Sennheiser's HD 280 stereo headphones are great for anyone who listens to music on-the-go. The padded earcups significantly reduce external sound, so the headphones can be used in high-noise environments, such as airplanes and buses. They also swivel for single-ear monitoring, and allow the headphones to fold flat for easy storage. And whether you're at home enjoying a new CD, or just listening to your favorite MP3 while traveling, these headphones deliver the sound of your music with clarity and fidelity. minimize

5 Star Review Best value for your money!!!

Strengths:

Great flat frequency response through all frequency ranges. Comfortable, durable, isolation. Cheap price for professional quality

Weaknesses:

None for the price range. You might find better sound quality for a lot more money.

Posted Nov 26, 2007 - I am a recording engineer that is recording, mixing and mastering music daily. I also have two sets of high quality monitors (speakers in the recording world) in a great listening environment. These headphones are outstanding for just a $100 price tag. I mainly mix with my monitors, but when I need to mix the very bottom 20-50 hz area, these headphones have not failed to give me an accurate representation of the mix. I love the sound quality and accuracy you get in the mid frequencies as well. I now own 3 sets of these and I am about to order my 4th set which will be used when tracking the whole band together. Note that these headphones are designed for accurate response, not hyped bass and hi's like most

Strengths:

Near perfect sound quality. Well built. Seal out almost all external noise.

Weaknesses:

A bit bulky, and sealing out external noise means you cannot hear much of what's going on around you.

Posted Nov 24, 2002 - I love these cans. Sound quality is exceptional from highest frequency to ultra low bass. Bass is a bit accentuated, but really sounds good on everything from rock to techno to symphonic music. High and midrange is perfect. Very clean well defined sound. The phones are a bit bulky, and of course still have a wire, but only one and it connects to one side (left) which helps keep it out of your way. If these things were wireless they would be the perfect headphone in my opinion.

Strengths:

Amazing sound quality, lightweight, completely isolates you from outside world

Weaknesses:

Still can't find any

Posted Jan 31, 2005 - WOW!!! I probably will spend next month rediscovering all my CD collection. It seems I've being missing 50% of the sound range. I never tough sound quality can be different that much. I have number of headphones in 50-200 price range, but those are just amazing, especially considering price tag - 80$!!! I am usually not over exited about purchases, but in this case... If you thinking of buying headphones for your PC/Audio System forget about cheap Koss, JVC etc... Sennheiser HD280PRO are the phones you were searching for. I sound like sennheiser salesperson now :-) Try those, you won't be sorry.

Posted Nov 8, 2003 - Best Customer Service Ever! I was really dissappointed when I pulled the headphones out to use after 12 months of being stored away and one side had shorted out. I had only used them a few times previously. I wasn't sure if I had done something or they were defective and couldn't decide whether to buy some new Bose or send these in. I went to the web page and found out how to return them. I expected a hefty charge that wouldn't be worth it. What I got was a brand new pair with nothing about a charge. Then I saw a letter/invoice in the mail. I opened it expecting the hefty charge. It stated they are committed to great customer service and there is no charge for the replacement, not even shipping. I am blown away by their service and a Sennheiser customer for life!

5 Star Review The best headphones I will ever own

Strengths:

Frequency response (8 Hz - 25 KHz) for deep bass and sharp treble, serious comfort, blocks outside sound perfectly. And the price is great, better from what it was when I bought it.

Weaknesses:

None.

Posted Jul 28, 2006 - I have been using this pair of HD 280's for almost 2 years, and let me tell you, once these break, get stolen, or get caught in a fire, I will replace them the same day. After a 3 month fight for the best headphones, I came across these beauties and once I put them on, I was hooked. The comfort can not be beaten, not by my experience. On a flight I wore them 8 hours, non stop, with absolutely no discomfort whatsoever, and with the superb around-ear padding, I could block out engine noise and that brat sitting next to me whining for a soda the whole trip. Now, if you are a bass junky, these will fit your needs. Whether it's gaming or Rap music, these will keep the booms at a nice low, rich rumble. They are like a subwoofer in your ear, if the conditions are right. ANd remember that time you had those big headphones and you tried to turn up the beat and you heard that weird popping or hissing distortion? You won't get that with these. At all. Play any Battlefield 2 or Half-Life 2? Oh, it's a whole new experience with these. Don't worry about turning the bass up on your sound card or media player, these will handle every bit of it. Worry about that distortion when the volume is really high? I am yet to hear a single pop or hiss due to distortion from high volume. My ears hurt before I can hear any distortion, so if there is any, it would be at a volume beyond what you would tolerate (likely, but that is just me). Attention Gamers, Rappers, Rockers, and Noisy Brat Blockers, these headphones are right for you.

5 Star Review Sweet Set

Strengths:

Fidelity, build quality, comfort, user replaceable ear and head pads (fairly priced too)

Weaknesses:

None found

Posted Dec 7, 2005 - Very pleased with this set of headphones. Primarily listen to MP3, can't comment on other uses. Totally satisfied with the sound quality and the volume. They do an EXCELLENT job of blocking/reducing external sound (excellent for use in noisy environments). Very happy with the purchase.

5 Star Review Durable, accurate, isolating

Strengths:

Excellent sound reproduction. Very comfortable earphones and headband. Amazingly durable. I've run these things over with an office chair and stepped on them dozens of times and they're still great

Weaknesses:

Far too heavy and hot to wear around outside in even mild weather.

Posted Jan 31, 2006 - Best dj style headphones I've very owned. These things are comfortable and block out about 30 decibles of ambient noise. They're the perfect dorm room headphones or family room headphones. No need to worry about them getting beat up by others, because they can take it and keep sounding great.

3 Star Review Good...but there are better

Strengths:

Smooth sound, isolation from external noise

Weaknesses:

decreased bass and treble

Posted Dec 20, 2005 - I got these headphones for use in noisy environments, but listening to them is not as enjoyable as I had hoped, due to the lack of highs and lows. One thing that I do like about them is being able to use them while wearing glasses without discomfort, but other than that I can think of many (headphones) that I enjoy listening to more.

3 Star Review HD 280 Pro is Not for Pros

Strengths:

Excellent "uncolored" closed headphone sound. Nice collapsable design.

Weaknesses:

Adjustable headband too feeble for professional use.

Posted Jul 13, 2007 - I have been a full-time radio broadcaster for 36 years and have used Sennheiser 'phones for my entire career. Nobody uses headphones more carefully and takes better care of them I do. I've owned two sets of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro headphones. On the first set: the headband fell apart and the coiled cord failed after eight months of use. The headband broke in two on the second set after nineteen months of use. Neither set outlived the 24 month warranty period. Excellent 'phones for home use, but will not stand up to the demands of full-time (five days a week) professional use.

1 Star ReviewI wanted to use these with an old Pioneer SX-1250 ...

Strengths:

Nicely built, great fit, incredibly lightweight.

Weaknesses:

Cannot be used with powerful (vintage) home hi-fi equipment.

Posted Jan 29, 2004 - I wanted to use these with an old Pioneer SX-1250 (1976) for my home listening, and also for production work. The HD-280 Pro's CANNOT take anymore than 1/2-watt. All tone settings must be set to basically flat, because any bass over that amount causes clipping. I barely turned up the volume, and added only a touch of bass, and the drivers were bottoming-out. If you're listening to a portable CD player, these are fine, but do not buy the HD-280 Pro's if you own REAL equipment and need to have things up a bit loud to overcome noise (or whatever) in your environment, or if you like a little bass with your music. Sennheiser would have done better to have given these at least a 1.5 watt input tolerance. C'mon guys !!

3 Star Review The quality is so so.

Strengths:

good design

Weaknesses:

pricy compared with the quality

Posted Jul 18, 2005 - The quality is so so. This headphone is not impressive, good design,I don't find any problem,it is just little better than the average level. i am disappointed with it although I think I may have too high expectation for it.

5 Star Review Value for Money!

Strengths:

Exceptional sound clarity (across all ranges), best passive noise canceling headphones, yet.

Weaknesses:

slightly bulky and not too flexible.

Posted Jan 29, 2007 - The performance is definitely worth the money! These WILL make you take a second look at your music collection. Songs you might have previously listened to, will certainly sound richer. The only downside is that these headphones don't fit comfortably in case you have a "big head", which means you cannot wear this for hours at a stretch. Overall, a fantastic product, and great value for money! Do not hesitate if you have an average sized head, Go for it!

4 Star Review There great.

Strengths:

Wonderful sound quality, comfortable, and durable.

Weaknesses:

You look like a complete idiot wearing these. You also cant wear them around your neck for style.

Posted 1 year ago - If all your looking for is the quality of sound go for these. However they arent something youll be walking around with all day. The cord is also a bit heavy and long so you might have to hide it somewhere. Thats all i got to say.
