got this because it was supposedly silent. my old vornado cool mist, it made a loud fan hum, but that was nothing compared to the deafening GLUG-GLUG-GLUG sound of water filling the reservoir every hour and a half, and that would wake me.
this model, while the machine sound of it is super-quiet, the water sounds are worse. it makes these never-ending lapping sounds, like "blip blip blip" when the water swirls around. they are always happening, so i can never fall asleep. at least with the vornado, i could fall asleep (even if it was to be loudly awoken later).
but perhaps most relevant, it makes no difference in medium bedroom humidity. i have a humidity measuring tool thingie, and the numbers never changed. today i gave up and dragged in my old vornado, and when i went back in the room 20 minutes later, the humidity measurement jumped 5 points up.
the only positives are that the blue color is cute, and the effect of the vapor puffing out of the machine is neat, but it puffs out...and seems to dump right back down after shooting up a few inches. that's probably why it never actually gets into the air of the room.

My old Hunter care free humidifier stopped working. It has a big fan and can be loud at night. So I decided to get a supersonic humidifier. As expected, the Sunpentown is very quiet. But there is one problem, the mist doesn't go very far from the humidifier. As a result, the carpet near the humidifier gets damp. It's not soaking wet or anything like that, but I can definitely feel the difference with my hand pressed on the carpet. Maybe I need to put it up higher. But the lacking of a powerful fan is a clear trade-off. It has a mist control. But it will not shut off automatically at a set humidity. My old Hunter at the same price level does have that function. There is no filter. If your water is clean and soft, I don't think it matters too much.

TopStrengths: Machine operates very quietly. You do not even realize the it is on. The best thing about the unit is that there is no Filters to change. it is maintenance free.
Weakness: I have not seen any weaknesses yet. I love the unit.
The large capacity holding tank holds aprox 8 liters of water. This will allow the machine to run for a period of three days if it is only used while you sleep.

TopI have a question about this product. The controls, does it have a variable fan speed? Is there a fan at all or does the mist just come out from the top and fall to the ground. And last, because it's a mist is the floor wet where the humidifier is standing.

TopStrengths: Very quiet. The tank is larger than I thought, that means I don't need to keep filling the water. No filter needed, low maintenace cost.
Weakness: It took me little bit more force in order to open the tanker to fill the water. That part of design could be improved.
I have been looking for a humidifier for a while, and almost all the reviews for the humidifiers on the market complain about the noises. This is the first one with the reasonable price that is not associate with the problem. I am glad I picked this one.

I had looked a humidifier for long time. Finally, I found this after I read the review from PriceGabber. The humidifier is so quiet. I can't hear any noise even I turn the machine on. I'm so glad I bought it.

It is great to finally find a humidifier that actually works and requires no wick or filter.
Operation is simple--plug it in, fill the tank and push a button to turn it on--and it's quiet, too. No sputtering or spitting droplets of water onto surrounding surfaces. No need for salt added to the water, as some heated vaporizers require (safer around kids and pets, since no heat is involved). The visible vapor output and pilot light show it's working. Adjustable amount of vapor output and direction of flow make it more adaptable to a number of different environments. Low-water alarm is loud enough to be heard from another room.
It is also the best looking humidifier that I have seen--with its clean, sleek lines and cool blue, see-through water tank.
The only suggestion I have for the manufacturer is that it would be more convenient to fill the tank from the top, instead of having to lift the tank and turn it over to fill it from the bottom.
I would buy this same product again, without hesitation.

Weakness: Does best using only distilled water.
I bought this unit in the spring, and used it for a week. It was in storage all summer. I brought it out in the fall and used it for 6 weeks. It failed. I emailed the manufacturer, and the problem was diagnosed as a failed "generator". This was covered under the 1 year warranty. I mailed the unit back to California at my expense (around $15), and they fixed it and returned it at their expense. Although I (finally) found my receipt, the company was willing to fix it without that proof of purchase since I had registered the product and saved the original box. Basically, I was pleased with the way that Sunpentown backed its product.

It is a great humidifier, no doubt about it. It is a great value for the money. But the bloom bloom sound coming out of it (possibly some internal design problem) is really annoying.

I am so happy to have this humidifier. My wife likes it very much. She is from Cleveland, Ohio, and could not sleep well during the dry season in Arizona. Most of humidifiers are noisy when they work. But this one, Sunpentown Humidifier SU-2000, works quietly and efficiently. Now my wife can have a sound sleep :)

Sunpentown Humidifier SU-2000
Strengths: much better than any cool mist or warm mist humidifiers, and practicaly silent. Large water tank.
Weakness: doesn't seem to be the best manufactured product, but only time will tell.
My allergist and I highly recommend only going with an ultrasonic humidifier as this one is. The warm mist is loud and dangerous because it has hot water in it and the cool mist ones with wick's grow mildew and mold inside them.
