A Gentleman's Grass Trimmer
Light weight, easy to use, no gas and electric cord
Small battery capacity and long charging time, not very powerful, suitable only for light trimming work
Posted Jun 10, 2007 - I labeled it as a "gentleman's grass trimmer" because a serious yard worker may not be happy with it. When I ordered the trimmer, I was thinking about the light trimming work around my house. It seems what it is capable to do is only just that. It is mostly made of plastic and is, therefore, not too heavy. Two 18V Ni-Cd batteries (each weighing about 2 pound) came with the order ($99.99 plus free shipping). When I first opened the shipped package, I was eager to use the trimmer. I charged a battery for about an hour and it gave me only a few minutes of trimming. A battery charged overnight can last about 20 minutes. Including two batteries in the package is definitely a necessity. Overall, the trimmer is simple to use (no gas, no electric cord, just mount the battery and start to work) and suitable for light trimming work (0.065" line size). According to my wife's observation, I seem to enjoy "playing" with it.
