Strengths: Display, Touchpad, Keyboard
Weakness: Battery Life
I had this wireless card "issue" as well, it is due to the card entering low-power state when using battery power.
This is the DEFAULT setting, but can be easily changed.
control panel > system > hardware > device manager > network adapters > intel PRO/wireless 2200BG > advanced > Power management > uncheck "use default value" > move slider to "highest"
You will no longer experience this annoying problem! At full power this wireless card has very good range and will never disconnect you.
Also, I have gotten 2 hours out of this battery while watching movies on a plane ride. There is also a high capacity battery available for about $150 which has roughly twice the capacity as the stock battery. If you keep the screen at full power it dies in about 50 minutes no matter what you are doing.
There is no firewire port on this computer.

TopStrengths: Sleek Design and that is it!
Weakness: Sony again has sacraficed looks over performance. The ONLY good thing about this computer is the monitor and the case. The actual guts are junk!
The actual components in all of sony's laptops are put together horribly! They update the software for the componets very rarely. The tech support rarely has a clue what is going on and is under trained. I have had a constant blue screen error since I bought this laptop and I have called tech support numerous times to help me with it. They tell me that the last time the driver was updated was a year ago! I expect a lot more from a major company like sony.
I would also like to mention that THESE LAPTOPS ARE MADE N CHINA! They are not made in Japan so don't fool yourself and think that they are. If you don't start having problems with this laptop after a year it will be a miracle.

It is the best laptop i have ever seen.I strongly recommend this laptop. It's 15.4 inch widescreen gives amazing display quality and 1.73 to 2.0 processor(a.k.a Sonoma) is designed for both performance and battery life. Finally,it is Sony.

TopYou must not use the laptop much. HOw can you list Battery life as a weakness and then go on to say that the processor is designed for "batter life". And what does it having to be a Sony do with its quality?? The laptop isn't even made in Japan its made in China! All of Sony's computer products are junk. Please never waste your money on them EVER!
NEVER BUY SONY VAIO (TVs, cameras are fine, but avoid Sony notebooks by all means)
I bought Sony Vaio ( a piece of Garbage made in china) from Bestbuy and it worked for 20 days and then LCD blackned out. Sony Vaio series notebooks have major problem in their circuits and designs specially with regard to LCD. Their products are moreless made of low quality chinese stuffs. Hard disk is made by somebody else, memeory is supplied by somebody else, CPU is somebody else . Usually their cables are of very bad quality between the joints, when you fold the notebook , it is quite common that- your LCD WILL NOT FUNCTION. Also some models have illumination in LCD which has got very low life. In my case that LCD worked for just 20 days. on top of that their customer support is just automated messages, call centres located in some part of world and CSRs offer you only to kill your time and to loop you around one phone to another while making you hold for long time. I have kissed good bye to Sony vaio more because of their ripping service and low corporate values and ethics. It sucks all the time.

Sony VAIO FS660/W 15.4" Notebook - Pentium M 740...
Strengths: Display, Design
Weakness: Battery, Wireless
There are a few major drawbacks in this notebook:
1. The battery lasts for only 1.5 hour configured with the highest battery
saving option (Lowest Screen Brightness etc.) while using only internet (no heavy apps) !!!
I have tested it with many options but you don't go above 1.5 hours.
The life span for these type of batteries are 500 cycles charge/dishcharge.
2. The Intel 2200BG Wireless Card which comes with this laptop and also other laptops
such as DELL, have a major problem of a "Lost connection" where you get disconnected
every 1 minute for a 10-30 seconds. You can search for this problem on GOOGLE and see
that lots of people have this unsolved issue !!!
Sony support was unable to solve this issue, Intel and Sony blame each other.
I managed somehow to solve this problem after 3 Days, non-stop sitting with the laptop.
The only way is to uninsatll the 9.0 version and download the 8.0 version from Intel
and install both Software and Drivers from Intel and let Intel's software manage your
Wireless instead of Windows XP.
3. The maximum RAM which can be installed is up to 1GB.
The bottom line, we are paying a lot of money for Mobile computing when we don't
actually get it in this notebook (both battery life and wireless).
Although I like very much the Design and the Display I have decided
I am returning this notebook !!!

I don't have a FS660w, but I want to say that the Intel 2200BG works fine with S150. It might be just the low battery problem. I've never had any disconnection problem at all.
