Strengths: Gameplay, Create-A-Wrestler, music, Graphics, variety of matches
Weakness: Story Mode, no commentary, only 4 guys in the ring at once, no backstage area
If you have played WWE No Mercy or WWE Wrestlemania 2000 on N64, then you will be familiar with the control mechanics of this game. The controls are almost identical--except for a few modifcation that improves the gameplay. I was a big fan of THQ's WWE series on N64, so I'm very pleased with this title.
There are several drawbacks though that they better fix for the sequel. Only up to 4 guys can be in a match not including the referee, which totally blows since the ps2 WWE series has up to 6 guys. There also no backstage area. And the worst thing of all is the that story mode is a piece of trash. The cutscene is made of up of text--so you will be doing a lot of reading. Def Jam: Fight for NY has voiceovers for their cutscenes, which made the story mode more enjoyable-so next year's edition of WWE DOR better have voiceovers.
Overall, this is a very good game. I highly reccommend this title for all those who were big fans of THQ's WWE titles on N64.

TopStrengths: Great wrestling engine, nice graphics and tight controls.
Weakness: Weak storyline mode and a lack of playable characters.
Featuringa tuned up graphics engine, a better array of wrestling moves and a tighter, more focused story mode, DOR has everything a wrestling fan could ask for. Well almost everything, the sory mode can be hard at times and there's a lack of playable characters when compared to other WWE games. HOwever it's still a very good wrestling title, the best there is on Gamecube.

TopStrengths: Greatly improved over Wrestlemania XIX
Weakness: Lacking in match types and roster
WWE wrestling has returned to Nintendo Gamecube with improvements over its predecessor.
In terms of graphics, every wrestler is detailed fairly well. The animations are well done and definitely are in many ways better than what has been seen in the Smackdown games. The sound is also pretty generic and as you would expect in a wrestling game.
The game's gameplay is particularly nice. The game plays extremely well and some of the matches are extremely well done such as the Royal Rumble elimination. On the other hand, match types like the cage are cumbersome and long.
While this game may still not compete with the Smackdown series it is still a huge improvement. The game has a decent amount of match types, a decent Create a Superstar mode, and overall is a fairly good wrestling game.
Definitely recommended for Gamecube wrestling fans, and at least a rental is deserved.

TopStrengths: It's WWE Wrestling, One of the last games that the Rock will be in, The intros are awesome, and every type of match is here including bra and panty matches.
Weakness: The Rap/Rock soundtrack seems a bit out of place for a wrestling game, the create a player may be a little too in depth for some people.
WWE games seem to be a dime a dozen and this game doesn't really do anything to break the mold. While this game doesn't really add anything new to the genre, it doesn't really do anything bad for the genre either. The game has a very solid single player mode, and matches a plenty. My complaints are that during some of the multiple wrestler matches things can get a little too hectic, and the fact that when you do a finisher, a lot of times your opponent will get right back up. Maybe I'm asking for a little bit more realism in that aspect. All and all a pretty good effort, a lot better than the last WWE entry on the Gamecube. If you're a fan of the sport and all you have is a GC, go for it, but if you have a PS2, I would try a game in the Smackdown series or Rumble Roses.

TopStrengths: Very Similar to the No Mercy's grappling engine
Weakness: Poor roster, presentation not as great as Smackdown series
I'd give this game a 5 in rating just because its my favorite wrestling engine. The spirit meter has stayed on in the Gamecube series of WWE games and thats what keeps me coming back. However theres a lot of things that can be held against it. No matter how much I love the engine, the presentation and extras just does not compare to the PS2 WWE games. There just isn't a lot of extras compared to the previous WWE game on Cube. The story mode is certainly an improvement, but really, DOR leaves you wanting so much more.

TopStrengths: Bra + Panties Match
Weakness: None really
This is the best wrestling game I've ever played. The graphics are excellent, and the controls work well with the Gamecube controller. The characters are all developed and have great moves. Plus, there's a bra and panties match, how awesome is that?

TopBeing a semi-wrestling fan, I heartily enjoy this game. While I'm not completely faithful in watching the wrestling TV shows, I've always been a major fan of wrestling games.
The only problem is my own fault- I didn't buy this until July 2005 and by now the rosters are slightly out of date.
Great game, can't wait to buy the next iteration with updated rosters and new tweaks.

TopStrengths: Deep custom character creation mode, involving story mode, excellent gameplay.
Weakness: Smallish roster, only one story mode, limited entrance customizations in terms of songs, etc.
WWF No Mercy for the N64 is easily the greatest wrestling game ever made. DoR copies the excellent gameplay but takes the graphics and customization options up a notch. The major flaw is the lack of several storyline selections (ie Tag Team path, Intercontinental path) or the ability to play as an established Superstar. The addition of new match types is most welcome, as well.
Otherwise, highly recommended.

TopStrengths: Good graphics, solid gameplay. The story mode is also pretty original and lengthy, although it doesn't give you a lot of choices to make.
Weakness: The roster of wrestlers to choose from is fairly short, although all of the "big names" are on there it is missing some stars like JBL or the Dudley Boyz.
This is a pretty solid wrestling game all around. The create a wrestler mode is fairly deep, and you can make some intricate customized entrances, choosing the camera angles, lighting, pyro, etc. for several segments of the entrance. The gameplay is pretty solid for the game too, better than that in the Smackdown! series. The list of wrestlers available is disappointing, although all the big stars are in there with music and gimmicks current as to when the game was released. There are also some unlockable legends, which is a nice bonus.

TopStrengths: Legends like Andre the Giant and Bret Hart.
Weakness: Missing too many superstars, entrance control.
The creators made a bunch of changes from Wrestlmania 19, some good, but many not. Where are Stone Cold and Hogan? They're not even available as unlockable characters! And the Divas, where's Torrie? How can you add a bra and panties match but leave out Torrie? They went back to a wrestling format instead of having to fight security guards and construction workers, but I liked those stages in Wrestlemania 19, especially when playing friends. We had more fun throwing each other in front of cars and such more than just wrestling.

TopStrengths: Lots of wrestlers (about 50), 4 player support, lots of different match types, deep story mode
Weakness: Afew wrestlers missing that should have been in the game, Story mode while good could have been better
WWE Day of Reckoning is a GameCube exclusive WWE wrestling game developed by Yukes who also did Wrestlemania XIX for the GameCube. One thing that was added to Day of Reckoning that wasen't present in Wrestlemania XIX is that it has a story mode. You can't play story mode as any of the established superstars unfortanatly but it makes sense since you start out as a nobody and work your way up to becoming a WWE Supterstar so you have to use a generic wrestler already made or use your own custom character. The create-a-wrestler mode in Day of Reckoning is also very detailed and as deep as any wrestling game on the GameCube and is much better then the one in Wrestlemania XIX. They also included lots of extras such as just about every major type of match & venue known to the WWE and also included a tutorial mode to the game. I would suggest WWE Day of Reckoning to anyone looking for a wrestling game on the GameCube as it is as good as it gets on the cube as far as wrestling games go.

TopStrengths: Cool wrestling game idea.
Weakness: Not that much fun.
I can't believe that this game was $49.99 just a few months ago. It is definitely not worth that price. But if you can get it for a lot cheaper, than maybe if you are a WWE wrestling fan, go for it. It is only available for the Nintendo Gamecube.

TopStrengths: Graphics and story line.
Weakness: Fighting gets tedious.
This game is similar to Wrestlemania 19. I liked Wrestlemania 19 a lot. So it's same goes for this game. The story line is really good. It is better than Wrestlemania 19. The story line did improve a lot. The graphics are really nice on the Cube. I will get WWE DoR2 when it comes out.

TopStrengths: Improved Gameplay over the past WWE Gamecube wrestling games.
Weakness: Music can get to the point of being annoying.
Yukes does it again. Another solid wrestling game for the Nintendo Gamecube. The create a wrestler mode is extremely deep. The story mode is average at best. The gameplay however is getting better and better (grappling, etc.).

TopStrengths: Good graphics, create a wrestler, story mode, feels more like a "simulation" compared to PS2 Smackdowns.
Weakness: Bad collison detection, roster is small, presentation could be better.
For years, Yukes has been producing quality wrestling games on the PS2 but has totally missed the mark with the Gamecube WWE games. With Day of Reckoning, it seems Yukes is finally on the right track. The game plays much better this year and in a sense, I prefer it to the PS2 Smackdown games because it feels more like a "simulation" and less like an arcade game. The graphics are pretty good but the collision detection has a lot to be desired. The story mode is quite fun because you have to create your own wrestler and have him climb the ranks. While this is a really cool story mode, it's unfortunate they don't have a story mode for all the real wrestlers in the game. Speaking of wrestlers, there are only 40 wrestlers to choose from in the game. This is way too small and they should have included more. Of course, you can create them but it's not the same. If you are a WWE fan and only have a Gamecube, then you should get Day of Reckoning. It's the first decent wrestling game on Gamecube.

TopStrengths: Comprehensive CAW maker & good story mode.
Weakness: While the CAW is detailed, this detail also makes it painful, it gets repetitive after awhile and it's definitely not something you're going to want to sit & play for a long while.
The above pretty much says it all, it does have a great storyline to it and the movelists are all there, but like the Wrestlemania games before it, it gets old pretty fast. If you have a PS2, I'd stick w/ the SD! series, esp. since the buttons are so bad,

TopStrengths: Excellent Graphics. Love the entrances.
Weakness: Not enough characters and the ring is way too small. Kinda clunky controls.
I was looking for a wrestling game for the gamecube and I thought I had found it, but....nope. This is definitely a rental at the most.

It takes perseverance to amount to anything in pro wrestling. The country is full of those who never amounted to anything in the business -- yours truly included. Likewise, it takes the same commitment to succeed in the pro wrestling video-game biz. THQ has been slowly building its skills on the current console generation with baby steps in some respects, and even a few steps backwards.

Talk to a Nintendo fan about wrestling games and they're bound to reminisce about the Aki-developed WCW and WrestleMania titles for N64. These games even today are fondly remembered for their arcade-quick play mechanics and user-friendly grapple systems. The combination sounds simple enough, but successfully re-brewing the formula has over the years proven next to impossible for developers....
