Strengths:Features of Photoshop for less the cost. Integrated photo album makes selection of editing easier.
Weaknesses:Some functions are not that easy to use.
Posted Feb 28, 2008 - Whenever people mentions photo editing these days, the first software comes to mind for many might be the name Photoshop. Paint Shop Pro, on the other hand, can be considered as slimmed down version of Photoshop with main editing tools and functions intact, but it did not receive all the raves that Photoshop receives. Paint Shop Pro Photo XI was able to bring the gap between Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop closer. Even though Paint Shop Pro Photo XI does not have all the functions/features that Photoshop have, for example like plug-ins, but Photo XI still have many of the features of Photoshop, from the simple brightness, contrast, color, size adjusting to the noise removal, photo filters, distortion adjustment, and photo level adjustment. It also features integrated photo album that allows organization and easier editing selection. And it is priced at fraction of cost of the Photoshop.
Some of the functions of Photo XI are not as easy to use as advertised. The distraction removal is one of them. It is not simply some point and click and it is done, it takes some used to.
Overall, Photo XI is a great tool for those that wants photo editing but either have no need for all the Photoshop's professional functions or does not find Photoshop worth of its price. Whatever the reason, Paint Shop Pro Photo XI is a great Photoshop replacement.
