Good head unit for building a system
Good acoustics adjustments; automatic adjustment gives good base line for sound tuning
Time alignment is somewhat hard to use; CD functions (random, repeat, etc) should not be menu function-should be direct control; hard to blind control the remote control since buttons are similar
Posted Jul 27, 2005 - This is a feature rich head unit, with plenty of features for acoustics tuning. With the combination of two high pass and one low pass, as well as 13-band EQ and time alignment, a lot can be done to fine tune the sound. Also, the automatic sound tuning feature gives good base line to start with, so you only need to “tweak” the sound. However, from the HMI point of view, the CD control functions, such as repeat and random, are placed within two layers of menus, so they are hard to get to. It would be easier if the preset (1-6) buttons worked as basic functions during CD playback. Also, the remote has many similarly shaped buttons, and the buttons are evenly spaced out, that it is difficult to use the remote without looking down. Overall, if you are getting this head unit to build a sound system, with external amplifiers and subs, then I think it is a good buy.
