5 Star Review Corel Graphics Suite X3 review from an amatuer photographer

Strengths:

Does entire process for photographs..from camera JPEG to frame ready glossy print with text, rules, precise positioning and just about anything else you want to add. Easy to use compared to others.

Weaknesses:

As with most graphics programs, successful color management is difficult to achieve. A raw image format interface would be nice.

Posted Mar 29, 2008 - I have used Corel Graphics Suites for 15 years. The early versions progressively added functionality until one could do just about anything they wanted to with an image. The latest versions, including X3 like I have, enhance the functions and add ease of use and automation. Corel Graphic Suites are a great value for the price. For several times the price one can purchase a graphics creative suite that is more acceptable by pros and probably more powerful (also harder to learn), but I don't need to spend the extra money for functions I will probably never use.

5 Star Review Be careful if you want a Corel X3 product with printed user manual and materials, versus Corel X3 with all materials on DVD

Strengths:

Corel is a classic product.

Weaknesses:

They need to label their versions of X3 more clearly. Too confusing! Full Retail versus OEM versus Upgrade versus Education Professional versions.

Posted Dec 30, 2006 - Be careful you get the right product, before you order! The Full Retail version has printed materials and a printed user manual. In contrast, the OEM version has everything the Full Retail version has, but it's all on a DVD in electronic form. The only way I figured this out was from reading the SuperDeal Online site. They did a great job describing the OEM product versus the Retail product. Pay careful attention to the tabs at the top of the list on the PriceGrabber.com screen - you will see one tab for "New Retail Box" and another tab for "No Retail Box (OEM)". Heads up: I think some of the vendors who are selling an OEM version, have mistakenly placed their product info under the New Retail Box tab. Oops! I went through all the information listed, and I didn't see any vendors who were selling the Full Retail version with a printed user manual for less than about $170. Anything less than about $170 was a Full OEM version, not a Full Retail version with a printed user manual. And you can get the OEM version for about $100 -- don't pay too much! So the bottom line is: Full Retail version with printed user manual will probably be over $170, and OEM version is around $100. I guess that sometimes you get what you pay for. :)

5 Star Review Corel x3

Strengths:

Great bitmap to vector convertion, easy to use and understand. More integrated applications if you want to edit a bitmap in Draw you don't have to open Photopaint.

Weaknesses:

Needs to better use Intel 2 Core Duo processors.

Posted Jul 9, 2007 - I've been using Corel Draw since version 5, so I don't need to be slod on the product, it's easy to use, powerful and now very stable.

5 Star Review OEM version

Strengths:

Good all-around product, and the OEM version is a great deal price-wise

Weaknesses:

The OEM version does not come with printed manuals or support; also, it cannot be used as an upgrade.

Posted Apr 14, 2007 - I have used Corel for years but recently purchased a new computer with Vista. I didn't think I could afford to upgrade to the latest version of Corel ($170 on their site), but then I realized that the OEM version was available for less than $100. I opted to buy it through ClickCoolDeals.com for $75, which was the best price I could find. Other reviewers indicated the shipping might be slow, so I paid $5 for the priority shipping. I didn't get an email to acknowledge my order or to indicate the product had shipped, but I did receive my order very promptly. It's a full, usable product -- just without the manuals or support -- but it has Help. I really like some of the new features in this version. So, it was worth the money!
