This is a great upgrade to the standard ibm battery. Much better battery life. My old battery was only getting about an hour of life. This one is getting a little over four hours.

TopStrengths: long battery life, compact size
Weakness: a little bit heavy
This is the 2nd battery for me. The first one is dying, although only 60 circles, but I can only charge it to half what original capacity is, even now system giving me red status on that old battery. I am thinking maybe I should not connect to the AC adapter all the time while I am working at home. But anyway, it has been running for 2-3 years, it’s about time anyway. This new battery I bought from the vendor listed in pricegrabber.com, the battery is excellent, and even has a little more total capacity than the 1st one. Maybe IBM has better technology now. In my opinion, the battery of laptop is very important, laptop is all about mobility, and only a good battery life can support that. I am happy with this new battery.

TopStrengths: 9 cell battery! last about 4-5 hours on T42
Weakness: heavy, and stick out at the back of thinkpad
This is a must have if your work require you to be on the road or the need to use your thinkpad with battery.
This battery stick out that the back of the thinkpad but still look great.
There's a new 9 cell battery from IBM (model #92P1102) coming out right now which is better than this one.

TopStrengths: This battery is much more long lasting than the battery that came with the laptop orignially.
Weakness: This battery was bigger and bulkier than the original battery. It hangs out the back of the laptop.
The battery that came with laptop died and this one was a great replacement. I use this computer for personal home use so it wasn't a big deal that the battery stuck out the back but it may be an inconvience for those that use it for business. We recieved this battery quickly.

TopStrengths: Almost double battery life compare to the original battery came with my T40 thinkpad
Weakness: Too big too heavy compared to the original one
I travel a lot with my Thinkpad T40. The original battery can run about 2 and half to 3 hours. The T40 is very light, very powerful. The only thing I miss is a better battery that can run longer. I have heard about a 9 cell model can run about 5 hours. Now I found a good deal from pricegrabber, so I ordered it right away. The battery came pretty fast, but on my first sight, it disappointed me a little bit. Because it looks much bigger than the original, I even thought they must have shipped a wrong battery to me. Eventually I managed to install the battery, seams like this 9 cell battery attaches one more cell at edge of the original. It feels much heavier, and destroyed beauty and lean of my laptop. If I knew it is that big, I probably wont order it. Well, since it is here, I dont have much choice. I'm expecting the battery can at least run 5 hours, better can reach 6. I will update my experience after I use it for a while.

Lenovo Rechargeable Notebook Battery
Strengths: Lasts about 4.5 hours. Genuine IBM product. 1 year warranty.
Weakness: Sticks out from the rear of the laptop. Takes awhile to fully charge.
This is a great addition to the Thinkpad. The standard 6 cell battery just doesn't cut it. I have a T42 and the 6 cell was lasting about 2-3 hours. With the 9 cell, I'm getting about 4.5 hours. I also have the Ultrabay Slim battery, which adds about 1.5 hours. So, in total I'm getting about 6 hours with WiFi on and screen at 1/2 brightness. Overall, this is a GREAT additional option to your Thinkpad. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
