Bang for the buck: Seagate Momentus 5400.2, 120GB, 8MB cache, 2.5inch notebook hard drive.

Strengths:

WARRANTY 5 years, 120GB, 8MB cache, 5400RPM.

Weaknesses:

16MB cache would be nicer, but it would make the drive cost more; don't know if this would make the drive perform any better.

Posted May 6, 2007 - This is a replacement for the original 60GB, 5400RPM, 8MB cache, hard drive that came in my Toshiba Satellite 5105-S701 laptop. I don't notice any difference between this replacement and the original installed hard drive in terms of: access speed, noise, and battery consumption. I am pleased with the 5 year warranty. Hopefully I won't have to use it and hopefully Seagate remains in business producing quality products with long warranties.

Trust Brand and Reliable Hard Drive

Strengths:

Fast 5400 RPM, Quiet, Low Energy Consumption and Problem Free Installation

Posted Mar 12, 2007 - Originally, I have bought an 120GB hard from a different vendor because it was slightly less expensive. For whatever reason, the other hard drive became unreadable during the installation of the OS. Rather than wait 1-2 weeks for the vendor to send me another hard drive. I decided to spend the extra money for the Seagate Momentus 120GB. My laptop's previous hard drive was also a Seagate Momentus so I knew exactly what I was getting. Installation went smoothly and I have been using this 120 GB hard drive for over 1 week and no problems thus far. In additional, I bought the retail version which came with a 5 year warranty. So when it comes time to upgrade my laptop, I intend to reuse this hard disk as my portable drive, until either the 5 years are up or when it dies...which ever comes first.

Quite and cool drive

Strengths:

low noise, cool operational temperature

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Oct 31, 2006 - I use this drive as a second internal drive on my IBM T43's ultraslim bay. Very quite and cool in temperature. Strongly recommended. It draws much less power compared to the 7200RPM Hitachi 2.5" drive I used to use.

Fast, quiet,, hard drive

Strengths:

Fast, quiet, a solid performer

Weaknesses:

None, it is a Seagate

Posted Oct 8, 2006 - I replaced a stock Fujitsu HD in my HP notebook with this. I got faster speed, greater capacity, and a quiet hard drive. I've never had a problem with any Seagate hard drive (I've been using Seagate hard drives in my other PCs and laptops for years and have never had a glitch) but the 5 year warranty is nice to have in case something does go wrong. I've called Seagate a few times with questions and found their customer service to be first rate. I recommend this hard drive and the company without hesitation
