Take advantage of the precision and maintenance-free operation of optical technology with the Corded TrackMan Wheel from Logitech. With a sleek design and intuitive placement of the ball, scroll wheel, and buttons, the TrackMan Wheel is ideal for long hours of use. It fits comfortably in your right hand and delivers smooth, precise tracking through Logitech's optical Marble technology. And because it records motion optically instead of with mechanical parts, there's no need for regular cleaning. minimize

Strengths:

Saves space, does not roll around and pick up crumbs, uses optical sensor so movement is smooth and the wheel aids quick scrolling.

Weaknesses:

When they are brand new out of the box they are a little tight. The ball does not move smooth until it is broken in. This can be quickly fixed by spinning the ball fast several times back and forth.

Posted Sep 18, 2003 - Over the last 3 years I have installed this trackball on over 150 PC stations that we support. I have only had 1 of them wear out, one get zapped by lightning and have never had a bad one out of the box. I had to drag a few of my clients kicking and screaming into the world of trackballs but all of them became big fans of them. Many called later to see about buying one for their home computers.

Strengths:

Ergonomic design, small footprint. Keeps others off my computers. Works great with Linux.

Weaknesses:

Takes a little getting use to

Posted May 24, 2004 - I have been using the Logitech Trackman Wheel for about 3 years now. I think it is great. The ergonomic design is comfortable for me. It takes us less space on my desk and the ball rolls with practically no resistance. It does take a little getting use to if you have never used a trackball before. I have one of these on each one of my computers, 2 in my office at 3 at home. I sold my wife and my son on the Trackman and they both love it. If you are looking for a comfortable trackball, this one can't be beat for the price. It works with my Linux machines right out of the box. The best part is that it keeps people from using my computer. People try to move the trackman around like a mouse on my desk and finally give up. Between the trackman and an ergonomic keyboard, I never have to worry about my computer being used by anyone else.

5 Star Review Logitech TrackMan Wheel USB/PS2 Optical

Strengths:

Definitely reduces hand & wrist movement. Very quick, precise movements. Ergonomic design is great. Excellent price for this little "wonder mouse"! (Shop around.)

Weaknesses:

Absolutely none, but you must take the time to get used to it.

Posted Mar 5, 2006 - I would not be without my TrackMan Wheel. I currently use a cordless at home, which is awesome. I have a corded model at work, which functions just as well. After using mine, my entire family (8) AND my co-workers bought this TrackMan. They love it as much as I do. I actually bought 2 extras just to have on hand. Thanks, Logitech, for doing such great work!

5 Star ReviewI've had a Logitech Trackball, then the Logitech " ...

Strengths:

Very percise adjustment available through include software. Can move very far, very fast in games where enemies are shooting you and therefore miss. 3 buttons can be programed multiple ways!

Weaknesses:

Get's getting used to, but once you do indeed get used to it, you'll never go back to a mouse.

Posted Apr 20, 2002 - I've had a Logitech Trackball, then the Logitech "Marble" Optical Trackball, and now this. The trackball's strength is in games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Commando, etc. In these games you can fly through 3 to 4 corridors and their doors before enemy shooters can get a bead on you. A mouse at the most can get you through one door and 1-1/2 corridors before you run out of arm or mousepad. Don't listen to the other two unreliable poor sentence composers, precision is easily adjustable via software. Nowadays it's even an included program in the Windows Control Panel. Ultra precision can be had by using your left pointer finger and right thumb in conjunction. The mouse is just so slow to get to one side of the screen to the other...ever have to lift and place??? Especially with big monitors, you'll never have to lift and place again! The really great feature is the 3 buttons of Logitech. You can program the middle button. You can program the two left buttons as the same time to do something PER PROGRAM, the right two buttons at the same time PER PROGRAM, the left and right buttons together, and then all three buttons! Of course you can have these programs default to something in every program. Great software, ultra advantages in corridor/door programs, "never have to lift and place again", and the use of desk space of only a 4" x 6" photo (try that with a mouse pad!!!) makes this a device worth getting used to after two weeks of computering! I can't recommend these enough!!!

5 Star Review Exceptional mouse

Strengths:

Perfect

Weaknesses:

I don't have more.....yet

Posted Jan 15, 2008 - I've used the same mouse for about eight years. I got it with my first computer I bought while in the military. The paint is coming off the back, the rubber foot pads are long gone and this mouse still gives me no problems. Pop the ball out and clean the inside every so often and you're good to go. I'm a gamer so I spend long hours at the computer and put this mouse through the ringer. Thrown around, dropped, traveled around the world. It just won't quit on me.

2 Star Review A Thumb Downer

Strengths:

Well built, space economical, inexpensive

Weaknesses:

Not suitable for extended use, high angular motion or more chaotic manipulation like with graphics or digital audio production type applications.

Posted Jul 13, 2007 - I was initially quite happy with the Trackman Wheel which is appropriate for short duration browsing or general use, however working under prolonged periods or with material using a high frequeny of angular motion such as vector graphics, multimedia, Digital Audio Workstation Production, or working with multiple monitors put an incredible stress on my thumb. A better choice for comfortable work requires forefinger plus middle finger control with the trackball located center and forward such as with the Trackball Explorer or the Kengsington Expert Mouse (but not Logitech's Marble Mouse) After using most of the trackball controllers available I do not recommend this device in any way. Choices are limited but the best trackball suited for the above types of work and my hand size is the new model Kengsington Expert.

5 Star Review The Big Hand's Buddy

Strengths:

Comfort,Precision and Accuracy can't be beat...eliminates "unnecessary movement" of regular mice- ideal for anyone that logs long hours on the computer

Weaknesses:

Takes a short while to adjust to the design, though wheel sensitity can be adjusted.

Posted Sep 13, 2005 - If you have big fat hands like me, this is the mouse for you! A regular mouse gets lost somewhere in the palm of my hand, forcing me to use uncomfortable adjustments to get my fingers on the buttons. This mouse eliminates the problem completely!

Strengths:

Precision and Control are exceptional. You do not run off the end of your mousepad as with conventional products. The position of the trackball is ergonomical and easy to use.

Weaknesses:

The palm molding is not for everyone. The size of the palm rest may be too large or too small for comfortable use.

Posted Jan 30, 2003 - This is the updated version of a classic. Logitech's thumb guided trackman is amazing. Precision and control are incredible. Gaming precision, such as in Diablo II is great - and you don't risk wrist or arm strain!!! You do not require a large amount of space to use them, making them a great accessory for the laptop computer. However, it is not for everyone. Some people have difficulty adjusting to using their thumb or find that the palm mold is not the correct size for their hand. If you are unsure, go play with one in a local computer store before parting with your hard-earned money.

Strengths:

Trackball can't be beat. Precision control, especially in a graphics or CAD Program. Uses less of the desk space. Highly customizable buttons and cursor movement. Durable.

Weaknesses:

No middle button on wheel models. I program the middle button for a double click. Pressing on the wheel instead of a button just isn't the same. (Cursor moves.)

Posted Jan 19, 2004 - Logitech was first with the 3-button mouse, the first with a PC trackball, the first with the optical trackball, and the first with Mouseware that let you customize buttons and cursor movement. Even back in the days of DOS/Win 3.0 you could tell Mouseware to move the cursor to the default button on the screen. MS copied that *years* later. They are still, IMHO, the best. My first "mouse" was a Logitech trackball, and it still is today. If you are a mouse user, it may take some getting used to but once you get used to it you will not know how you lived without it before.

Strengths:

optical

Weaknesses:

Not very comfortable for the thumb, too much useless light, Ball gets stucked with precise motion.

Posted Feb 2, 2002 - It is a nice trackball, but not as good as expected. The worst thing is that with precision movements, the ball gets slightly stucked, ruining the precision. It makes little jumps when moving slowly. So it is not very precise, which is the point of a trackball. And the position doesn't let my thumb be relaxed. I think it's too expensive for such product, this time logitech let me down. Better use logitech's optical wheel mouse.

Strengths:

Radio frequency let you put it anywhere. Nice counture design.

Weaknesses:

Too sensitive, fly's around the screen easy.

Posted Mar 19, 2002 - It looks sexy but I couldn't get used to it. I may be biased though because I've never had a track ball before. I just couldn't get they way it response so quickly. I definetly didn't have precise control.

5 Star Review awsome and wonderful

Strengths:

Fast ,smooth,easy on hand

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Feb 6, 2008 - You have to pop ball out every now and then clean it good, and clean off the 3 little nylon bushings inside, also if it moves too fast ,just go into your control panel, open printers and other hardware, click on mouse ,then adjust speed, the only bad reviews were its too fast, thats because they either dont know windows or how to adjust there hardware!!!JMHO>Marvin

5 Star Review I love this mouse!

Strengths:

Ergonomic design is fantastic

Weaknesses:

You have to get used to it but it doesn't take a long time to get there!

Posted Nov 16, 2007 - I have used this mouse for over 5 years. That's hundreds and thousands of hours. I have had to spray the ball with furniture polish to get it "cleaned" every once in a while otherwise it was "sticky" from the MANY hours of use! I love this mouse - I just purchased 2 more so that I won't run out! Get this picture!

5 Star Review flexible, repairable

Strengths:

good with limited space; good for playing games good for using laptop in bed

Weaknesses:

1. hard to highlight texts, should be very careful and very precise and then you get tired. 2. might develop arthrites

Posted Nov 9, 2007 - This trackball has so many advantages that overweighs the weaknesses such as highlighting and arthrites. Wonderful with limited space on the table, in bed or anywhere - you don't need a table or a flat surface. you can put it anywhere conveniently.

Strengths:

Good design, easy to use.

Weaknesses:

None.

Posted May 23, 2007 - The TrackMan Wheel is great for people who have a problem with achy hands and wrists using a regular mouse. It's very ergonomic and comfortable to use. I really like using it.
