaway). What if I had been upstairs asleep? (which is where my children were). What if I had not been home? Our Fire Dept said that anything hot enough to start smoke billowing from burning plastic could ignite to a fire. Samsung Customer Relations didn't care - "just send it in and we will fix it". The smell of the burning plastic clung to my carpet and furniture. I had to rent a Rug Doctor to get the smell out of the house. So play it safe - Please turn off your Samsung monitors when you are not home - MORE IMPORTANTLY - when you go to sleep!!. If you are looking at a new monitor - please keep my experience in mind.

Strengths:

It's big It's bright It looks sharp

Posted 1 year ago - Overall I am very happy with my 2220WM. I read many reviews before purchasing and they are right. This monitor is VERY bright. You have to turn the brightness down after you start. Huge difference over my old 17" CRT. Graphics are clear. As you might expect the speakers are not the best. for me a bit tinny but maybe a better sound card would help. Would be nice if it had a mute button. Biggest disapointment was in loading the drivers. If you do graphics or photo editing, 1 piece of advise. Don't! My 2 Adobe programs, Photoshop LE and Photoshop Elements 4.0 both would not work correctly. I could use the menu functions to adjust pictures but could not add text, draw, etc. I did get a message from Photoshop Elements saying the driver was corrupt and the white was more tan than white. I wound up just disabling the driver and I have not noticed any real difference in the picture quality. I got mine for under $300 from Costco. Overall I am very happy with the monitor and would recommend it.

Posted Apr 27, 2008 - I bought this Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM Black 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor with dell desktop together, and it works very well till now. This monitor is audio enabled and the sound is pretty good. I even haven’t used the speaker again when I began to use it. But in the first day, I heard the noise from the monitor when I powered my computer and the monitor. Don’t worry about it, the noise disappeared after that day. With a TV tuner, it became a wonderful LCD TV, and I even can enjoy TV program on my computer. You can still see things very clearly, even you can sit several feet from the monitor

Posted Mar 1, 2008 - I use this LCD mainly for watching movies and tv shows and it's great for that, love the widescreen, great res for full desktop features. Its bright for movies and games. I would this for a 22" and not that cheap LCD it would at least have a swivel, but it doesn't. Nonetheless it's a great LCD. 4 out of 5.

Posted Feb 9, 2008 - Right out of the box, the picture setting is great. However, you can "dim" it down a little bit, it could be too bright for some. Work great with windows Vista. I'm pretty sure I'll be enjoy this monitor for years to come (with great Samsung warantee).

Speakers are ...so so. 1000:1 contrast ratio.

Posted Jan 18, 2008 - Samsung name is highly regarded for its display capability. And this monitor is one good example. The color is spot-on right out of the box. It's Vista Premium certified, so it works pretty well with all the new vista machine. The response time is 5ms which is good enough for any game out there. The contrast ratio of 1000:1 is a little bit low comparing to some of the high-end 22" monitor out there. Overall, I'm happy with this monitor and planning to use it for a long time since it comes with a 3yr warranty.

Posted Jan 15, 2008 - I got a great deal on this monitor and so far I am very happy with the quality of the display! Very bright, much larger than I expected, vibrant colors and decent response time. I would say that the base leaves more to be wanted. I'm used to the Dell monitors with height adjustment so that's a negative. Speakers is a nice touch, but probably won't replace any of your pre-existing ones.

Posted Dec 19, 2007 - I used to have Samsung 19' which was very impressive for me. I want to get bigger one which is samsung 22'. It is so bright and vivid. When I watching a movie, It look like watching big 60' LCD. I'm so happy with this monitor.
