Recommended.

Strengths:

Convenient, easy to use. Much more stable than expected.

Weaknesses:

Can bounce around a bit if you hit large potholes at speed. Pricey

Posted Jul 29, 2007 - Overall works much better than one might expect. It stays quite secure and can easily be switched from your own car to a friends, rental, etc. It does stay where placed; the only time it has moved is after going over some rough bits of highway at 70mph. It would just bounce off the dash a bit (which was a bit nerve racking at the moment). Only other gripe is it is quite pricey after you buy the connection bit to go along with it.

Garmin Portable Friction Mount

Strengths:

Sturdy

Weaknesses:

Limited compatibility

Posted 1 year ago - I have been using it for my Garmin Nuvi 650. It is quite sturdy and is stable for the most part. But it can shift at sudden deceleration and braking. In general, it works very well otherwise. It would have been desirable if it worked with other portable GPS systems as well.
