Audeo - (December 15, 2004) I bought the mznh-900 a few months ago for a 30 day vacation trip. Version B came out after I bought the 900. This unit is one step below the top of the line model. The hundred dollars saved went into a budget for an excellent pair of binaural microphones. I was pleased with not having to change discs and was busy recording lots of sounds in nature. There was 20 minutes left on the HD disc when disaster struck. I was recording a rainstorm in the dark and thought the unit was done saving. It turns out I moved it before it finished saving. A format error rendered the 45 hours of field recordings inaccessible. I am sticking to the old 74-80 minute discs for future field recordings because only

lodog00 - (April 21, 2005) This is an awesome (minor) update to the Sony Minidisc Line. I had the MZH-RH900, which was the same price as this model of minidisc, and was an excellent minidisc recorder/player as well. The upgrade was worth it for two reasons: the OLED, and the better navigation layout. Buttons are a bit on the small side, so if you have larger hands, you have been warned! No problems here on that end, I find the buttons easy enough to manage. Cosmetically, this thing rocks. The OLED with the gloss black faceplate is really a nice combination. The shiny silver trim is also a very nice touch. The only real criticism would probably be that the player is a fingerprint magnet. Also, the reduction in si

paddiwakk - (July 06, 2004) Well made product and easy to use, although some of the format choices are not well explained in the manual. The three line readout has all the info you would expect such as album, band, tracks, length, time remaining etc. Also allows sorting of music in various ways. Battery life is amazing. The new 1GB disks allow you to store 45 hours of music. Regardless of which file format you decide to use, the converting to the Sony format takes forever. To fill a 1GB disk with MP3 files seems to take about 6 hours (at least) - seems like it cant take advantage of USB 2.0

djxridaz - (03/21/2008) Great player/recorder for someone who is new to this technology. Wanted to get away from the monopoly apple has over the mp3 industry. So decided to get minidisc. Uses only 1 AA battery and lasts for over 40 hours. Headphones that are included sounds great. Player allows you to adjust bass/treble. Great buy with no regrets.
suniri - (09/18/2007) First off, I'm not a music/technical geek and this is just my second--first portable--MD player. My new car stereo's built-in AUX audio jack tempted me to bring my MD collections on the road. Based on great reviews, I chose MZ-RH1 and quite impressed. Besides its sound quality, buttons are intuitively laid out. Its large OLED is quite bright and easy to read during my night drives. Its nice handy remote is a great bonus. The only downside is its slow navigation. As I am more accustomed to--or spoiled by, in a sense--the fast responses of MP3 players, its db navigation seems to be a bit slow. Its PC software, SonicStage, also seems too complicated. But overall, I'm pretty much satisfied with this player and quite impressed.

oof_ow - (08/04/2007) This MD was purchased as a collector's item and also for it's recording capability. I use it to record chamber music, opera, concerts, and classroom lectures. The sound quality is excellent, I have used all sorts of headphones and earphones ranging from normal to audiophile and the RH-1 makes your headphone sound its very best. As for audio playback, it is very simple to use as long as you group your files beforehand when you import songs into your MD. Think of groups as folders, playlists, music genres, or chronological groups. A remote is necessary if you want to use the group feature. The buttons may be inconvenient to use at first, but after getting used to the player you will be able to operate it smoothly. Sony MDs have always been relatively inconvenient, but the RH-1 is different from all other MDs in that it includes a thumb dial, allowing you to use different fingers at once. The Playback/Stop button are well placed and well designed. The battery lasts a very long time on playback, although when recording the battery life curve dips significantly. I have used two previous MDs, a MZ-N910, and MZ-RH10. Although I have owned my MD for a long time, I record on average, once a month and listen only a few times every month. It has a cool visualization on the main display during music playback that is reminiscent of Apple's V-Pod: each bar, circle or wave moves according to the frequency range. The RH-1's design itself is like holding an elegant mini-VCR with anachronistic, or futuristic if you will, OLED displays. The provided remote control is just plain cool, and its only weakness is its bulkiness; this time Sony added a cylindrical magnetic brace on each end of the remote. It serves my uses well, so I am more than satisfied.
