Lemon CPU and lousy customer service! My new Performance desktop has the full 3 yr. warranty. It arrived with an inopperative motherboard fan, touchpad, hard drive, keyboard, mouse, USB port, and graphics card. I spent one day each weekend for many months on the phone with Gateway trying to fix the problems. (Gateway requires you to endure many hours on the phone in Overall Rating

Would not recommend, or consider buying, from Gateway since their customer service stinks. Sent e-mail to their president 2 weeks ago; still waiting for reply. If their customer service is this lousy when a prospective customer has questions how lousy will it be after they have your money? Overall Rating

I don't know what has happened to these guys. They used to be OK, but lately can't seem to get much of anything right. You better hope your PC works when you get it, and that it keeps working because GW's tech support is completely useless. I think their tech support consists exclusively of people that couldn't get hired at McDonalds. Overall Rating

I noticed that Gateway has recently brought the store "in-house" so it's not operated by NECX anymore. Site has been updated and I had a great experience with them. I felt very confident buying from a large manufacturer like them rather than "web" companies. Overall Rating

Just bought a new 600XL laptop with all the trimmings. It's a great machine, arrived early, and the customer service people have been wonderful. I've used gateway products for about 10 years now. I was going to go with a Dell for this new laptop, but Gateway's friendly people and great prices won me back. The only drawback is that some of the tech support people are a little less helpful than I remember previously. You might have to talk to a couple of people instead of just one. Great machine! I have bought many things for Gateway. Gateway has one of the best customer service departments around. The prices at Gateway are amoung the best. I compared prices with retailers all over the internet, and Gateway definetely had the lowest. They also almost always offer free shipping on orders over $99, but if you miss out on the promotion by a day (or even a week), just give them a call and they'll credit you for the shipping (they did for me). Buy from Gateway, I know I will again. Overall Rating

I think everyone should fall in love with guys that have free shipping specials. The internet almost always has better prices than retail stores, but shipping often kills it. Gateway had a great price on my monitor, Samsung Syncmaster 753, and free shipping as well. Thank you so much! Overall Rating

I placed an order with Gateway (eventhough I never liked them) for an Intel wireless card because in pricegrabber it was advertised with no tax and free shipping. Best price. When I placed the order online, I ordered two, I got charged tax and shipping. I sucked it up. Not too long after the order was confirmed, I got an email that it's back ordered. Gee, that stinks. And lastnight 7/25/02 at 9:41pm I got an email that the order was cancelled. So, a week goes by and again Gateway screwed me!!! Overall Rating

I on my 7th Gateway so I'm satisfied with the product. Dell computers are a bit quieter but the Gateway "bundle" suits me better. Service ranges from excellant to so-so, tech support has gone down hill but I've not needed much so it has not been a major problem. At its worst, it's still better than Conpaq. I purchased a laptop from them! They charged me $49.00 for shipping! Most companies that charge that much get it to you in a matter of 1-3 days. the confirmation letter says 2-3 business days It has been 5 days! They rip you off on shipping. Probably cost them $14 to send by ground shipping! Overall Rating

Package was sent to wrong address. I’ve called Gateway numerous times to resolve the problem and credit my account. Very little action from Gateway occurred. Because I stopped calling, they closed the issue. It’s been three months and I still have not been paid and wonder if I ever will. This company really stinks!!! Overall Rating
