Alice, Sweet Alice

This movie is also known as 'communion' I believe and is effective I thought,it was creepy,70's style suspense/horror movie,I've just watched it a few months ago,and after all I heard about it I felt a little let down.parts where scary.but those where few and far between. I think the last scene was the best..

Alice, Sweet Alice

Not sure if this would qualify as a "Slasher" film or not. I saw this a long time ago and can't remember how many characters ended up getting killed. It's an interesting little oddity of a picture with some flashes of originality. For me, the primary reason to see it was that they filmed the bulk of it in Paterson, NJ, which is the area I grew up around. Brooke Shields makes a brief appearance, although she's quickly killed off. By no means a great, or even a really good, movie, but not a total waste of time either, unlike the majority of slasher-type flicks, which invariably feature a string of horny teenagers being sliced-and-diced by a faceless and/or masked maniac. Those type of movies elicit nothing but a big yawn from me. This isn't that type of picture. Obviously, that's not a ringing endorsement, but you could do worse...

Alice, Sweet Alice

One of Brooke Sheilds first films, This is definetly intriguing. The scenery gives a creepy atmosphere, The characters are well-developed, and you actually wonder who really killed Alice.

Alice, Sweet Alice

I truely did enjoy this very original and darkly disturbing horror film. I would catagorize this fil as more of a mystery than actual horror. I found it above the standards of most horror films in that it relise alot on the atmosphere and the mood of the cinematography rather than sheer teen gutting. Actually, this film is pretty much refreshingly teen free! This was made back when horror and suspence was still aimed at a mature and thoughtful audience. I wish I was alive to have witnessed the glory days. Alice,Sweet Alice holds tight to its vision and mastery of suspence. A true gem of 70's horror suspence. Truelly chilling.

Alice, Sweet Alice

Alice is a twisted 12 year old violently jealous of her younger sister(Brooke Shields)in this absorbing, atmospheric slasher movie. The setting is late 50s New Jersey. The creepiness of things is captured lovingly in small details and great location photography, in an almost Coen Bros tone. and a monstrous landlord(you will never forget this character once you see him in his antique-stuffed apartment surrounded by kittens, eating out of catfood cans, looking like a 500 pound John Turturro.)50s New Jersey Catholic environment is creepily and smartly evoked. Paula E. Sheppard is perfect as the nasty Alice. The way she sticks her tongue out to receive communion is great! Gore is slight, with only 3 stalk-and-stab scenes. A lot of gushing blood in the finale, though. You could call this a "classic" of its type, since it is far above average in the 70s maniac slasher category. If ya smelllll what the Shape, is roasting!!!
