The Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch Flat Panel LCD Monitor is a wide aspect desktop display that redefines the performance of LCD displays with a stylish Dell industrial design, and advanced functionality. Watch DVDs in natural format and run multiple applications simultaneously. Improve productivity with less scrolling and toggling. The 2005FPW wide aspect Flat Panel LCD also provides an excellent option for video editing and 3D imaging as both source and destination video can be viewed in a single window! With 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 located on the side, the Dell 2005FPW gives users convenient access points to plug in devices such as keyboards, digital cameras, secondary hard drives and printers. It also supports advanced features such as PIP (picture in picture) and PBP (picture by picture) and can be activated with a touch of a button on the front of the display. With 5.1 inches (130 mm) of height adjustment virtually every user can adjust the display to their exact comfort level and help reduce eye and neck strain. minimize

1 Star Review Money better spent elsewhere

Strengths:

low price, brightness for text, sharp text

Weaknesses:

very bad backlight leakage, broke within a week

Posted Jan 4, 2006 - Terrible customer service = I had to call several numbers to get a replacement. 1) call technical support and obtain a case #, then 2) call customer care to resolve issue Poor quality = all 4 corners have bright white leakage especially the bottom left. Dead Monitor = the LCD monitor shut down on its own on day 5 and i had to turn it back on. And on day 6, it totally shut down, i couldn't turn it back on. Waiting for new LCD, but not holding my breath. After 30 days they start replacing it with refurbished monitors. I'm very disappointed in Dell for selling garbage products.

Strengths:

The clear picture. And the small amount of desktop space it uses.

Weaknesses:

None.

Posted Jun 16, 2005 - I am very happy with my Dell Monitor. Easy to read text and more viewing area so it is easy to have many windows open and viewable at the same time. And you couldn't beat the price.

Strengths:

Size, inputs, features, quality of picture

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted May 21, 2005 - This monitor is great. No bleeding I can tell even with 1st person shooter game. Allows for 90 degree rotation to vertical mode, picture in picture controls on the panel using 2 of 4 video inputs. Telescoping/various tilting stand allows flexibilty anywhere I put it. Ordered optional speakers that can attach right onto the monitor and plug into the monitor. Like that it was optional because I was not sure at the time if I would want it. Got this monitor on a Dell sale for roughly $400 and it is worth every dollar for size and quality.

Strengths:

Excellent brightness, contrast and viewing size.

Weaknesses:

Heavy, relatively large footprint for an LCD screen.

Posted May 2, 2005 - The Dell 2005 is an excellent screen based on perfect size (just over 20" in widescreen format), with ideal contrast and brightness. My unit did not have a dead pixel which is the one thing that worries me about buying LCD screens. The back of the unit incorporates a cable management system yo keep the various cables together. A further advantage with this unit is that it allows for the plugging in of USB devices on the side of the screen (eg USB drives) which can come in handy. The unit comes with standard screen and DVI plugs depending on your computer/video card setup. Overall this unit is highly recommended.
