Awesome Hard Drive

Strengths:

400gb, 5 year warranty, 16mb buffer, 3.0 SATA fast!

Weaknesses:

It's not a 500gb+ HDD!

Posted Feb 13, 2007 - This is a great HDD and I own 3 of them with a 4th on the way to be installed! I've owned Maxtors, WD's and Seagates but I like Seagate's the best! This is mostly due to their longer warranty and their drives have been quieter than Maxtors and WD's. The seagate seems slightly quicker but that may just be me. Great drive!

Seagate 400GB SATA300 Hard Drive

Strengths:

400GB storage size, SATA300 interface, 7200rpm/16MB cache, perpendicular recording, supports NCQ

Weaknesses:

Very quiet when idle, a little bit loud during reading/writing.

Posted Jan 27, 2007 - Got this HDD from NewEgg.com at a decent price, works great after installed though it's not as quiet when reading/writing as idle. It's fast comparing to PATA models. With 400GB size, SATA300, 7200 rpm, 16MB cache, perpendicular recording and NCQ support, can't complain too much. Not sure about the warranty because ST3400620AS seems to be OEM only, hope it's 5 years.
