Posted Aug 15, 2006 - Am I the only one that has found the MagSafe connector to be not as useful as originally thought? I'm constantly finding my MacBook Pro disconnected, just by moving it from my lap to my desk. The slightest pull from the cord disconnects it. I was sitting on the couch in my hotel room tonight, sat the computer on the coffee table and a few hours later when I picked it up, realized it had been unplugged all that time. Major problem as I was getting ready to go get on a plane and wanted to use it, but hardly any battery time left. I want my old power cord back (but not my old PB!).

Posted Jul 22, 2006 - Hello, The Sony VGN-FJ270/B is a nice laptop. I bought one in the Dutch Antilles/ Caribbean. Sony does not deliver installation CD's/ DVD's with the laptop. You should burn them yourself, if you don't you have a problem. I have a problem... I am back in Europe, The Netherlands, and I had to reinstall Xp after partitioning the HDD, which failed. There is an RECOVERY DVD from SOny available, but only in the USA, and they don't deliver to Europe (!) Is someone (owning a FJ270) willing to help, i.e. burn a DVD/CD's a send them to me? Of course I will pay expenses etc Other suggestions are also welcome. Thanks a lot in advance, Ed

Posted Jul 17, 2006 - I probably shouldnt complain, But I just ordered my macbook a couple days ago, and I just recived news it wasnt coming until august 1! thats almost 20 days from when I ordered it. I was a little upset, but am still excited! I am thinking that once they ship it out (it still hasnt shipped out) that the delivery time might go down a little. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

Posted Jun 11, 2006 - I bought my MacBook about 10 days ago now and I think it is the business. There is a little that I dislike about it and much to admire; great stying, fast surfing and good battery life. Yes it does get a little warm but nothing alarming! All in all I am extremely happy. I have just one concern; my wife and I have already spent quite a lot of time browsing on the internet and although I purchased Symantec's Internet Security for the Mac I have not yet installed it because it is not a Universal Application and I did not want to inhibit my Mac's performance! Is there a Universal Internet Security product out there somewhere?

Posted May 8, 2006 - This Notebook is suppose to handle wireless a,b,g but it only handles b and g. It will not do wireless a (5ghz). Also, the finger print scanner does not work which prompts you to enter password instead. The battery life is like that of a pentium 4 desktop processor and lasts about 2 hours long(Granted that its in stamina mode with full brightness because the display is very dark.) Best Buy advertised this VGN-SZ110B model as having 256MB memory on the nVidia card in speed mode. This is not the case. (See Best Buy website). The touchpad is real hincky and does not respond everytime after adjustments and driver reinstalls. After talking to Tech support and OS re-installs, the problems remain. The Sony Service Center put in a replacement wireless Nic but did not test it before sending it back. If you want a notebook with wireless a capability, then don't get this notebook.

Posted Apr 29, 2006 - I'm currently working on a 3004WLCi. It has blue screens within two to three minutes after booting. Not sure what the issue is but it seems to be hardware related. This machine was bought new just a couple months ago. I'm disgusted that Acer doesn't even have any information for it one their website yet. Only the product manuals. I also noticed that the BIOS has a very limited amount of settings, perhaps as basic as I've ever seen. Smells a little cheap.

Posted Apr 9, 2006 - I bought a brand new Averatec AV3175 notebook yesterday and since it was a display model I had to reinstall the software in the form of recovery disks. I was surprised to find out that the disks would not perform the clean up of the system and hence I now have a non usable notebook. I tried to install Linux and this worked fine. I am going back to the store to find out why the manufacturer's recovery disks will not work. Anyone had a similar story?

Posted Mar 20, 2006 - All right... So I'm looking to see if anyone has solved the issue of the 8GB recovery partition. Here is a recap of my problem: Instead of receiving a set of discs for the OS, drivers, and application recovery, I now have an 8GB partition. There is the option of creating my own discs via my DVD-RW drive. But, the drivers and applications are unable to be copied in such a manner. In fact, they must remain in the partition. Making the lost partition space unrecoverable. I have contacted HP several times about the matter, and requested a set of original discs that include the OS, drivers, and applications so I may regain the lost hard drive space. HP's final response thus far is that: (A.) Because the model is so new they do not have such drivers and apps in their database, so no discs could be created at this time. (B.) Based on previous request on other model notebooks, such discs would cost me at least $100 So, now on top of having to wait for recovery discs to be created, I am going to be charged for a mistake HP made. I say mistake because it is a waste of my hard drive space, and really inconveniences me so that they can save a little money on discs. Another problem with such a recovery method, is that you do not choose which apps or drivers are reinstalled on you PC, as the original discs would allow you to do. Instead all apps and drivers are installed again to factory settings, making recovery a pain. And, in one unavoidable case creates a problem for my Norton software. If anyone has had better luck with HP... or found another solution for this, please let me know. I would be most appreciative...
