IDE Ultra ATA/100 ATA-6 - 7200 rpm - 8 MB Buffer - 2.5" - MPN: ST910021A
Strengths: World's fastest notebook drive for your laptop. Ideal for speed- say mobile recording studio or any notebook needs for a fast drive. Most notebook drives are 5400rpm which are not fast enough.
Weakness: Would be better with SATA interface.
Seagate makes the world's fastest notebook hard drive. The momentus 7200 is faster then the hitachi drives.
You would think EVERY new laptop/notebook would have this new drive in it as hard drive speed is just as important as CPU speed.

TopStrengths: Fast
Weakness: Extremely unreliable.
My 3rd drive has just gone bad, just clicks. Each drive lasted 4 months. Enough. I don't care if it's in warranty. I hope a Hitachi drive will do better.

The Momentus 7200.1 is Seagate's first notebook drive with a 7,200 RPM spindle speed. It's a safe bet that the main target market is the fast growing segment of PC users who are migrating to large, widescreen desktop-replacement portables as their main rigs. Some of these are gamers who go for >10 lb behemoths with Athlon FX57 processors, gigabytes of RAM, 17" monitors and so on, for LAN parties...

excellent drive for a laptop
Strengths: fast, quiet, no overheating
Weakness: none found
i got this hdd as a replacement for 40GB Hitachi (4200 rpm) in my Dell Inspiron 8200. i was concerned about the temperatures as this drive is almost twice as faster and my hdd fan might not be as efficient. to my surprise this drive's average temperature is 50 degrees, while Hitachi's average was about 60.
(btw i am using a i8kfangui to measure drive temperature, nifty freeware for Dell users)
this drive is also very quiet, i notice a significant difference.. (the old Hitachi was producing a constant buzz, very annoying)
the disk is fast as it should be, my laptop is a bit old so the overall performance is somehow limited by other components (please note that this is still ATA, not SATA), but switching from 4200 to 7200 rpm DOES make a difference.
i would highly recommend this drive to anyone who needs a new drive for their laptop. the price is a bit higher than the other drives but the quality pays off.
