This affordable Personal Travel Assistant comes with many of the popular features found in the nuvi 660 minus Bluetooth wireless technology, an integrated traffic receiver and FM transmitter perfect for everyday navigation. It features a super-bright 4.3" widescreen display for improved map viewing, POI lookup and MP3/audio book playback. This landscape display has white backlight and a touchscreen for easy use. nuvi 650 comes ready to go right out of the box with preloaded City Navigator NT street maps, including a hefty points of interest (POIs) database with hotels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and more. Simply touch the sunlight-readable color screen to enter a destination, and nuvi takes you there with 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions. It even announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. In addition, nuvi 650 accepts custom points of interest, such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. The European version even includes a preloaded safety camera database containing the location of safety cameras for parts of Europe. Navigation is just the beginning. nuvi 650 includes many must-have entertainment and travel tools including MP3 player, audio book player (subscription to Audible.com required), JPEG picture viewer, currency converters and more. It also comes with optional FM traffic alerts, Garmin Lock (an anti-theft feature) and configurable vehicle icons that let you select car-shaped graphics to show your location on the map. minimize

5 Star Review NUVI 650

Strengths:

Image quality, size(can fit in shirt pocket), speed aquiring satelites & calculating your route

Weaknesses:

A little costly but well worth it.

Posted Jul 20, 2007 - This is my second Garmin GPS. My first was a Garmin Street Pilot III. purchased 2004. This unit (Garmin 650) out performs my old unit. It incorporates a new high speed chip, making it a lot quicker than the older Garmin units.

Strengths:

this is the first gps i have had and i love it, its very easy to use and is quite accurat, i strongly recommend it

Weaknesses:

Posted Jul 10, 2007 - I never thought I would use a GPS system here in Las Vegas but the use of a satelite tracking system is great. JUST PROGRAM IT AND DRIVE TO YOUR DESTINATION.

4 Star Review Big screen

Strengths:

Accurate routing

Weaknesses:

Expensive

Posted Jul 9, 2007 - I get pretty good reception indoor as well, the routing calculation is fast and accurate. Need to re-spell city name every time, which is kinda annoying. Sometimes the interface is not very responsive.

4 Star Review Excellent GPS!!

Strengths:

All the best functionality from a GPS, Sleek, Good Antenna and Widescreen

Weaknesses:

Internal Li-Ion battery cannot be changed by end user. Update maps cost money.

Posted Jul 1, 2007 - Garmin seems to have the best options of all GPS systems. I had pretty much settled on the Garmin nüvi 350, but the nüvi 600 series has a larger "wide screen" display and rather than peering to see s small screen while driving, I thought the bigger screen would be much better.. All of the Garmin models connect with Mac computers which is a great pus for us mac users. I am really enjoying the unit!

4 Star Review Garmin Nuvi 650 Personal Travel Assistant GPS

Strengths:

Lots of great options..my favorite is to type the name of the restaurant and it will give me the address and number along with the directions of course. Easy touchscreen. Nice screen size and color.

Weaknesses:

Sometime it takes a while to load/calculate your destination. Voice can sometimes pronounce the street names incorrectly

Posted Jun 24, 2007 - Overall, bought it as a gift for my spouse and he loved it. It's a little pricey but heard that Garmin was a good brand for a GPS system. Would probably buy it again if the 660 didn't exist but I think the only big difference between the two is that the 650 doesn't have the bluetooth part.
