5 Star Review Microsoft Wireless Desktop-Mouse & Keyboard

Strengths:

Good battery life, customizable keys

Weaknesses:

Somewhat large, bulky

Posted Apr 1, 2008 - This is a pretty nice wireless set. The keyboard has plenty of preprogrammed keys as well as programmable ones. The keys have a decent feel, and the ergonomic layout is comfortable. The built-in wrist rest might be a take it or leave it for some; I like it. The mouse is also pretty comfortable and ergonomic. Being Mac compatible is great—Logitech's Mac offerings are separate (and more expensive) models. All in all, this is a very nice combo.

4 Star Review Desktop 4000

Strengths:

Wireless - good signal

Weaknesses:

Do not like shortcut controls

Posted Mar 6, 2008 - Great combo - keyboard and mouse are just right - very comfortable on your hands - keyboard has a nice curve and unusually big delete key (I am used to this key - since I have a logitech one with similar (enlarged) delete key). This set gets a very good signal and response is instant. With the exception of shortcut keys on left side of keyboard (weird) - would highly recommend this set - you will not be disappointed!

4 Star Review Excellent product for the price.

Strengths:

Price, customizable keys on Keyboard as well as extra buttons on both side of the mouse.

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted 1 year ago - I bought this combo and after installing it I was so pleasantly surprised that i bought another one! It even came with batteries. The keys have a nice feel to them but the mouse exceeded my expectations--It even has a magnifier feature so that you can read the text on your LCD TV when you are using one of your computer as a home theater setup. Till now I was using Logitech Wireless combo but it somehow kept crashing the Windows Explorer. Logitech products are supposed to be great but their software is something to be avoided.

4 Star Review Wireless Laser Desktop 4000

Strengths:

Reasonable battery life; stylish; ergonomic.

Weaknesses:

Wireless range not up to my liking

Posted May 28, 2008 - This is a pretty good combo for the price (I bought it on sale). Seamless set up, and the battery life is pleasantly not bad at all! Pretty comfortable to use, and is ergonomically sound. I am trying to use it to control an HTPC - placing these a few feet away. The keystrokes do not seem to have an issue, but now and then the mouse displays some flakiness. Not too big of a concern though. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product.

4 Star Review good product with some fixable software issue

Strengths:

build in rechargable battery nice ergonomic design lots of functional keys good signal strength

Weaknesses:

If you're using Vista, intellipoint is incompatible with certain programs when it comes to the scroll wheel. Microsoft addressed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828677

Posted Mar 25, 2008 - overall satisfied with the combo. But don't pay too much for it. The listed price is around $70, it is not worth that much. Try to shop around find deals lots less cheaper if you are price sensitive. The key board is big, which is a good thing and a bad thing.

3 Star Review Overall, a pretty good keyboard

Strengths:

The battery life is above average, the overall design is good. The keyboard shortcut buttons are placed in areas that do not intrude on the typing area.

Weaknesses:

I do not like the mouse at all. It seems to be a little larger than others, and is not "smooth" I have actually gone back to my old mouse.

Posted Mar 7, 2008 - Overall, the keyboard is good. The range is good (6-8 feet) and the feel is good. The mouse isn't up to par though. I would recommend the keyboard.

4 Star Review Satisfied with the purchase

Strengths:

Soft-wrist rest support, soft key touchs. Lighter weight of mouse. Easy Plug n play.

Weaknesses:

So far none, performance wise. Left side curve is not impressive.

Posted Feb 29, 2008 - I was able to connect this to my laptop without installing any drivers from the CD. I wish it would have been more lighter. I have used other wireless keyboard &mouse from logitech and this did not disappoint me and some short keys of MS Office are really cool.

5 Star Review Full featured Keyboard/Mouse Set

Strengths:

Erognomatic Media Keyboard, Wireless, Good Battery Life, Solidly built, hand rest

Weaknesses:

No lights on keyboard (for Caps lock, Number lock)

Posted Feb 27, 2008 - In the past, I have had problems with a couple Microsoft products (both were mouse products that worked poorly). I have been using the Microsoft Laser Desktop 4000 for a little under two weeks now, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. The keyboard has just about every button that you can think of (having buttons for media functions and internet browsing). The mouse is the same way as it even has a button for zooming in (similar to a magnifying glass). The mouse/keyboard requires 4AA batteries (two for each device), and it communicates with the computer wirelessly with a hub device. Battery life is exceptional, and I have had no problems with battery life and wireless connection (once I got the hang of the device - it may requires an initial reboot after installation). I am typing this review with the exact keyboard/mouse set and I give this product a "highly recommended" score. Buy it today!

4 Star Review Solid product

Strengths:

-The keyboard is somewhat ergonomic, but is not hard to adjust to if having previously used a standard keyboard -Wireless up to about 6 feet -Magnifying feature

Weaknesses:

There are not any real weaknesses, except for the fact that the button on the mouse (approximately where your palm would rest) is somewhat awkward.

Posted Feb 23, 2008 - Overall, this keyboard is solid. Aside from the awkward mouse button, this keyboard gets the job done and is comparable to other wireless keyboard/mouse combos in its price range.

5 Star Review Seems like a decent set.

Strengths:

Low cost, easy setup and connection, wireless connectivity, mouse has 3rd and 4th buttons plus wheel.

Weaknesses:

Mouse button in awkward position. Keyboard rest needs more cushioning.

Posted Feb 20, 2008 - I'm right handed and the mouse button on the right(forward) can be pressed easily when trying to grip the mouse but it's nice to have the forward and back buttons than not have them at all. I'm not using this frequently as it's part of an HTPC setup. So far, no problems with losing connectivity but only tested at 5 feet range. Works in Kubuntu Linux. The keyboard is kind of wide but it looks good and adds extra features with the width. The price was phenomenal at $16 at Staples but that was a one day sale.

4 Star Review A solid product if you can get it on sale

Strengths:

The mouse is nice and comfortable, with good battery life. The keyboard also has common keys that double as customizable ones, such as the F-keys. Nice soft wrist-rest too.

Weaknesses:

The keyboard and mouse can only be used at up to 6 ft., which is bad news for people hoping to work on their couch. The keyboard also has too many extra buttons that just add to looks.

Posted Feb 12, 2008 - This keyboard was not my number 1 choice, but it was a pretty good contender for the price (purchased for $15). I would probably go with a slicker Logitech product if I had a higher budget. That being said, I was happy to see that everything installed and set up fairly quickly with no hassles. I enjoy having the soft wrist rest at the front of the keyboard, and the laser accuracy of the mouse is very precise. I have not yet tested it with gaming, but so far I have not experienced very much lag when typing from a distance. Overall, I think that this can be hit-or-miss with people. If you don't like lots of extra buttons on your keyboard, then go with a simpler model. But if you are one who uses their keyboard to control their computer, I would definitely look into this wireless laser desktop.

5 Star Review Great combo...better than logitech

Strengths:

Very stylish, looks expensive, very comfortable. Works from far away. Doesn't eat batteries.

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted Feb 12, 2008 - I got this product from Staples on sale. It's a great ergonomic keyboard. The ergonomic keyboard isn't spaced too large so its an easy transition coming from a standard keyboard. I'd recommend this product.
