Considering the positive and negative reviews posted, I decided to chance it. I ordered my Minolta S-414 along with a 256 Memory Card on Sunday, received my confirmation via email on Monday. To my surprise, my camera arrived on Wednesday after-noon. They say life is a gamble, so at times we must be willing to take the chance. Overall Rating

I will never order here again! What a waste of time! I ordered a Fuji FinePix 2650, because Gateway had the best price. Well no wonder why - they sent me a Fuji FinePix A200, a much worse, cheaper camera. It says clearly on my receipt when I paid for it, "Fuji FinePix 2650". And it says "FinePix A200" on the camera that they sent to me. Now, I have to go through the trouble of returning it. And, its going to take me that much longer to get the right camera. TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! Ordered a Kodak Digital camera 2/29 and was told 3/5 ship. On 3/6 was told 3/16 ship. On 3/9 got automated email cancelling my order due to "supply constraints" offering instead to sell me a Gateway camera at twice the price!! Bait and switch merchant who doesn't honor their ads. THIS IS THE WORST ONLINE STORE IN THE WORLD. I ordered a product on 3/4/04 (item not important- Palm Executive Multi-Function Stylus). It was "IN-Stock". Received confirmation same day, with est. arrival date of 4/2/04. There is no way it takes a month for the item to be delivered. That is crazy. I could manufacture the thing quicker. The same day- 3/4/04, I send them back email to cancel the order- and they said it was too late to cancel- beyond their control. DO NOT BUY FROM GATEWAY.COM Overall Rating

I ordered a cable and was guaranteed free shipping as indicated by pricegrabber. Phoned in order and was told by Gateway salesman that I would receive free shipping. Gateway overbilled me and charged me shippng. If they can't bill a customer properly for one stupid cable, how can they be trusted to build a computer system? Waiting for the refund. Overall Rating

Ordered a DC-M50 Digital Camera. It was awful. The view through the viewfinder was partially blocked by the lens!!! New pictures I took do not appear on the digital viewer. These are defects designed into the camera!!! I returned the camera soon thereafter according to the shipping instructions I got from Gateway. After 6 weeks of waiting and 3 more LONG, LONG phone calls to Gateway I am still awaiting my refund (The purchase price minus a 15% restocking fee). What a crappy company. Overall Rating

Ordered M275XL on 12/31/03. First given arrival date of 1/14, then 1/28, now 2/3. Meanwhile, some others received their unit who ordered at a later date than me. The automated order tracking never tells you anything, so each time I have to call Gateway and wait 15 minutes to speak with a rep to find this out. Then, a rep said she would upgrade my shipping for the trouble. I called back & another rep said they only ship ground and I won't get the upgraded shipping! TERRIBLE!!! Overall Rating

Gateway is not what it used to be. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with an online order. The Customer Service reps are idiots. Gateway has no idea what it's vendor, which is where your order orders come from, are doing. I ordered 2 SimpleTech 512MB RDRAM 800-40 memory cards, but what I received were 2 1066-32P cards. The wrong card was in the correct pack. Now they are trying to charge me restocking fees! I am almost to the point of taking legal action. Go somewhere else! Overall Rating

I ordered a laptop. I was told it would ship in about 2 weeks but it arrived inside a week. So far, the laptop works fine. However, they sent me MS Works instead of MS Works Suite and no invoice included. I called the sales rep to request an invoice and also to send me the Works Suite software. Got the invoice, still waiting on software. Tech support couldn't answer upgrade questions. Although I purchased the extended warrenty, I am fearful it will be a nightmare if I ever need to use it. Software said in Stock on website. Called Gateway Customer Service to verify that is was indeed in stock. Customer Service even double checked that it was in stock and available for delivery. So I placed order online. Email order comformation (next day) had delivery date in 10 weeks! Called Gateway and all of a sudden, no stock. Low price on website to get you on phone and try to quick sell you (asked about computer age, digital camera, printer). Overall Rating

At first I tried ordering online, but unfortunately the shipping was not free so I had to call the 1-800 number and finally I had a sales rep on the phone to do the order. The sales rep. was very courteous and helped me out a lot...he didn't even tried to make me buy anything extra. Now I am waiting on my digital camera. I should be expecting it soon but if I don't, then I am going to be very, very, very frustrated!! So wish me luck and I hope my next review will be a good one!!! Overall Rating

I am very suprised by all the negative feedback. This is my third order from Gateway, and I know of a couple of other experiences besides. This time I ordered a replacement battery for my digital camera and was VERY satisfied. I personally have not had ANY problems, nor has anyone I have known. Bait & Switch! On November 29th I ordered 3 Kensington Turboballs Item #: 6603794 for $10.95 each. After a few days I decided to check on my order to see if it had shipped. It linked me to a page that said to call customer service. I was told that they no longer stocked them, so I cancelled my order. I then searched to find another low price on this item only to find that Gateway still has this item, but now it is $35.95. This was my first Gateway experience. Never again!! Overall Rating

Gateway is not the company it used to be. I have Gateway laptop and desktop computers, as well as peripheral devices. Gateway customer service, once you've bought from them, is so poor that I will never use them again. After recently spending over 30 hours on the phone with Gateway, my latest problem is STILL not corrected - in spite of their full warranty they sold me. Buyer Beware. It's much easier to buy a new computer elsewhere than to get Gateway to repair one of their faulty ones. Overall Rating

I ordered a pair of speakers from Gateway Monday morning. Received an e-mail within a few monutes noting that they were processing my order. Within three hours I received another e-mail confirming my order. And that afternoon, I received a final e-mail saying that the speakers had been shipped. This final e-mail gave me tracking numbers also. This morning, Wednesday, I received the order. Extremely quick shipping when considering that the shipping was free. Overall Rating

Dont buy from gateway unless you are completley sure you wont return. the digital cam i bought was on backorder a month, the rep said if i wanted to return it i could. didnt tell me about the fifty dallar restocking fee they charge.they called my house late one evening for a survey,i had to pick it up even though i paid the shipping.the rep wouldnt return my call.when i called to return the rep was very rude and placed me on hold for fifteen minutes. and to boot the camaras not that great. If I could give Gateway no stars, I would. I bought a $5000 desk computer in '98. It crashed and burned in 3 months. The backup tape drive malfunctioned and I lost EVERYTHING. An entire week on the phone with different techs who couldn't get anything working. Finally, a rep came out & replaced the hard drive. He installed it--w/o anything on it--no software, nothing. I had to install everything. Six months later, it crashed for good. I gave up & got a Dell. Overall Rating

To the guy who purchased Solo9550 Hey , I got the same problem , my batter broke after one year(I am not sure it is a year or maybe less) And I thought it is only a rare case so I purchase one more battery from gateway. I ordered some memory on back order ( 1 month shipping time ). Two days later I change my mind. I cancel the order, two weeks later the memory shows up anyway. I refuse delivery, a week goes by, I hear nothing. Gateway says they don't have the part ( even though ups says they do ) Get that straightened. Im still waiting on the money a month later ( all toll ). After 2 calls, gateway credits it back to my mastercard ( 7 to 10 business day wait there ). What a joke. Overall Rating

I bought Solo9550 laptop from them, it came w/ a white permament line accross the screen. This is my business laptop, right? I had to mail it back to them, and be w/o a laptop that I paid good money for. Eventually I got a replacement, and it has been working fine. The battery, however, expired after 13 months, I used it very rarely. I was told that they do not expect more than a year out of a battery! I will not do business w/ Gateway and I tell everyone.
