Really good straightener

Posted Dec 21, 2007 - I am very satisfied with this hair straightener. It works very well. It does not take a long time for it to heat up (less than 2 minutes). I have medium/shoulder lenght hair and it takes me 5-8 minutes to straighten. It saves me a lot of time in the morning. The hair stays straight for the whole day (more than 10 hours). This model is better than the others because the hair does not get struck in the heating control or the power button, like in the other models. One bad thing about it is that it does not have a temperature control, although you can do without it. The hair is very hot to the touch after being straightened, but it is not burned. This straightener works very well and it is easy to use. I would definitely recommend it.

If you need to tell people you use a CHI...

Posted Jan 2, 2008 - This is rated very high on some sites. Since the warranty is only valid through salons, I can only think that the salons must be "stuffing the votes" on this item. It is basically your no-frills drug-store straightener that is being marked up dramatically somewhere along the line (salons?) It's a cord, a switch, and two heating elements in a cheap housing. For the price, the quality is low, it has no temperature control, no automatic shutoff, works no better than the cheep-o's and it feels uncomfortable in your hand. If you need to have THIS particular brand to stroke your ego - go for it, if not, look elsewhere. I'll be returning mine.

Hands Down! The Best Straightener Out There!

Posted 5 months ago - I have owned a CHI for 3 years, used it almost every day, and have had no problems. This purchase was due to a recent trip to europe where my converter failed and literally melted the mechanism from the inside out. I purchased a replacement on Price Grabber while in Europe, so I would have one when I arrived home. Yes, it is literally something I use and need that much. It not only straightens my naturally curly hair beautifully, but it also curls, flips etc. beautifully. I use it on my daughters and myself. I can do my children's hair within minutes. To straighten my own it takes no more than ten minutes with a CHI. I have used other straighteners and curling irons when mine is not available, and they pale in comparison. I get smooth frizzless finish curling or straightening. Definitely worth every penny! I will never buy anything else!

Amazing!!

Posted 1 year ago - I don't actually own one, but I had to perform somewhere and we had to have our hair straight. So I used my straightener (from a clearance bin), put loads of product in it, and it took 20 minutes, plus a touch up in the morning. When I got to the performance, it was frizzy again! So someone used this CHI on my hair as a touch up that literally took less than a minute and it was fabulous! Straight and soft. It lasted like that for days and I couldn't stop touching my hair, it was so soft! I got about a dozen compliments. All it took was going over it once.

fix mine please

Posted Mar 19, 2007 - i tried this through a freind.i wanted one so badly and she bought me one. we no longer have the receipt and i never even got to try mine. i plugged it into socket, the socket shot out fire and it shocked me. i need to know how i can return the one i have and get it fixed, etc. i must own one,please help me out. thanking you kindly

Best flat iron...short life span

Posted 3 months ago - Bought the original Chi in a salon for $150 in 2005 and it worked great. It suddenly "broke" down in May 2009 - maybe because forgot to unplug and turn off after three hours! I was heartbroken. It was the best flat iron ever! I heard others tell me their Chi stops working after so many years. Not bad I guess, but next time I'll buy one for much less money.

Posted 2 months ago - The chi hair strightener works well on my hair and was a good value for the money. My daughter's Paul Mitchell is better but was a lot more money and really not worth it for my hair.
