Unacceptable: Failed after 41 days of use

Posted 1 year ago - This unit is very large, very light, and very quiet. However, I purchased one on September 8, 2008 and it failed on October 19, 2008 after humming and sparking for a week. I have returned it for repair or replacement and they tell me it will take up to six weeks to get it back. This is just about as long as it worked. Also, the software is very poor. The clock loses its settings after you set ANY options: click "Add a minute" and the clock reverts to "--.--"; reset the power level and the clock reverts to "--.--"; et cetera. Stay away from this product.

Microwave Oven Review - GE Profile is AWESOME

Posted 1 year ago - Our family is extremely happy with our new microwave. We have just totally re-done our kitchen, and while our new kitchen is beautiful, it seems that this new microwave receives all of the 'raves' from family members! This microwave oven does an especially beautiful job with frozen packaged foods, heating evenly and to the perfect temperature, and the pre-programmed buttons make it a cinch to operate sucessfully no matter what you are heating! The size is perfect for large dishes, such as 9 x 13 casseroles. The unit is very quiet, and easy to clean. We love this microwave and would suggest it to anyone looking for a table top model.

GE Profile Stainless Countertop Microwave

Posted Apr 12, 2008 - I've been using this Microwave for the last 2 months. It seems working great. I haven't run in any problems or complications described by other reviewers yet (I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping it won't happen anytime soon). So far I'm happy with this microwave, its functionalities, its look, and its size (cleaning and cooking large items are so much easier). I guess as long as if keeps working, it's a great microwave. I'll update this review, if something wrong with this thing.

Don't waste your money

Posted Apr 9, 2008 - I'll never buy another GE product after my experience with this microwave. Not only was the product a lemon but GE repair services are as unreliable as their product,not showing for confirmed appointments to repair their shoddy products. Additionally GE customer service representatives are difficult to reach and not interested in resolving customer problems.

I like this microwave

Posted Feb 8, 2008 - Our old microwave finally quit after 17 years of constant use. I knew it would be hard to find one made as well. This GE microwave seems to be made pretty well. It heats food quickly and I like the popcorn feature where you enter the popcorn bag size and you can start it and leave it. So far it is working great. I will have to get use to the fingerprints on the stainless.

Ge breakdowns

Posted Dec 14, 2007 - My previouse microwave was a top of the l ine GE Profile series. Over the years, I fixed it 6 times. Against my better judgment, I bought another one. Within 30 days the heating element went out. Nice try GE

Excellent microwave

Posted Dec 13, 2007 - The stainless steel was well protected and added a touch to the kitchen. Three different people tried it and were very impressed. Boiled 4c water for tea in less than 2 min.

This Microwave Is Unreliable, Buyer Beware!!!!

Posted Nov 19, 2007 - Based on the rating of this product in Consumer Reports, I purchased it to replace a Sharp microwave convection oven that had worked without needing repairs for almost 10 years. The Sharp was much more sophisticated. One month after purchasing this unit, it stopped working. The service person had to order the part ,a circuit board, which arrived a week later. Six months latter, it failed again. It would start, but stop after five seconds. The odor of a hot circuit board filled the kitchen. Again, the service person came out, but did not have the part and had to order it. A lemon or poor engineering? I will not be buying GE or trusting Consummer Reports. I advise others to stay away as well.

Still figuring it out...

Posted Aug 31, 2007 - Haven't gotten to try out all the bells and whistles, but it has worked fine thus far. This unit is gigantic!! In my tiny apartment kitchen, this thing eats up the vast majority of my countertop. Like the stainless steel look. Not so sure about the sensor cooking...I still tend to listen for the sizzle of the food to determine if it is hot enough. Highly rated by Consumer Reports, and I need a larger microwave, so I am satisfied thus far.

GE Microwave JES2251SJ

Posted Mar 17, 2007 - I researched microwaves very cafefully because I have a very special tall cup I wanted to fit in the microwave. GE says that this model has 11 1/2" cavity height. When I got the microwave the cup didn't fit. The cavity was only 10 5/8 inches high, usable space. They take their measurement without the turntable. Of course you can't use the microwave without the turntable. This type of measuring brings the 2.2 cu ft interior you pay for to a total of 1.5 cu ft usable space. That is according to Consumer's Reports, but I did not know it would affect the heigth measurement that much. How can you trust a manufacturer that lies and Customer Service that puts you on hold for over 30 minutes?

Good microwave oven (countertop model)

Posted Dec 18, 2006 - This microwave is highly rated in Consumers Reports as an efficient and "simple to use" appliance. The design is clean and attractive. And the function is very good. I would recommend this microwave oven to anyone who has the counter space available...but the capacity of this product is excellent if you require a large microwave oven.

Posted Sep 16, 2006 - This microwave is bit larger than we expected but it is a great product overall. It is especially helpful that you can cook by time, with the sensor features or with the auto feature.
