Strengths:

Ergonomic, Precise and Reasonable Price

Weaknesses:

Slugging scroll and poor button position

Posted Nov 19, 2003 - The biggest advantage this MX 310 has over my old Microsoft Wireless Explorer is its lightness and comfort. Since wireless mouse has to carry batteries, it requires more hand strength to move the mouse, this makes my hand get tired so easily. This MX 310 has such an incredibly light weight and that increases the accuracy when I do graphic or drafting snap. The convenient internet navigation button located on two sides is good addition. One drawback with the side button is I have a hard time clicking the "forward" button with my little finger.

Strengths:

Tracking, weight, design, price

Weaknesses:

Size

Posted Mar 2, 2005 - The MX310 is truly superb. It has very smooth tracking and quick response to any movement. Compared to other pc mice I have used it seems feels as though it is well built. The Logitech mouse is very quiet I can barely hear it click and the scroll wheel is completely inaudible. It works perfectly with Mac OS X and does not detract from the appearance of my G4 Tower. Compared with the original apple optical mouse it is very light and having more than one button is a blessing. The only drawback is its size, but if you have been using the apple optical mouse without complaint the MX 310 is the same size.

Strengths:

Comfortable shape, convenient buttons (it has a button that allows you to switch the programms) and the price. Logitech rocks.

Weaknesses:

My notebook (running XP) does not go to standby mode when it is pluged in. That's why I give it four stars instead of five. It is the only problem I have so far.

Posted Jul 20, 2004 - It is overall a nice mouse. I recommend it. I think it is better than the wireless one I had before, also from Logitech, which always asks me to change the battery.

Strengths:

Perfect size and weight for my hand. Very comfortable and smooth when moving. 6 programmable buttons.

Weaknesses:

The scrolling wheel is a little small and hard. Sometimes hurt figures if scrolling a lot.

Posted Jun 14, 2004 - This great MX 310 mouse is very well designed and not like other big mouses, this one is not large and neither too light nor too heavy. I think it is perfect for girls' hand. The 6 buttons give me more flexiable options when surfing the net. The fast switching key can allow people to switch between windows without moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen. Highly recommend this mouse!

Strengths:

Very precise MX engine, contoured, comfortable

Weaknesses:

Too small

Posted Jun 13, 2004 - The MX310 is a good mouse for a good price. With the MX engine, it is a good mouse for gamers. However in my taste, it is too small. If you have a small hand, go for it. Otherwise, go with the MX500.

Strengths:

Price, accuracy, looks, simple installation, extra buttons

Weaknesses:

Small, poorly located fwd and back buttons

Posted May 21, 2004 - I did MUCH research before choosing this mouse and concluded that Logitech is the best mouse builder and that the MX-310 is the best bang for the buck. Would have chosen the MX-510 if it weren't so much more expensive for just two more buttons. Anyway, the MX-310 is the most feature rich mouse for the money (I paid only $15 after rebates, now Overstock.com has it that cheap BEFORE rebate!), solid construction, just the right resistance and tactile feedback with each button, remarkably precise and matches the new black computers. I programmed the scroll button to double click (launch) and the "quick switch" button to close a window, making my mousing extremely fast now. Logitech should have made the fwd and back buttons larger and lower as they did with the back button on their earlier mouse designs. Overall, a VERY good mouse!

Strengths:

- No-hassle installation & config - Feature level just right (4-way scroll + browser fwd/back)

Weaknesses:

- Fwd/back buttons placement - Color choices

Posted Mar 20, 2004 - Bought this mouse after much comparison. I have a Powerbook running MacOS 9.1 and XP laptop from work, and also experiment with Linux, so compatibility is priority #1. Also want more buttons this time to streamline web browsing. Don't need wireless or other fancy features. MS Intellimouse Explorer has all that and 4-way scrollwheel, which caught my attention. But I felt the tick-less wheel lacks precision, so out it goes. The Logitech MX series has many great reviews online, although 4-way scrolling was not mentioned. However, in the store I see a sticker advertising such pasted on the MX310 box - not printed in the feature list nor mentioned in the higher MX models. The scroll wheel on the store model seems to give a little sideways, so with some misgiving I bought it. Downloaded the current driver from Logitech site, rebooted and it's ready to go. Default setting is fine. Works with IE, Netscape, Excel and Photoshop. It turns out the horizontal scrolling is achieved by holding down the Option key, which is a bit annoying but acceptable. Also, wished that there are more color choices and better overall style. The silver/black design is PC-centric and doesn't go well together with the new Macs. (Granted it's hard to come up with something that works with all the desktop/laptops out there.) Overall, a good mouse for the price.

4 Star Review Logitech MX310

Strengths:

Very good feature set...Easy set up & use...Well made [construction]...

Weaknesses:

For my purposes, I can't say there are any.

Posted 1 month ago - The mouse was intended for use with a laptop & other than being a bit larger than so called laptop mice, the 310 works well. The software which comes with it installed smoothly on XP Pro in a IBM/Lenovo T60. I don't think the action is as smooth as the laser G5, but it cost me less than half the price.

Posted Jul 15, 2004 - Size and form work quite well for me. Button placement's also fine given what i usually do. Low weight means using it for hours each day has been no problem. Works fine with Mac OS X and Windows XP

Strengths:

high quality feel, not too pricey, very precise, extra buttons

Weaknesses:

scrollwheel could have slightly more 'click'

Posted Jun 18, 2004 - My old original Microsoft Intellieye optical was starting to go out on me, so I went shopping for a somewhat basic optical mouse replacement. I didn't need anything too fancy -- extra buttons and wireless don't mean much to me. I came across the MX310 on the web and liked what I saw, so I headed to the store to try it out. The feel of the logitech mice in general (mx500, mx700) feel very high quality, but I liked the MX310's size because it seems more suited to controlling it with your fingers rather than wrapping your whole hand around it. I'm very happy with the MX310 in general. I would like it if the scroll wheel protruded from the mouse a little more, and if the scrollwheel had a slightly stronger 'click' to it. At least it's not the completely loose wheel of the new Microsoft mice, yuck. I'm also coming to appreciate the extra buttons with their default actions of 'web page forward' and 'web page back.' I think the 'fast program switch' feature seems useless and I'll probably find a useful function to map to that button. I recommend the MX310 highly.

Strengths:

nice looking

Weaknesses:

not sharp enough

Posted Mar 27, 2004 - I always use Logitech mouse. Since I bought a new PC, I choose Logitech mouse again as my first option. But I think I did not get a good one this time, the left button of the mouse was broken after a week and it is not sharp at all. Now I just ask the store to replace a new one for me, hope that one will be better.
