Boss DD-3 Delay Review

Strengths: This box offers a lot of different sounds. The delay range goes from extreamly short to long enough for most applications.

Weakness: The feedback knob could be replaced by a decay and/or number of repeats. Throwing the feedback to the max does make some neat sounds, but is pretty useless.

Within minutes I was able to compensate for the lack of reverb on my amp. Within minutes after that I had some crazy U2 The Edge or Rage Tom Morrello echos. The hold function is very bizarre. I'm not sure how useable it is but it is very cool to repeat a chord and solo over it. Putting the feedback on max did make some crazy squeels.
All in all, I'm happy with this box and am glad I didn't blow extra money on Boss's next step up, DD-6. I keep the effect level very low to get a fuller sound and this box does it. It may take some tweaking with the feedback and delay knobs (which work together) to get your sound but I'm sure the DD-3 could nail it.

Solid, reliable, clean digital delay

Strengths: Just enough time (800ms) to get most of your rhythm work done; pristine repeats; absurdly simple, intuitive controls

Weakness: Maybe not enough delay time as other pedals; your standard digital high-end brittleness

Been using Boss delays on and off for about 5 years, and you always know what to expect with their digital models: clean, precise repeats, predictable feedback control, and great silent switching. What everybody in the analog world always forgets (and I use an analog delay next to this) is that a noisy crowd in an acoustically dead room won't always hear your analog delays - so just save the money and go digital if you really want them to know you're using a delay.

Digital Delay DD-3

Strengths: (1)Boss quality (2)Varying Delay (three modes) (3)Hold function (will hold delay)

Weakness: Setting delay time is a little tricky (compared to my amps built in time)

This is a great sound delay pedal! I had to get used to setting the timing up for the pedal. I am used to my amps built in delay. This definately sounds better then built in delay once it is set up right. Manual is easy to use and very helpful. I liked the three mode option and the hold option. I am using a power adapter, so I am not sure how long batteries will last in the pedal.

BOSS DD-3 Digital Delay

The Boss DD-3 Digital Delay exists as an extra (or, some might argue, an essential) for musicians to make great music greater. It provides the same sophisticated delay effect as a dedicated rackmount delay unit, all compressed into a compact pedal that fits easily under one foot for stompbox-style control. The DD-3 features BOSS sound quality and offers users 3 delay time modes and a Delay Time...
