Posted Mar 10, 2006 - Buy the Firewire version if you own a Powerbook. Found out the hard way that powerbooks have weak USB power and cannot mount the USB drives, even if you use both USB connections.

Excellent portable hard drive, Highly Recommended!

Strengths:

Compact size and weight, fast transfer speed, good price.

Weaknesses:

Larger capacity availability?

Posted Jan 29, 2006 - I had previously owned a Lacie 40GB portable hard drive and was quite happy with it except that I needed more capacity for the files I wanted to store and transfer. This new model besides with the larger 80GB capacity, seems faster and is just as portable as my previous one. Nice finish and simple block design, but I liked the more rounded case of the previous model. However, this new model came with a nice black velour cloth-like protector case this time. It works without having to install any drivers, just plug it in and it is good to go. Great no nonsense accessory. I will probably update to the larger capacity model whenever it becomes available in the future.
