5 Star Review Garmin eTrex Vista

Strengths:

The Vista C has a lot of capabilities. This is definitely a product that I have spent some time reading the owner's manual.

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted Jan 17, 2006 - I've taken the GPS up through the mountains in PA on the road and taken it hunting on a couple of occassions. It has served me well. The only thing I noticed was when I was trying to get my car, the GPS arrow kept pointing in the opposite direct of the way I was going. Perhaps I had to zoom in more???

Strengths:

Compact size, ease of operation, color display & improved battery life.

Weaknesses:

Accessories from older Vista models won't work.

Posted Jun 12, 2005 - I thought this was basically the same as the previous model Vista with a color display. Wrong! The Vista C is a much improved version which makes it worth the money. I love the color display which makes it much easier to interpret the map data in all lighting conditions. The USB port allows for much faster data transfer than the previous unit's serial port. I've also noticed quite an improvement in battery life over the older model which is a nice bonus since the Vista was definitely not a battery hog. I liked the ease of operation on the older model and it's identical on the Vista C so no complaints there! The only thing I'm not happy with is that I now have to buy a new automobile power adapter as the old one won't fit the Vista C. Overall, I'm happy with the improvements, and if you like the Etrex series, this one will suit you just fine!

5 Star Review Garmin Etrex Vista C

Strengths:

great battery life, auto dusk/dawn display color changes so your not blinded in the dark by bright display colors, Easy to read display and easy to use buttons/operation.

Weaknesses:

Cant think of any.

Posted Jul 12, 2005 - This is my first GPS. I purchased it specifically to take my 10 yr old daughter, Geo Caching. I have loaded several local caches and plan on going with her next weekend. I am a beginner and this thing is even easy for me to operate.

5 Star Review A reliable product with affordable price

Strengths:

Portalbe with two AA batteries, real time navigation and real time route correction and recalculation. Colorful display and make it more readable. Electronic compass and altimeter are very handy.

Weaknesses:

The internal memory is 24MB, it is enough to use, but will be better with a larger memory or expandable slot.

Posted Aug 22, 2005 - I just got back from my travel from Ohio to Niagara Falls, New York City, Philadelphia and Washington. D.C. I downloaded the necessary maps from my laptop before I set off for every single destination and the GPS works just fantastically. I really benefit a lot, especially in unfamiliar cities, like driving in New Jersey areas. It gives you a lot of ease to navigate even when you are walking. The only thing not so ideal is that my map, AMERICAN CITY SELECT is updated around May 2004, so in some area, when I was driving from New York to Philadelphia, some exits no longer exists, that cost me a little time to get to the right track. But nothing is wrong with the GPS unit, you need make sure to get the most updated maps.

Strengths:

Best of all

Weaknesses:

Software too expensive

Posted May 15, 2005 - Very good, lots of features and small. I recommend this handy GPS to everyone! Make sure getting a couple of spare "AA" batteries! Software should be little cheaper.

5 Star Review Great , no AWESOME!

Strengths:

Ease of use, detailed manual, color easy to see screen (even in sunlight), good battery life, very accurate readings.

Weaknesses:

Love it too much to complain!

Posted Jan 14, 2006 - We purchased this product mainly for Geocaching and trip routing use, and have found it to be awesome. The USB cable (provided) makes downloads of caches very easy. It is very sturdy fits in your hand like a glove. We have not taken a trip to utilize the trip manager, but anticipate it being as awesome of the rest of the features.
