Posted Nov 26, 2006 - I haven't had any problems at all with this motherboard. It was very easy to setup (including setting up a SATA drive as the C: drive). It posted the very first time I tried, no tweaking necessary. Most of the PCI slots will go to waste if you are using a large ATI card, one which takes up two slots, as it will cover up another PCI slot. One PCI-E slot causes you to lose the PCI 1x slot. The other PCI-E slot causes you to lose a plain PCI slot. I think this is probably typical of PCI-E boards, but it still sucks. The cables on the external port connectors are pretty short, so it can be hard to get them wrapped around your video card and other PCI cards.

Still don't know

Posted Oct 5, 2006 - It reaks havok on any PSU I throw at it (Tacens smartpower 550 watt - dead, Thermaltake 650 watt toughpower - dead, Thermaltake 680 purepower - soon dead) . Even bought a seperate CD bay PSU from thermaltake for just the video cards ( 250 watt purepower Purepower express) in conjuntion with thethermaltake 650 toughpower)- 1 ATI 1900 crossfire edition and 1 ATI 1900 XT. Well, the thing is, I am still staring at more than 1000 dollars worth of video cards attached to this mobo sitting on the floor here, ,,, ,, ,, makes me sad.....

A8R32-MVP - Overclocker's Dream!

Posted Sep 9, 2006 - Anyone who doesn't think this board is worth the money isn't doing something right...usually the 'loose nut behind wheel' syndrome. This board has a myriad of options that aren't available on most other boards. I've only found one 'bug' - if you can really call it that - and that's the VCore Overvolt...if you give it +200mV, you'd think it's giving +.2V to the core, when in actuality, it's roughly .17V, but no big deal. I do (unlike alot of people out there) believe that ASUS' CPU Voltage control is a great addition, not allowing newbs to give their CPUs too much voltage, but allowing those 'in the know' to utilize the Overvolt option to get more juice to the CPU. I've found this board rock solid at *OVER* 1500MHz HT, and also overclocked to 400HTT without any problems. I finally settled at 2.85GHz on my older Clawhammer 4000+...this is on AIR with a Venus12 fan only, and produces 86*F (NOT C*!!) at idle and never been higher than 125*F under full load at this speed. (using manually configured CoolnQuiet with Rightmark CPU, etc.) Overall, this board is an Overclocker's DREAM, capable of many more things than alot of people want to realize. ASUS A8R32-MVP

Posted Aug 17, 2006 - In stalled into new case with brand new power supply. Did not know 24Pin was on the MB board. I purchased this in July and took 3 days to get this up and running only to see it fail again. I've yet to get back to it. When I put in the memory I had 2 PNY DDR 2700 512k for it brand new never used. No matter what I did they did not work.(according to PNY site they should) Had one 256K kingston that worked but took forever to install XP with that. Bought 2 1gig Kingston will add another review when they are put in. So far board is picky about memory. Have ATI AIW 800XL in unit for video. Had a hard time making the SATA drive C drive,gave up,put in IDE then SATA. Used machine 3 days now does not power on. Have a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe before, works great..thats what I'm still using now.

awesome board

Posted Aug 5, 2006 - I don't know what the problem is, this board is awesome. I'm running this setup: AMD Athlon X2 3800+ ATI Radeon X850XT 2x320GB Seagate 7200.10 (in a RAID 0...SO FAST...) 2GB PC 3200 DDR RAM with low latency timings and various other parts to run with MCE2005 Board is very stable, updated to latest BIOS, lots of user-available options for overclocking.

Great board

Posted Apr 21, 2006 - I have been running my setup for close to a week with no problems. I am even running the stock BIOS that everyone complains about. So i dont know what everyone else is doing wrong but my setup is working great. AMD X2 64 4400+ 2 gigs of dual channel Corsair ram WD 74 gig 10,000 RPM Raptor HDD ATI X1900 XTX 512 MB Zalman copper/aluminum heatsink arctic silver 5 thermal paste thermaltake 660W purepower supply thermaltke tsunami case with 3 cooling fans (2x 120 1x 90) no problems on this configuration. I cant say much about overclocking this system.... because there really is no point in doing so. I play all current games at full settings and max resolutions. (doom3, counter-strike:source, f.e.a.r, oblivion) At peak settings I still get about 100FPS so there is no need for overclock. So really i dont know what happened to the guy who posted before but I can tell you that the way im using the board (stock settings) gives no problems when playing games and has no instability issues.

Not ready for prime time unfortunately

Posted Apr 11, 2006 - What a disappointment Asus has shipped with both the A8R-MVP and A8R32-MVP mobos having long lists of documented defects. Asus seems to be on the skids in the past several years with problem mobos including Nvidia, Intel and now ATI chipset boards.
