5 Star Review Best Kept Secret

Strengths:

Excellant sound qualtity, strong base in a bud, comfortable, great price. Decent Noise canceling.

Weaknesses:

Noise cancelling could be better.

Posted Sep 9, 2005 - These are the best kept secret in the earbud catagory. I've purchased almost every type of earbud under $50. And these are by far the best I've owned. I got them for $20 at K-mart no less. Don't let that scare you off. The excellant sound quality will amaze you. Hat's off to Philips.

5 Star Review Awesome!

Strengths:

Surround Sound, Bass, Fit, Price

Weaknesses:

Nothing Really

Posted Aug 21, 2005 - These earphones/canalphones sound great. They reduce a nice amount of noise, and the venting (dual driver) helps to balance the bass so its deeper but not harsh. The virtual surround feature is no joke, and it sounded as if the music was in the air. They are white which matches my iPod,they are unique looking, and cost me next to nothing. These are a definite good buy even more so as an alternate pair of earphones as opposed to a replacement. A regular pair for normal listening, and these for when you want real ambience in your songs. You seriously wont believe just how surroundy these are. No wonder they patented it.

5 Star Review Inexpensive not cheap...

Strengths:

Great sound, great case, good design, bass you can feel and excellent all around sound. Inexpensive for quality you get.

Weaknesses:

The case is cumbersome and the jury is still out on its sturdiness. Earbuds get sweaty and can slip out.

Posted Feb 19, 2006 - If you are looking for a great set of inexpensive earbuds, this is your best buy. Less than 20 bucks and the quality is awsome. The only thing that could be problematic is if you are working out, the buds can start to slip out if not in tightly which could cause a little discomfort. Still great earbuds though.

5 Star Review Better than a $20 pair of headphones

Strengths:

Sound, Comfort, Case, Price

Weaknesses:

None that I have found

Posted Mar 30, 2007 - I have tried headphones and earbuds and spent up to $100 on a single pair. These babies blew them all out of the water. The price is right, they fit perfectly, even under the earmuffs I have to wear at work. The case is durable, but a bit of a pain to wrap the cord around every time. Maybe I'm just lazy. I highly recommend this product and replaced mine when I lost them at work about a month ago.

2 Star Review Hoping for better

Strengths:

Virtual Surround effect

Weaknesses:

Sound isn't that clear. Funky L/R mismatched cord length.

Posted Oct 10, 2006 - I was interested in the virtual surround sound feature. It's a noticeable difference from my other headphones but the sound is not very clear. I'm going to return them and try another pair.

2 Star Review Don't Do it!! No replacement parts.......

Strengths:

price, you get what you pay for. Comfortable though.

Weaknesses:

The silicone tips WILL fall off. Base is barely average.

Posted Mar 8, 2007 - Guaranteed, you will lose the rubber tips on these. There are no replacements for these, except MAYBE go into a Comp USA store. Phillips said Radio Shack has them, but they don't. If you keep your receipt, and are willing to go without headphones for a while, you can send them back to Phillips and get the whole thing replaced. I use mine way too often to want to do that.

2 Star Review Not so impressed

Strengths:

Decent fit and interesting concept

Weaknesses:

Extremely poor sound in mid-ranges...you know, where voices are.

Posted Sep 19, 2006 - I bought this pair of headphones with high hopes. Who wouldn't want a pair of surround sound earbuds? Well, now that I've heard them, I don't. I returned them to the store yesterday. I found the sounds in the middle range of frequency were softer and poorer in quality with an overpowering bass. I felt I was in a room that echoed too much and a rock band was trying to perform. Muddy to say the least. It actually provided a clearer sound when I covered the surround sound exterior speaker...bizarre. I wouldn't reccomend, but God Bless 30-day return policies.

2 Star Review Clean fit and feel, muddy sound

Strengths:

Price, fit

Weaknesses:

Sound, "Surround Sound" feature

Posted Oct 24, 2007 - Bought these thinking I'd be getting great sound at a great price. I mean if they can incorporate Surround Sound technology into earbuds they can certainly get the basic tonal clarity right, right? Wrong. The sound is extremely muddy. No clarity, no decent highs or upper mid-range. Best description I can come up with is muddy. The bass isn't even clear/tight. Adjustments to the EQ on the device I'm listening too seem to have little effect. Too bad too, cause these are a comfortable, good looking (IMO) set of earbuds.

Thank you for the valuable feedback!
