Startup sounds like a 2 cycle engine loud annoying

Posted 2 months ago - I purchased this on 5-16-09. Lately when i turn my laptop on (which was purchased same date). the pad sounds like a sick two cycle engine. I have to tap it a few times to make it quiet.Iuse it on a flat surface only with the back cord cover raised. I took it back on 9-2-09, for exchange with no success. What can you do to resolve this or shall i just chuck it, and buy a different product that works right?
