Purchased Canon S50, Gateway after sending me a final confirmation claimed a pricing error and cancelled the order. Customer service E-mail seemed hostile and phone system impossible to venture through to get help. I left a prior rating but it seems to have disappeared when Gateway became a featured merchant. I am still trying to collect, placed a final call on Thursday and no response, and sending final collection letter. The issue is still not resolved. |

Purchased an Canon S50 camera using price grabber. They called me to verify the city and a day later they e-mailed me cancelling the order claiming a pricing error occured. All this after they sent me a final order confirmation with an est arrival date. Gateway sent a hostile E-mail letting me know this. I e-mailed them back and they sent another un professional e-mail. I am trying one last call and may try small claims court. They seem to not care and are hostile. |

Big, time-wasting original sound card problems. Followed support instructions to the letter by using Restoration Discs...was prompted for a third disc that I did not have. Live support person REFUSED to sell me this Restoration Disc 3 or to download it onto the machine, stating that it was proprietary...wha???? Also, they did not bother to tell me that using the Restoration discs creates a NO SOUND SITUATION BUG WHICH HAS TO BE FIXED BY A PATCH! AVOID!! |

I work for GW. I'm in tech support. I can promise you I try my best with every call I get. I have extreme patience, which i'm commented on nightly. On top of that, I'm a senior technician on the floor, so I get to take over those nice supervisor calls where clients are just fed up. I try my best, but everyone has to remember that, the only actual GW parts are the stickers. Everything inside the system comes from another company, like Intel, Sony, Panasonic are just to name a few. |

Tried doing the online thing didn't work, so had to talk to rep. Did. Reps were friendly but never called back. Shipping is horrible literaly taking 6 days ground, they try to make sales and make you think you need more, and they don't go over your sale correctly! I'm still trying to get a hold of my rep to fix my purchase and financing info. Next time I'm dealing with someone IN PERSON, no more phone reps, or online e-mails. |

I don't know what the fascination with Dell is. I use one at work an it crashes at least three times a day. The last two computers I purchased were Gateways for home use. My most recent one was purchased in Jan 2002 and I still love it. The 18" flat panel display is wonderful. I am truthful when I say my first Gateway never crashed on me and my new one crashes very infrequently. I have worked with Compaqs, Dells, IBMs, and my advices is to buy a Gateway. |

Fast, efficient handling of 2 separate orders. Only problem is that web site is completely out of synch with actual status. On both orders, I received the product (within 3 days both times I should add) and then received notice of shipping several days later. You'd think the company could have a better coordinated process and web site. |

I love my computer but they treated me like a jerk when i went in there ...all they wanted was a sale and being a girl assumed i knew nothing...well i didnt..lol, so they sold me a celeron.i wanted a flat screen .so i got that too,but a penyium 4 was only 100.00 dollars more. I found that out online after i recieved my celeron.i called very upset because i told them i wanted the best they had?????Well they made me pay again for shipping to send the old one back and get my new one |

This laptop is definetely one of the finer models out there today. Again, like others, I got my 400X in store for the same reasons previously said. The only thing is that I got the system at $1499 in late December, but I lost the power that they now have today (2.5Ghz, 40GB), but it doesn't worry me because I'm so happy I wouldn't give it up for anything. Excellent Performance in Sales from Gateway. |

I'm very please with the service and comp that I bought from Gateway. I actually bought it at the Gateway Store cuz I didn't wanna wait a week or 2 for it to arrive (plus, as with any company, you'll get 'back orders', 'not in stock's, and plain ol' mistakes). I've contacted support once via email with a 'curiosity question' and they responded quickly. Great system, and I would and do recommend often (I work for a major ISP and am asked for recommendations often). |

I am on my 2nd Gateway computer. My first one was a 550 III, which is three years old this month. I was starting to have dll error messages come up so I took it to the Gateway store to have it looked at. I had one month left on the warranty. They found bad sectors on the 10 gig hard drive. Well since they don't sell 10 gig hard drive anymore, they replaced it with a 20 gig hard drive. It was covered by the warranty so I think I made out pretty good. My new Gateway is a 700s and it rocks!! |

my new laptop arrived with a cracked chasis and a broken hard drive. when i called customer service, the rude inbred women told me "if you think you're gettin' a new computer you're wrong" and to take it to the gateway store for service. i was told three weeks. well 8 weeks later my computer was ready. they shoved it in my hands and me out the door into the snow without so much as a bag for my computer. well to make a long story short,2 years and 4 hard drives later i finally bought a dell. |

Waited two weeks for them to tell me that my "instock" camera wasn't ever coming, inspite of two e-mails confirming my order and estimating arrival dates. They make the new hire 14 year old stockboy at local store look pretty good right now! |

I ordered 2 HP 5550 deskjet printers and glad I did. Not only were they a low price on the units, but got the shipping for free too. Was worried about purchasing based on other reviews, but took the chance. Not only did the purchase go smoothly via their web site, they responded 3 times within the first 24 hours of purchase. Thanking me and letting me know when they expected to ship. I purchased on a Saturday, and they shipped on a Monday, the printers arrived on Thursday. Excellant job! |

ok since most people on here are just rating gateway on their computers' performance, i will share my positive experience with them. i've had a gateway computer forever and a day, it was a 233 mhz and it kept going and going. only recently i got a new computer. in the gateway we had to replace a motherboard and modem (both of which got fried in a lightning accident :S ) and the customer support there talked me through it all, they always helped me when i needed it. i applaud gateway. |

Absolutely the worst I have ever expereinced and I am very easy to please. Ordered a camera online listed as "in stock" and given delivery date, then told back ordered then told not available. Spent hours on the phone to address. Promises were made to provide me credit for my trouble, but later learned I will receive nothing. If problem,expect to be handed off to robot like coustomer service folks with polished lines, but with no authority to offer any real assistance. |

Bought item from accessory store (a laser printer), after ordering I saw another merchant had same thing for $20 cheaper (both had free shipping). Called to ask if they would price match and they wouldn't do it. I've bought alot of stuff from them, but I won't do business with again. Other merchants are MUCH more concerned about keeping their customers happy. |

With all the negative reviews, I thought I would relate my positive experience with Gateway. I ordered a 25' serial extension cable on 02/23/03. Gateway had the best price with no tax or shipping. I used the Standard Ground shipping, which the website stated would take 7-14 days. I received the cable 3 days later on 03/26/03. I will definitely use these guys again! |

Bought a computer from them a little while ago. Started having problems with the modem infact a few times we had to literally unplug the darn thing to get it to shut off. Had to take the tower to the Gateway store which is about a 30 minute drive had to wait over a week to get it back and they did NOTHING to it. Needless to say the modem was NOT fixed and eventually quit working all together. Now my mom has the computer at her work. WE bought a Dell. |

Ordered a Canon Powershot S30 through their website. Through some error (or idiocy) on Gateway's part, my order got routed to their International Sales group and spent the better part of a day in perpetuity. My advice: Call Gateway after placing your order on-line to confirm no errors in the handling. Their incompetence added a couple extra days to my estimated time to receive. |

I ordered a cd-rw drive in November for a Christmas gift that showed it would ship the week before Christmas. When it didn't arrive I called and found out it was backordered and wouldn't arrive for another three weeks. I canceled, but wished I would have been notified immediately about backorder when I ordered. |
