This is a good SATA HDD from Seagate. I like the super quiet and cool performance and the added advantage over ATA hdd. This is a good deal for $100.

I have 2 - 250GB drives and 2 - 80GB Seagate Baracuda's and they have ran flawlesly since I've used them. You could not ask anymore from a reliable HDD than the Seagate with a 5 year warranty on all their drives.

I have been using it for over 5 month now on a DELL Optiplex P4 machine together with its smaller sibling
ST3120026AS (Seagate Barracuda 120GB SATA - over 2years of usage). I am very satisfied with the performance of both of them. The 250GB version goes through lots of frequent write / delete cycles often resulting in a complete rewrite of almost 99.5% of its capacity. (the drive is dedicated for video files editing. It is even difficult to notice a slowdown when approching a drive capacity limit (say. 50 MB free space left). Excellent drive at a very reasonable price. For those needing a faster access I recommend using them in a RAID configuration etither 5 or 10.

TopStrengths: Runs quietly, Great value for money.
Weakness: Mine failed after 1 month of moderate use.
Perhaps I'm being harsh, but then again, losing a month's worth of work configuring a system on an all but new drive will do that to you. This drive was very responsive, and never lagged, until suddenly it failed, and my SATA controller couldn't see it. Be sure to have good backups if you're banking on this to see your system past the first month.
I've contacted Seagate about the problem, and they're giving me guff about how it's an "OEM" drive. I'll be back to update or rescind my condemnation of this drive if they stop running me about, and stand by their product. Until then, check out something other than Seagate and Maxtor.

TopStrengths: Quiet, long warranty, low price per gig
Weakness: 2 out of 5 I bought were DOA
The drives are very quiet. I have 3 running right now in my PC and the fan noise completely masks the hard drive noise. I have received 2 DOA drives, but hesitate to assign the fault to Seagate at this point. Still following up with the vendor (eWiz.com) on this.

Plugged it in it works well and with the 5 year warranty at least you know you can get a new drive if this one breaks but so far its been working great.

I have been a long-time fan of Seagate drives for their reliability and excellent warranty policy. A few years ago, I was dismayed when Seagate shortened their 5-year warranties, as I had received excellent warranty service from Seagate in the past through their commercial division.
However, when I needed to purchase more disk space recently, I was excited to see that Seagate had reinstated their traditional 5-year warranties for consumer drives.
This drive is an excellent value, providing a quiet, reliable drive at a good cost.

Most quiet hard drive I ever had, running two of them in my computer. These are 100% better than Western Digital. They come with a five year warranty, can't beat it and the price was right.
