So far this drive has been everything that I imagined. It hooked up in about 2 minutes, and upon booting up, showed up on my desktop instantly. Drag & drop simplicity here folks. This is a low cost storage alternative that is well worth the 100 bucks. I'll reboot right now to make sure that it shows up again (others are having a problem)...

TopStrengths: Installation took about 5 seconds on XP. Design is great, very nice to look at.
Weakness: Very short USB cord.
For those of you trying to add some extra hard drive space to your laptop, this is the way. This external hard drive is a great addition to your computer, especially if you have XP. There wasn't even a need to install any drivers. Just plug it in and start transfering your files. It is actually very small and a great value.

I received my Lacie hard drive today and it was sweet! I thought it was smaller than in the picture on the net. It worked on my Dell laptop with a breeze and Im happy for it. The design was fantastic so sleek, so fast and I defeinitely recommend the brand, its amazing

After I ordered for one month this item recieved at last. It looks good and easy to setup. If you want to have a big protable storage at a reasonable price, it's definitely the choice.

TopStrengths: Very easy to set up. Smaller than I expected. Sleek, attractive design. Quiet and fast. It's truly a plug and play device.
Weakness: I haven't found a weakness in the drive, per se, but the back-up software (silverkeeper) quit unexpectedly a few times. It did start working correctly, eventually.
It does come with some software (a back up utility and an owner's manual), but you don't need them to operate the drive. I just plugged in the power, plugged the USB into my iMac and there it was on the desktop. Easy as pie.

TopStrengths: Cost efficient for people like myself who don't need a massive memory capacity.
Weakness: Besides the fact that the USB cable is indeed short, I wonder how it took Porsche to do such a boring design.
It arrived surprising quickly (practically the next day from my order). Setting up was even more surprisingly fast and simple. Now I feel safer that my dissertation and all the data have a back up, which can be up-dated as simple as saving documents.

TopStrengths: Much smaller than appears in picture. very sleek. very, very quiet (its 2 feet away and I cant hear it). a good deal and quite affordable.
Weakness: none that I can see
I definitely recommend buying this if you're in the market for an external drive. especially if you want something with a small footprint and a sleek, unobtrusive look. A very well designed product.

This item lives up to all the reviews. It came pre-formatted, so all I had to do with XP was plug it in. Performance is outstanding with the USB 2.0 connection. It has a long power cord, but only an 18" USB 2.0 cable. Lengthening the USB cable would be the only improvement. This is an excellent value for the money. And the silver case is very sleek.

best price for a small ex. drive and it works with macs. seems like a solid hard drive. the most important issue for me is durability. I don't want to loose data. These reviews don't address that because they are written two days after purchase.

Weakness: nothing major; USB cord is on the short side.
for under a hundred bucks, this is a great tool for large backups. design is sharp, set-up is a pice of cake. you would be hard pressed to find a better bargain in removeable hard drives.

Strengths: Very easy setup- Plug n Play. Very mobile and simple. Long power cord. Fast performance.
Weakness: Short USB cable.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the LaCie hard drive. Performance is good to go and setting up is so easy. Just plug and play. The fact that it has a power button available makes it pretty good. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone else. It is definitely worth the 100 bucks. By the way, got this from B & H. Initially item was on backorder but once they restocked it only took 3 days to get here. I've only had this for couple days so I would have to give it 4 stars for now. In order to rate 5 stars, I'm going to have to use this for a bit.
