4 Star Review XMS2 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit (1GBx2)

Strengths:

Runs 4-4-4-12 as advertised on my Asus P5B Deluxe without any issues. I'm able to overclock my E6300 3+ghz without any issues.

Weaknesses:

cost

Posted Jan 4, 2007 - These are quality Corsair RAM and you get what you paid for. There are certainly better performing DDR2 kits available, including some from Corsair themselves, but for the money you will pay you definitely receive excellent value with this Corsair XMS2 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit.

4 Star Review A can't miss for DDR2 and AM2 sockets!

Strengths:

1) Incredible low price for 2GB! 2) Manufacturer matched kit 3) 800Mhz

Weaknesses:

1) Questionable heat spreader

Posted Jun 14, 2006 - Having just purcahsed a new Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe I wanted to find memory that would compliment the motherboard. Since this motherboard doesn't support the new SLI EPP memory standard that automatically overclocks your ram, I figured that I would forgo overclocking altogether and just use the highest rated memory speed Asus officially supports. The M2N32-SLI allows the use of DDR2 memory modules in Dual Channel mode at 800Mhz so having RAM to take advantage of that is necessary to maximize the speed of your computer. Setting up the BIOS was really easy as the RAM was instantly recognized and I just set it to the JDEC SPD standard. After a few days usage, the memory seems to run extremely stable and having 2GB's for encoding DVD's and running other programs at the same time is a dream to have. Hurry out and get yourself a pair and with a $40 rebate from zipzoomfly.com, its a complete steal when compared to the Corsair 2GB PC2-5400 DDR2 DIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit. A warning however, I'm used to seeing memory modules come with aluminum heat spreaders which would make sense as it does disperse heat quite well. With this Corsiar memory kit the heat spreaders feel like they're either plastic or else they have a lot of clear coat on them which makes me suspicious of its heat handling capabilities. Since I don't overclock my ram, I haven't found this to be a set back but others might.

5 Star Review XMS2 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit (1GBx2)

Strengths:

Speed

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Jul 16, 2006 - I had no problems at all installing this memory into my computer and getting it to recognize it properly. This memory runs extremely fast and I didn't have to do anything special with my computer to get it to do so, which is great. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a 2GB Matched Pair of DDR2 memory.

5 Star Review great ddr2 memory!

Strengths:

-extremely reliable -lower voltage; works well on AM2 platform motherboards -great price - $150 after rebates

Weaknesses:

-not the fastest CAS times as some of corsair's other ddr2-800 dimms; but that speed comes at a premium price

Posted Aug 24, 2006 - I used this memory in a recently built AMD X2 3800+ system. It's the new AM2 platform that required DDR2. Some of the early AM2 nforce5 motherboards had incompatibilities with high speed DDR2-800 modules that required flashing a new BIOS. However, that would require POSTing with spare DDR2 modules (that were compatible), which I didn't have. After researching it seems that most of the incompatibilities were with OCZ modules. Thus, to save myself any trouble I went with the Corsair modules, which don't require as much power/voltage as the OCZ modules do.

5 Star Review Best bang for the buck

Strengths:

Solid memory, lifetime warranty, low 1.9v at stock ensures very few compatibility issues, OCs to DDr2-1,000mhz+ at 5-5-5-15 2v!!

Weaknesses:

Still a little pricey, but I got mine with a $40 rebate which helps some... RAM does not work with more than 2.1v going into it

Posted Aug 22, 2006 - This is some great memory! OCed my E6300 to a 501FSB and even higher, running this memory at over 1,000mhz speeds at 5-5-5-15 with only 2v. RAM was not that warm to the touch either. Attempted to overvolt to lower the timings down to 4-4-4-10 but I could not get that to work for me, but YMMV. This RAM OCs much better anyway... ;) Was using a Gigabyte DS3 that came with the F1 BIOS, which is known for booting at only 1.8v for the RAM. This RAM didn't care and actually worked without issue at only 1.8v before I realized it was undervolted and fixed it. So I'd have to say this memory runs great with almost any motherboard out there, since a few others also share the 1.8v out of the box "bug" like the DS3.

4 Star Review Corsair XMS2 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 Memory Kit

Strengths:

Cheap after rebate. Lifetime Warranty.

Weaknesses:

CAS timing is just 5.

Posted Oct 31, 2006 - I bought this memory at $150 after rebates when the memory price just started inflating. This is good memory for a moderate overclocker. I used this on DFI 975x/g with Core 2 Duo E6300. The motherboard has some limitation on the overclocking. However, this is one of the best overclockable memory on that motherboard.

5 Star Review Corsair 2Gb kit, 6400 ddr2

Strengths:

Price

Weaknesses:

Corsair makes it,

Posted Sep 4, 2006 - The reason i wrote corsair as a weakness is because i bought a 1GB kit and the two Sims didn't match, it was very odd. Its surprising i bought from them again, but i couldn't resist the deal that zipzoomfly was offering. There isn't anything wrong with this ram, it has everything it offers, i have to overclock to reach the 6400 speed but i don't mind at all. I would recommend this ram if need be.

5 Star Review Great Ram!!!

Strengths:

Good performance/price; very decent latency (5-5-5-12 @1.9v); DDR2 is noticeably better than regular DDR.

Weaknesses:

None...Unless you are an extreme, extreme, overclocker.

Posted Aug 4, 2006 - You really do get what you pay for with this ram. The only ram out there better than this is quite a bit more expensive. On top of that, you can get a good deal if you find it with a rebate. So far I have not had any problems and could not be more pleased.

5 Star Review Corsair Review

Strengths:

Works perfectly.

Weaknesses:

None.

Posted Jan 25, 2007 - I used this memory to build an overclocked Core2 e4300 machine. It's working really well and I have a stable system at 3.15ghz with 45-55C temps on full load. I'm also using a Tuniq 120 fan. Definitely grab this if you are building a budget system and need the HQ memory for overclocking.

1 Star Review Tried in 3 Boards -- Problems

Strengths:

None -- price, if they work for you.

Weaknesses:

Um, they don't work well and sometimes not at all.

Posted Mar 6, 2008 - Maybe mine are just defective BUT... In one (Tyan) board they didn't work. In others (MSI, ECS) it was subtly unstable -- until the screen went black -- after trying to reload Windows, even, I replaced them with others and system ran fine.

2 Star Review 2 out of 4 worked

Strengths:

Good if it works.

Weaknesses:

Bought two kits and each kit had one bad stick. Waiting now for RMA approval.

Posted Feb 16, 2007 - So far, I'm not too impressed with Corsair, at least with this particular product. It's my first memory purchase from them after reading great things about their products. As I stated above, one stick in each 2gig pack was bad/wouldn't post. I'll give two stars for the working sticks, but paying for 4 and only getting 2 that work doesn't cut it in this price range. Currently waiting for a response to my RMA request...
