There are other better laptops out there, however, it is great to get it for under $450, battery life is ok around 2 hours, it is thin and Light and also come with a DVD Writer.

Weakness: Hard Drive sucks. Customer services sucks. I have already had to send in the laptop for a repair twice. I have had to mess around with the operating system countless times. Its crap. Gateway is crap
The one thing that I have learned from all this is that Gateway sucks. Their customer service especially from the corporate department sucks. If you do end up buying the computer, then consider investing in a warranty.

Compared to other labtops I had, the best part of this computer is the screen. My eyes do not hurt after I work with the computer for 3 to 4 hours continually. Very thin and light, easy to carry with. DVD/CD writer is very useful when I want to save the files. Great value.

TopStrengths: Great features
Weakness: Video not great for gaming
3 things I would like on this laptop to make it better, better video card for gaming, faster hard drive (drive is only 4200 RPM), and better availability of higher capacity batteries. Overall, this laptop is great, with exception of low battery life. As far as I can tell, there are no replacement batteries available. Very fast and reliable, physically sound as well. Nice screen too.

Centrino is the Best so far. Thin and Light. DVD Writer helps alot. Need to upgrade the ram/memory to make it faster enough. Get rid of all the junk that comes pre-installed.

TopStrengths: For a reasonable price, you get more laptop than most. Carries Centrino brand. Thin and light! Includes DVD-RW. Customer support is better than most. Integrated wireless.
Weakness: Motherboard only supports a 1.8 GHz Pentium M processor. No TV/Video out.
I traded up from a Dell Inspiron 1100 with a 2.4 Celeron processor to this machine. It works much faster, is much thinner and lighter. I am very satisfied. RAM is upgradable to 2 MB. I tried installing a 2.0 GHZ pentium M, but it only ran as a 1.5 GHz. There is no BIOS update for the motherboard to recognize higher speeds, and tech support tells me the fastest processor it will support is a 1.8 GHz Pentium M.

I like this machine so much, not because of it's good design, but becasue of its perfect performance. seems everything works fine till now, love it so much! am going to upgrade the memory to keep it longer!

Gateway 4542GP Notebook
Strengths: Very good technical support !!!
Weakness: the fan is making loud noise. It was just that the system was INCREDIBLY slow. It took atleast 3 minutes to start up. They installed a lot of worthless crap and my friends told me to stay away from sp2 The Gateway doesn't have a TV-out jack
The Laptop also includes 6 blank CD-r's when you first boot it up it will ask you to create your recovery discs and it will create 5 recovery dics that you can use should the PC angel partion become corupt. Before the system boots into windows depress the F11 key will trigger the restore process.
