Topit's a good movie and with out it we wouldn' t have acumatata !! I have seen the version that says sex in the clouds too but you really have to look for it and I feel the people that made a scene about it have no life and just wanted to cause a problem....it wasn't a kid who noticed !!!!

TopThe Lion King is a nice looking film with all of the time tested Disney elements, a put-upon main character suffering parental loss who is lifted to triumph by his plucky spirit and a colourful cast of side characters. But at its core the film is a pretty grim and graphic presentation of moral decay, corruption and blood lust motivated revenge. And the violence is best part for the kids to enjoy. After years of listening to people gripe about Bambi being too sad for little kids because Bambi looses his mother, I was shocked at the comparative insensitivity in the death scene of Simba's father. The children get to watch in extreme close-up as Mustafah is trampled by the stampede that was intentionally started by his brother. Then for added emotional effect Simba comes and lifts his father's lifeless paw and drops it in the dust while being addled with guilt by his uncle for being responsible for his father's death. Then we bound off to the jungle for the joyous comic relief of the playful warthog and meerkat. The guilt finally turns to rage and Simba goes back to slaughter a bunch hyenas and throw his uncle off a cliff, all to the tune of Hakuna Mitata.

TopDespite the suspicious similiarities between Disney's The Lion King and the Japanese Kimba The White Lion that had preceded it (though, let's face it, the story's been done about a hundred times before that anyway), I still have to say this is probably one of Disney's last "good" feature films that might be considered a classic. It had the memorable characters that had the occasional one-liner, but they didn't try to overrun the movie with it. The animation was good (later Disney movies tended to be a little more linear and angular in their animation style). Overall, good story.

With all the laughter you need to watch the movie over and over just to catch it all and especially with the comedy stand inn’s the hyenas it is a perfect hilarious film. it also has death and problems that actually happen. all up its perfect.

TopCompared to the comic genius of "The Emperor's New Groove" and "The Incredibles" or the amazingly dramatic shows in the DC Animated Universe on the small screen, "The Lion King" is simply a mediocre movie overall. Sure, "I Just Can't Wait to be a King" is a song many of us can relate too, and even "Hakuna Matata" wasn't bad--but aside from Timon & Poomba, the characters were simply dull. The plot wasn't amazingly creative, and the animation didn't scream imaginative right off the bat. Not horrible, but not awesome by any means.

TopWhat really bugs me are people (especially Christians!) who put down Hollywood movies and other entertainment as being morally wrong aand violent, yet hold Disney up as a moral guidepost for the rest of the industry. Yet, here we have a movie about one jelous brother killing his sibling and chasing away his competition, who eventually comes back and extracts revenge. Really sweet, feel good movie, isn't it?

TopThe Greatest Children Movie of all time. The two reason this movie is really spetacular is because of the music and Timon And Pumbaa. The Music is great because it's really catchy and the people singing it have great voices. My Favorites are Be Prepared and Hakuna Matata. As for Timon And Pumbaa they are the funniest Disney Charcters ever. Who couldn't love a hip meerkat and a farting warthog.LOL. Plus with amazing voice actors(my favorite being Jeromy Irons)amazing animation and a well written epic story based on Hamlet how can you not like this movie? TWO HUGE THUMBS UP!!!!

TopIt is one of Disney's most meaningful animated films. The writing, storyline, was excellent. The music was spectacular, it plays so much background music throughout the movie. The message for its viewers was great; the characters blend in well with the plot. It's a good movie for adults and kids.

TopIt amazes me how people love some of the crap modern Disney makes. Most of it is nonsense yet many kids and parents alike see the name Disney and automatically see "masterpiece". This movie was boring in almost every way for me. Fortunately my kids never liked this movie and I do not have to endure it repeatedly.

TopGREAT MOVIE! Its teaches kids so many different lessons in life. It is the best disney animated movie I've ever seen- better than beauty and the beast, better than cinderella! It has great songs that the characters in the movie sing, and i actually enjoy listening to them! most disney movies that have those songs hurt my ears...but i LOVE the lion king! I also ENCOURAGE you to see the Lion King play- on broadway, its beautiful! it was worth every penny.

TopDefinately one of the best movies ever released by Disney. As a kid, I saw this film and honestly cried when Mufasa died. Jeremy Irons' voicing of the character Scar made for the best bad guy I've ever seen in a Disney movie. The story really had meaning and teaches children several lessons in a language that they can understand.

TopThe Lion King is my favorite animated Disney film. It has great storylines, good writing, good music, powerful messages for its viewers. The characters blend well with the plot. I like the fact that it covers the life cycle really well: "antelopes eat grass, antelopes are eaten by lions, when lions perish they before grass, which antelopes eat." WOW, that a breath of fresh air. This movie is truly a classic for generation to come. May it never be forgotten!

TopAs well as this movie is made, I have to give it a poor rating for being racist. At first glance we see a kingdom of good versus an empire of evil, but at closer inspection there is a white suburban elitist theme here, with the good characters sounding a bit like the Beaver and the villains voiced with inner city black dialect. I despise any kind of political correctness, but this is one film that is just too obvious with its subtext.

TopI have to admit, I was a little disappointed by this one. Normally, I'm right on the Disney bandwagon (Eisner notwithstanding), but I just couldn't get into this one. It didn't have that classic Disney feel to it.

TopWow! Beautifiul. Fun for the whole family. Climactic, brilliant, amazing. My favorite childs film. A real beaut. An absolute must-see. I could go on for hours about how absolutely marvellous this film is, but I won't bother. TopWell before I donned my first pair of Mouse Club ears, I considered myself a life-long fan of Empire Disney. That sincere devotion included everything from Disneyland to my Mickey Mouse watch. Yet, for a very long span of years, I had all but given up on ever being truly entertained by one of their feature length cartoons. While I felt the Disney creative geniuses never really lost their edge or ability to produce high quality, state of the art animated films, for awhile that was all they really had - the form without the substance. Then came "The Lion King" and I had to completely re-evaluate my position. I know there were some critically acclaimed films preceding this one by a few years, but not since the days before the death of Walt Disney (1966) had I seen it all come together in such a winning combination of beautiful music, classic compelling story, drama and humor. The selection of voices for the animal characters was also excellent and Jeremy Irons in particular was a standout as the embittered, evil Scar. I still crack up when I think of his droll delivery of the line "You have nooo idea!" I was not in the least surprised when I heard it had been turned into a successful live musical as well. "The Lion King" is an excellent addition to either adult or children's video collection.

TopThis is a very good Disney film and this is one of my favorite disney movies made. Simba's father died and he thought it was his fault. so he ran away. the area gets taken over. Simba makes friends with Timon and Pumba. When he grows up, he finds ot his area is being taken over and must go back and save it.

TopThis movie is absolutely beautiful. If you are choosing a movie to teach your children about life and still protect their delicate emotions, this is the one you're looking for. It allows them to feel the devastation of being very small in an enormous world, yet shows them that assuming their small part of responsibility can shape the lives of many. The past can hurt, the right road isn't always the easy one, and the world marches on no matter what is going on in their own little lives. This is an excellent movie artistically, as well. It is shockingly authentic, right down to the savanna plant life and the Swahili lyrics. Add a little culture to the life of your child. It can't hurt, in fact, it helps immensely.
