16 ms - 1280 x 1024 - 16.7 Million Colors 24-bit - 250 Nit - DVI - VGA - Silver - MPN: LCD1735NXM
Strengths: NEC reputation, excellent image quality, ultra-slim profile, quick response time
Weakness: 1 year warranty (vs. the 3 years offered by almost every other mfg. on 17" LCDs); considering NEC's reputation for quality, however, I don't consider this a weakness as much as I do a curiosity.
The first thing that struck me before I had even unpacked this monitor was its ultra-slim profile, made obvious by the narrow depth of the box in which it is packaged. Once unpacked, setup was a breeze. The inputs are all conveniently located at the back of the base, thereby eliminating any potential hassle of messy, cumbersome cords getting in your way - a practical feature that is also in keeping with the sleek aesthetics and overall design of the monitor cabinet. And what a joy to work with.. the image quality is superb - bright, clear and vibrant - with nary a malfunctioning pixel in sight! All in all, I found the NEC LCD1735NXM to offer a multitude of features typical to NEC's higher-end "premium" monitors, except in this case, without the high-end "premium" pricetag. This is one purchasing decision with which I have no regrets and couldn't be more pleased... NEC RULES!

TopStrengths: Got DVI input, fast 16ms response time, easy cabling access
Weakness: Dead or stuck pixel
Great response time for gaming. A rare LCD that has an easy access to connectors for DVI, VGA and audio. Everything is an A+ until a stuck pixel is found and poking at you like an eyesore. You get used to it with time and if the scenes are changing while gaming, you hardly notice it.

TopStrengths: DVI, 16ms reponse time,
Weakness: speakers, one dead pixel
It took me several days to adapt myself to the SXGA monitor. It is bright and thin. It is good for game and video with the 16ms response time. The shape and the sensitive buttons are really cool. There is one dead pixel on my monitor, and the speakers are not good.

TopStrengths: Nice looking design, great picture, no dead pixel.
Weakness: none so far
It's still a bit pricy compared with other LCD monitors. However, the picture quality is quite superior. It might be better than the monitors in the same level. NEC with DVI, 16ms, and price less than $300 would be quite a good bargain.

TopStrengths: Wide view angle, DVI, quick response
Weakness: poor text quality and weak speaker
This monitor has a very wide view angle. Great for watching movies. The response time is very small for gaming. And it has the DVI interface.
But compared to my DELL 173fp, the text is not so comfortable. The orignal brightness is 100 which is too bright. The text has color fringing. Maybe it will be better to use DVI. The speaker is weak. Almost no use.

TopStrengths: great picture, dvi or analog connection, easily setup
Weakness: icon title flutter touchy setting controls
this is my second lcd monitor, i had to turn down the brightness and contrast.. great picture seems larger than 17"..came assembled (just unfold) easy plug n play and driver update with xp
I did notice my desktop icons flutter when i opened MS Word and other software with display settings 1280x768 or higher.. i backed down to 1152x864 and all is well
base of lcd has touch sensor setting controls that are a little sensitive
fyi i am using a radeon 9200se with 1 gig memory and athlon 2400+
UPDATE: I have had some challenges with the on/off button. While reaching to turn the monitor off, the other adjustment buttons are too sensitive and force mt to unplug and replug the monitor power cord to reset it and shut it off OR wait about 29 secinds

TopStrengths: Looks, Function, Peformance
Weakness: Controls a bit erratic.
This is an awesome LCD monitor that has all the bells & whistles, like Speakers, DVI & Analog inputs, etc. Picture quality is just great and its very sleek as well. Resolution is 1280x1024 (max for 17''). Its one of the best monitors out there. Overall i am very happy with it. Only complaint is that controls are a bit too sensitive, but once you set it they dont have to be fiddled with again.

TopStrengths: Very thin, looks thinner than other LCDs. Bright color and picture.
Weakness: none
I bought this NEC LCDs 1 week ago, and I am happy with it. It is super thin, seems to be thinner than other LCDs. It has bright color and picture.

TopStrengths: Fast response time; not so expensive
I only have had it for 3 weeks. I really love it. The fast response time and sharp display are amazing. Compared to my E172FP, this one is much better. With its DVI connection, I can now fully utilize the AGP card on my system. The price of this LCD is not so high. I'm happy using it every day.

TopStrengths: Great image using DVI input. Haven't noticed any ghosting or image artifacts.
Weakness: Silver is not my favorite color. Would have preferred a black option.
This is a great monitor for the price. 16ms response time makes it very good for gaming and the DVI input is not something you find typically in this price range. Nice and bright too.

TopStrengths: Sleek design, great price, DVI and analog
Weakness: No DVI cable included, awkward monitor controls, weak speakers
The NEC 1735NXM LCD monitor is my first LCD monitor, and I must say I am very impressed. I purchased it with many discounts, so the price was excellent. The image quality is great for playing games and watching movies, however the speakers are poor. Since no DVI cable is included, you can purchase a separate DVI cable and hook that up to your video card for better image. The controls are a little strange, there are no buttons, it is touch sensitive. The design is great, and will look great in any location. Overall, if you are upgrading from a bulky CRT monitor, this NEC monitor will not disapoint.

TopStrengths: Great design, appropriate size, can bend and move the LCD on many ways. Saves space and energy.
Weakness: Picture is not sharp and clear. A little fuzzy.
Great product overall. I would still prefer my CRT because I can set the refresh rate higher and it is much clearer than the LCD. The LCD saves a lot of space on the desk so you have plenty of space to work with. Paid a total of $165 after rebate plus taxes for mine.

TopStrengths: Sharp clear display and as a bonus the back is luminated and looks very cool.
Sharp clear display and as a bonus the back is luminated and looks very cool. This is great for the high tech look. I expect to see these in movies soon, nothing looks better than a nice blue glow in a darkened room.

TopStrengths: Great industrial design and visual quality.
Weakness: No DVI Adapter included in package.
This is a superb product. The device is smart and senses the user before the buttons on the base are even touched, that is unique. The mounting is stylish and much thinner than anything else available without sacrificing the ability to use standard mounting systems if that is required. The flicker free operation is soothing to the eyes and the speed can keep up with any of the most sophisticated games.

TopStrengths: good quality and response time
this is a cool LCD monitor. I like it very much right after I see it. It's work also makes me impressed. The color, the response time, the contrast, are all good. And I finally got my rebate back and it cost me only $170 dollars after rebate.

TopStrengths: great picture, fast response time
Weakness: poor speaker sound
I bought this monitor to replace an older CRT. I was worried about shadowing at first, however the 16ms response time has proven to compete with CRT's even when gamming. The display is very nice, sharp pictures and crisp letters makes it a ease to look at. Set up was a breeze with the plug and play, all cables are located at the back of the base. This allows you to set it up with out the eye-sore of cables at the back of your desk. Menu controls are a bit touchy, but once you get use to them they are fine.
BAD: built in speakers are bery weak. Poor sound quality. I would recommend using external speakers if you require sound. This was not a problem for me because I already had a good speaker system.

TopStrengths: Nice design, DVI, response time
Weakness: Controls can be tricky
This is a very nice LCD. The bezel is slim in design. It came with no dead pixels. The response time is good enough for games or movies. It has connections for both DVI and analog. There are built in speakers. The controls can be a bit touchy, but you dont have to use them too much after its setup. Very happy with the purchase.

TopStrengths: Stylish. Minimal ghosting. Bright, sharp display. DVI connectivity.
Weakness: Greyscale is a bit muddled, poor viewing angle
Appearance: This is one of the nicer LCD monitors I have seen, mainly due to the unique control scheme. Instead of having buttons or dials to change monitor settings, there are touch sensitive "buttons" on the base. The lack of real buttons gives the LCD a very uncluttered appearance which I really like. The blue LEDs integrated into the base and the backside of the monitor are a nice touch as well.
Functionality - This monitor has integrated speakers. They are pretty low quality, as one would expect from such small speaker. If you are using this LCD only for office type work, they will do the job.
Other than that, this monitor is pretty basic. It tilts forward and backward; it does not swivel at all.
Quality: Text quality is excellent; with cleartype enabled, it is as good as I've seen. Graphics quality is mostly good. There is very little ghosting due to the 16ms respose time. This monitor produces accurate whites and blacks; however, the greyscale is a bit muddled. I wouldn't recommend this monitor for serious photo editing.
The main image quality issue this monitor has is the poor viewing angle. I've used quite a few LCDs; this monitor has one of the worst viewing angles I've seen. You pretty much have to look at it head on if you want a clean image.
I wouldn't recommend this monitor if you want to watch DVDs, or perform some other task where you might not be sitting directly in front of it. For office tasks/gaming, it'll work fine.

Light-up membrane controls and a cylindrical speaker bar give this unit a clean, sleek appearance; tilt adjustment is stiff.

NEC MultiSync LCD1735NXM 17" LCD Monitor
Strengths: No dead pixel, Good design, DVI
Weakness: NA
Based my experience, it is a good LCD on this price level with the similar function. The control function is really cool. The quality of performance on photo and picture are fine. Operation and setup are really easy.
There is no DVI cable included. The speaker is not a strong part of this LCD. The default bright setting is too high.
