TopLillard and Shaloub are great in this movie. I'd say the story is alright and the movie fufilled its potential about as well as could be expected. Fairly gory and has a few scares. The language is a bit much given it wasn't really necessary. A surprisingly good movie that I would recommend.

TopA pretty dumb movie.The ghosts look like halloween type of crap but yet,I enjoyed it somehow and its worthy of a 3.

TopI think this movie was just really interesting. kind of hard to understand and the images of the ghosts were actually scarier than the movie itself. As far as scariness goes, my 12 year old brother watched it and said it was wack, But I think that Monk,(Tony Shalhoub) was really great in such a different role than I'm used to seeing him in.

TopIt was alright. Kind of campy, but a good movie to sit and watch with your girlfriend or whatever. Also Shannon is the hottest woman alive! lol

TopSurprisingly, this was not the worst movie that I've ever seen. "Dude, where's my car" is definitely worse, and I remain a big fan of Shannon Elizabeth. The ghosts are kind of creepy and weird, and the idea of a satan constructed house machine that is powered by the energy of captured spirits is actually kind of creative. That being said, the movie is ridiculous, and the acting pretty bad. Watch it on cable if you have absolutely nothing else to do - you will probably find that 13 ghosts is not a horrible movie.

TopI found this movie to be quite interesting as it is born of unique concepts with regards to spooks. The only drawback is, well, people acting stupid only to get slashed by a goul.Isn't there a better formula for spook flicks?

Topi just caught this on dvd, and it's a lot like "the frighteners". aren't they both zemeckis? i don't know. decent effects, but not enough done with the true stars of the movie, the ghosts. who were they? what did they want? how long were they around? again, i don't know. some themes from 'hellraiser' appear here, like the union of mechanics and spiritual power to open the gate to hell. kinda like it was inspired by a trip to detroit, not so much a camping trip. i haven't seen a good ghost story in years. apparently, neither did the people in this film. otherwise, they'd know, if somebody leaves you a haunted house in their will, you DON'T F-ING ACCEPT IT! this movie will populate many dreary uhf sunday afternoons until the dead rise. the daughter is, btw in my opinion as a living guy, quite the fetching lass.

TopVery well made Halloween ghost story. Good production value and spectacular spooky effects and make-up. Very good performances from the two male leads, and another forgettable bit part for the incredibly untalented Shannon Elizabeth. Mathew Lillard does a great job as the money grubbing psychic who knows all there is to know about ghosts. He also drools all over the place. The guy who plays the father does an outstanding job for such shlop horror fair as 13 Ghosts and adds realism to an otherwise completley unbelievable and cartoon like film. The rest of the cast is so - so and don't seem too eager to display much acting ability. Maybe it is because their roles are paper thin and one deminsional? Naaaa. The ghosts steal the show however all with their own weird and interesting personae. They range from bodies in pieces, to bodybuilding inmates to completley naked fake boobed super models. A fairly good job at remaking a clever classic. Much better than Dark Castle's first project, House on Haunted Hill. This is two stars better than that. Dark Castle is a great production company dedicated to making horror like the old Hammer films. I hope they keep improving as they move forward. O.K. movie, worth a look. LOWELY RECOMMENDED! (Lowely?)
