Great Buy for the price

Strengths: Remote, screen

Weakness: battery life, weight

I didn't think that I could get a laptop that performs this good at this price. It has absolutely no problems playing HD videos, and has an excellent screen. Nice build quality, and the keyboard and touchpad are comfortable to use. It's a good sized laptop, and is not too heavy. The only complaint I have is the battery life isn't so great, maybe 2.5 hours at default settings. I'm sure there's extended batteries that I can purchase. Overall, this laptop is an excellent choice, and value.

Great Laptop

Strengths: Excellent multimedia PC, Dual Core processor, excellent screen (sharp), fast DVD/CD writer, two earphone jacks, and great speakers.

Weakness: A little heavy, no web cam, no PCMCIA slot, and you have to use function keys to control the brightness and sharpness of the screen.

This is an excellent laptop! HP has made a very good multimedia PC with two earphone jacks (perfect for playing a DVD on the plane!), good speakers, a great DVD/CD writer, and plenty of USB ports. The lack of a PCMCIA and web cam are a little disappointing but the price ($699 after rebates) made up for all of that!

nice laptop

Strengths: screen, price

Weakness: battery

After I searched around for a long time, this was the first laptop that I purchased! It is a great buy!! The sound quality is awesome and the display is so sharp and bright! The battery life doesnt last that long...a little over 2 hours. But if you keep it plugged in if you can while using it, it's no big problem. The remote and the quickplay buttons are a plus! Windows Vista is a great help and very easy to get used to. I would highly recommend this HP

Full Featured Bargain

Strengths: attractive styling, lots of features, budget priced, light weight, nice size screen, and Vista!

Weakness: DVD Burner is a little slow during writes at times but gets the job done. Average stock battery.

I bought this notebook the week of the Vista release. It can be found for about $700 with a rebate. So far it has been dependable and a pleasure to use. It has about anything you could want in a notebook. A large drive, dvd burner, plenty of ram, wireless,Vista, plenty of ports, card reader, good sound, great looks, and a nice screen. The battery last about 2 to 3 hours. About average for a stock battery. It's not the top of the line for a notebook but it's not a bargain basement stripped down model either. For the money it is a solid performer, reasonably quick, and a bargain that should handle most needs or entertainment. For this price range and features I give it 5 stars. Good job HP

Good For The Money

Strengths: Bright display, very quiet, fast & easy features!

Weakness: Not shure about battery life, very sinsitive mouse pad!

I am not a computer geek but, I have owned: Toshiba, Dell, Sony & HP. This is HP #2. After pricing on-line and in stores, I am happy with this new HP. I still have my Sony (at twice the price of the HP's), but I am liking the HP more. DavidSMCA

Great Entertainment Laptop

Strengths: Dual core processor, price, remote, large memory...

Weakness: No built-in web camera, DVD burner not so good. Crappy HP total care program.

Well, this is a good entry-level laptop for family. The screen, the remote and the speakers are great for watching DVDs. The laptop is stylish especially compared to old HP lappies.

The HP total care window jumps out frequently whenever you are using the laptop. This is annoying but I found a solution to turn it off buy googling.

The entry-level dual core processor, 1 GB memory and 120GB HD make it quite enough for everyday computing.

Decent laptop for decent price

Strengths: Vista home premium, good size hard drive and ram, and other decent all-around specs, good battery life

Weakness: runs a bit warm near battery and/or processor (not sure which it is)

I got a good deal on this laptop and that is what I suggest as well. The specs are pretty good for this computer and overall it's a great laptop for pleasure, fun, etc, and it can be an everyday computer, just not for major computing. That said, it's good as long as the price is decent...be sure to check all prices and make sure you're not overpaying. Otherwise, my only complaint really is that the computer runs extremely warm in some areas.
