Strengths:

Quality durable construction, very comforatble, good sound quality and sound isolation, 2 year warranty, price

Weaknesses:

A bit tricky to get them back into the protective case

Posted Aug 1, 2003 - I was first attracted to the PX200 headphones because of their unique collapsability and hard carrying case. I wanted some good quality portable headphones that I could put in a case and throw in my laptop bag without worrying about having them get crushed or all tangled up. Although the carrying case has proven a bit tricky to use, I'm guessing I'll get better at it with time and it is a nice little case. Although these headphones are not noise canceling, the sealed earpieces do a great job of isolating you from outside sound so you can enjoy whatever you're listening to. The sealing pads also make them very comfortable and the headband has a couple of pads that add to the comfort. Although I have just started using them, they seem very durable and have enough give to not break when you sang the cord on something, which I already did once. I'm not an audiophile, but the sound seems great to me, and did I mention they're really comfortable? I scored mine for only $34 from ecost.com, which is the lowest price I've seen. A great deal for the quality of this product.

Strengths:

Very good sound. Seemingly good construction, small and portable. I've heard the strong spring may relax after a while.

Weaknesses:

Strong spring. Try it upside down hanging under your chin for some relief. For about $18, the Koss, "The Plug" sounds almost as good and is easier to carry, if you like plugs.

Posted Jul 6, 2004 - Best for smaller heads or wear it upside down if it's too tight. Nice sound - good price. Needs a 90-degree turn on the plug to fit into my MP3 carrying case better. Great kid's headphones. I like the way they fold and store in the plastic case. If the spring relaxes, I'll give it 5 stars.

Posted May 18, 2004 - The quality is very good and saves your space in a reasonable price. It also has a very cool box. The only thing not perfect is that it is very easy to differentiate the resource song in MP3 player if the quality is not good enough. But I don't think it is the weakness just sensitive.

Strengths:

Great sound quality and sound isolation once physically adjusted to your unique head. Amazing portability and case design.

Weaknesses:

Tricky to get back into case. Lowest quality encoded music will sound poor due to high quality driver sensitivity.

Posted Jun 12, 2005 - These are the best sounding and best looking portable headphones I've listended to. They are light and easy to store once in the ingenious case. Sennheiser PX200s do not disappoint. For around $50 you get everything that comes with comparable $150 headphones I've used except the overly heavy bass response (bonus for many users)!

Strengths:

Excellent sound. Compact, comfortable and blocks sound nicely. Good bass. Convenient small hard case.

Weaknesses:

First time to fold into the case is a challenge. After two or three times you get used to.

Posted Nov 6, 2004 - It is not too big to very noticeable. You won't feel like an astronaut if you use in an airplane. I will buy another one. My wife took mine.

4 Star Review PX 200 great for travel

Strengths:

comfortable good for travel

Weaknesses:

not a "mega" bass unit

Posted Jul 3, 2006 - I bought these headphones for my portable DVD player and travel with my wife. At the time I also bought a noise cancelling unit from a competing company. Using both headsets over the last 2 years, we can honestly say when on an airplane I couldn't tell much difference in sound quality. Plus the noise cancelling batteries always seem to wear out at the worst times. Now with the noise cancelling ones "acting" up....I am purchasing a second set of PX 200.

Strengths:

Good sound quality and isolation, price, portability

Weaknesses:

They press against your ears a little more than snug, so they can get a little bit uncomfortable if you wear glasses.

Posted Mar 31, 2005 - These are one of the best pairs of headphones I have ever owned. They are comfortable (at least when I'm wearing contacts), the sound quality is good, and they do a pretty good job of blocking outside noise. It doesn't block the noise completely, but still pretty good for headphones that don't completely enclose your ear. Each earmuff rotates/pivots on a joint with the headband, ensuring a good fit with your ear no matter what shape. Comes with a nice case for hauling them around.

Strengths:

Detailed sound, portable, comfortable, closed design prevents sound leakage

Weaknesses:

Muffled sound, the over the head design

Posted Nov 13, 2004 - These headphones have detailed sounds. You can hear each sound and instrument playing easily. However, you will notice a lack of bass the first time you try it. Some people said that you need to break them in first. After I left them connected to my computer for one night playing a song with lots of bass, I began to notice the difference. The bass actually sounded more open. After using it for more than one month, the sound changed drastically (more bass). It is still less than enough for me though, and cheaper Sony headphones have better bass(though they are far less detailed and sound distorted) The closed design is probably the biggest strength of this headset, it prevents the sound from leaking outside and cancels noise from outside a bit. However, as another review stated, the headphones have the problems that most closed-type headphones have. The music sounds muffled and lacks the clearness and crispiness. Before you buy these headphones, you should at least be able to know what kind of headsets sound best for you. Is it a closed or open design. For my taste, I prefer PX100(similar to PX200 with open-air design) to PX200 because it sounds clearer and crispier. If you want a noise canceling Sennheiser, you might want yo look look at the PCX250. I heard that the PX100 does not experience the problem because of its open-air design, although the sound of PX100 leaks outside all the times. Also, I grow a bit tired of its over the head design. Though it is one of the most comfortable headphones I know, over-the-head design is uncool, big(if you want to use it while you are sleeping) Note that you can fold this headphones easily, although the included protective case is too big to be useful. The headphones are durable to a certain extent, but you can still break them easily by steping hard on them. Other models that you can consider: 1. Koss Portapro - similar sound quality to PX100 2. Grado SR60/SR80 - excellent sound 3. Sony MDREX71SL - nice design, small and light, white(a good match with Ipod), earbud design, good sound but lacks bass and detail)

Strengths:

Detailed and well-balanced sound, lightweight folding design, carrying case.

Weaknesses:

Wish they would block a bit more outside noise than they do.

Posted Dec 21, 2004 - I've used cheap $10 headphones and earbuds all my life, so this is my first nice set of headphones. I opted for the PX 200 over the 100 because the closed design is supposed to provide some isolation, and also keep the rest of the world from hearing much of my music. People blasting headphones long enough for everone to hear drives me insane. For the $40 I paid at Newegg, these things sound amazing, I didn't realize how much of my music I was missing. Every one of my friends who were skeptical of spending so much on headphones agreed these were a great buy for the sound after hearing my pair, and so far two of them ordered a set for themselves. I primarily use them with my iPod, which makes the carrying case a nice bonus, plus the cord is a bit longer than the stock iPod earbuds, which is nice. Also, the iPod has no trouble driving these things, they get quite loud. The only bad things to note about these headphones are at first, they sounded a bit shrill to me, but it goes away after playing music through them for a few hours, guess they need breaking in. Plus, to get good bass response, you need to make sure you have the phones placed on your ear so they seal well, centered over the lower part right over the opening to your ear drum. If they're not on right, the bass is very much lacking.

5 Star Review Best portable headphones under 100 bucks!

Strengths:

Clear sound, good base, amazing treble. Extremely comfortable and lightweight. Amazingly durable.

Weaknesses:

A little warm on hot days.

Posted Jan 31, 2006 - These things are wonderful. The isolation is incredible and the sound reproduction is simply excellent. These things are really comfortable and light too, which is a plus if you walk a couple miles in them every day. They're a little warm on really hot and sunny days though. These things are also suprisingly tough. I've sat on them a couple dozen times and stepped on them too. I beat my stuff up pretty well, and these things have taken it all very impressively.

Strengths:

Great sound quality, comfortable, small, good sound isolation

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Mar 7, 2005 - These are the best headphones I've ever bought. They sound much better than my old Sony v-150. I'm glad the Sony's broke, otherwise I wouldn't have bought these. They are small when folded, so I can keep them in my pocket. The headband pads make them fit really well. The Isolation Is good enough that i listen to them at about the same volume in the library or in the bus. I haven't had them for very long, but I haven't found any cons yet. So for anyone who cares about sound quality, these are easily worth the 50 bucks I paid (wish I had checked pricegrabber and saved $10).

Strengths:

Good sound, good build quality, comfortable

Weaknesses:

Weak base

Posted Dec 8, 2004 - This headphone has a very nice design and is well built. It sounds clear and nice. The case is well designed, so it is easy to carry and sturdy. Also, it looks cool. PX200 is very comfortable too, even if you use it for a long time. The only downside for me is that I feel like it has weak base sound. However, overall this is a very nice headphone and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

1 Star Review it stinks!

Strengths:

great sound

Weaknesses:

very very uncomfortable

Posted Oct 25, 2005 - I could never wear it on for more than half an hour, after a few min of wearing I'm gonna start to feel some discomfort, and after a few more minutes its gonna become really painful! I'm gonna give it back! It's a shame because it looks great and the sound quality pretty good.

Strengths:

excellent mids and highs, voice very crisp and clear, nice carrying case (a bit tricky to put it back though) 2 year warranty!

Weaknesses:

Bass is very weak (almost no bass) really disappointing! Not really able to do what a closed earphone should. I would probably recommend that you go for the PX100.

Posted Jan 8, 2005 - At first I felt like these were just regular headphones. Sound wasn't that great bacause of the poor bass. But I later on realized that you just have to really find the best fit on your ears on order for you to maximize the good clear sound and a bit of bass.

Strengths:

Light, comfortable, great price for product

Weaknesses:

A bit weak on bass

Posted Dec 30, 2004 - This is my first foray into higher end headphones (higher than $10 earbuds anyway) and I am very pleased. The main thing for me was comfort and these headphones deliver on that score. The sound is crisp and clear, with plenty of volume to spare. If bass is your thing, look elsewhere however. Great bang for the buck, $40 shipped from newegg!
