i got this with my christmas money and it was one of my best buys ever. it carries music photos slideshow calender to do list and notes. it now includes a scratch proof case.

TopStrengths: Small size, color screen, aluminum casing, great sound, great options availible on the player I.E. Slideshows, and music options.
Weakness: Doesn't do to well with laptops, mine seems to shutdown automatically when my iPod is hooked up to long.
Its great, especially if you have a desktop, i have both a desktop and a laptop, so i dont mind it being to powerful for the laptop, the size goes well, can't tell when i have it in my pocket, the color screen is great as well, i can see it in the dark! Very "high speed", slide your finger on the wheel to adust volume and to scroll. I've been waiting for a digital music player that makes sense, and if you have to then this is the one!

black color looks awesome compared to white. also to keep it from getting scratched i recommend keeping the plastic covering on the player and put holes for headphone jack and the usb connector on it. it will keep it safe from scratches until u can get a skin for it.

TopStrengths: Great Sound; great size; great screen
Weakness: Scratches easily; and doesn't get anywhere near 14 hours of battery for the first month of use. But battery life gets better.
If you want your iPod nano to look like it does in the picture don't take off the protective stickers. It can literally be scratched by looking at it.

TopStrengths: Compact, durable, easy to use. Even installation was a piece of cake.
Weakness: The BATTERY LIFE IS HORRIBLE!!! And what's with the headphone Jack being on the bottom??
One of the greatest Christmas gifts I've ever gotten. My wife seems to think tha i'm going to lose it because its so small but because of its size, it allows me to feel unrestricted unlike carrying around a CD player. Well worth the $$$.

TopStrengths: Size, color screen, charge time.
Weakness: Battery life.
Although the battery life is not superb, it makes up for it with it's size and how fast it is to charge. The traditional IPOD interface is as good as ever. The color screen is great and allows you to store photos and do slideshows with music. There is even some games in color which is a plus. The coolness factor is definitely there. Just can't get over how small it is and how much it can do.

that thing is great. so small and compact i can keep virtually anywhere and i won't get in the way. and it's just palin fantastic to beable to carry all my favorite music around with me with out the hassle of lugging around a bunch a cd's.

TopStrengths: incredibly small size, and really light. Includes great software, and pocketable.
Weakness: Scratches the minute you take off seal. Non replaceable battery
They finally released the right player. Of course, a thing of beauty shouldn't go unprotected, so I'd recommend that you buy a case for this immediately after you purchase it. Other than the size of the memory, it's perfect!

TopStrengths: nice look, colour screen, syncable with outlook(KEY!!)Easy to use and 2 gigs is more than enough space..who listens to 1000 songs a day? Itunes on your pc already has all your songs waiting for you!
Weakness: finger prints, and scratches easily. I read reviews on how it's easy to scratch and yet I still managed to scrath up mine...case is necessary for protection but this takes away from the look.
All in all this is my first mac purchase and I must say this product did impress me. Easy to use, and ample space to store a lot of info. Can sync with outlook, store contacts, photo's all in one!! Having playlists is handy so that you can divide songs accordingly for example songs for when you do a work out etc. Don't believe all the haters that knock this item...if you take care of it, it will work flawlessly for you!!

Topthe reason that they give you 1000 songs is that you only get about 985 depending on how long the songs are. I hope you know that a 2gb will only hold 490 songs.
Strengths: Size is very small and very each to carry. You can bring it to anywhere just put to your pocket.
Weakness: The surface, back and screen are very easy to get scratched. The battery life is very short compare to what apple said.
Ipod nano is very cool(Black). It's very easy for people to bring to anywhere. However, the user must get the case for the nano because it's very easy to get scratched. That's not the only problem which NANO has. I used nano for a week, then the battery life became very short after I charged few times. At beginning, it was last for 8-10 hours but now, even I charged it to full battery, it only last for 4-6 hours. Apple must fix this problem.

This is the best Ipod yet. colour screen, 500 songs and as thin as the width of your pencil. i have yet to find any problems with this Ipod. I would definetly buy the Ipod nano again especially in black. Its just a great deal.

Weakness: easy to scrach, no come with "real" battery charger. Need to plug out ear plug when you need to take of usb charger. Can not listen when it is charging
It likes all apple-style stuff. I like it. But for the price, it is too high. And it is very easy to scratch (in second day, I found several scrachs, highly recommend to buy a cover when you get it). When charging it by usb cable, you can not listen the music (I am not sure it is right or not, but for me, until now I still can not figure out how I can listen music when it is charging). When you want to plug out the usb charger, you need to plug ear plug first (because they are very close together).
Not very satisfied with it.

Strengths: Price Competitiveness, one of the best deals for combining Music and Color/Photo capabilities. Sound Quality is great for being so small. Gloss finish matched with Aluminum case looks great.
Weakness: Dial click is bit small to work. Color display is not as crisp as hoped for.
Other than a couple of minor items, the new Nano is awesome!
This is my first iPod because I've been holding out for something better, but I believe I've just picked a winner.
Way to go Apple!

The nano is a nice slim color ipod but with its $200+ price tag you are really paying for the ipod name. There are many other players that are cheaper and hold far more than 2gig of songs. If your an ipod junkie then this is for you. If you have no apple loyalty review other players for more value for your buck. But overall, not a bad quality player for what it is

i bought the open box one. I thought it was a never opend one but once I opend the package, there was no stickes attached on Nano, no case, and found some scratches on CD.

TopStrengths: some strenths like it's amazing size which is incredible but and it's colour screen with it's style.

O.K. it's an amazing peice of art and will probably get you a bit of attention but at such a price and make you would exspect not to have any complaints but already there ARE!!!
The big complaint is that the casing gets sctatched very easily and and the screen can get cracked too. Now at such a price is it worth taking the risk or having to cover it with a case when you want to show it of.
Now don't just see this as a maybe because I ahve checked the internet (you should)and there is alot of this happenings in such a short time of release.
If I was you I would just go for the rio carbon mp3 player player cos it's got style, size and quality. It's only £100 in large retail shops yet still gives you quality (and 5gb which is amazing)and has had hardly any complaints either (check it on this website).
I'v put a review on it too and I definatly think you should buy it cos you will have a giant grin on your face for months. DON'T buy the ipod mini or nano cos you are 85% certain to regret now that oyu have heared about the rio.
DO THE RIGHT THING NOT WHAT IPOD DID-A BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!

TopYea i didnt like the nano i got rid of it, it scratched to friggin easily, i went with the zen micro photo after that, its a better portable player than the ipod nano anyways, and the nano name is from creative.
Strengths: It can play photos, music,games...
Weakness: It cant play video clips or even videos
It was my perfect birthday present!! It plays photos, music, games ,etc. But the only problem is that it scratches easy (so i recommend buying a case right away) and it cannot play videos or video clips. But it is still AWESOME!!!

I love the Nano. I've carried around a CD/walkman for years while walking, traveling and working out and this is by far much more convenient. I love the sound quality! Great for music not to skip while walking/working out. So small I can place in pocket. While the surface is easily srcratchable (sales rep warned me in advance), I invested in a leather nano-shaped case ($20.00) and it stays protected. Case comes w/ snap-on hook to be attached to belt or belt loop - very convenient. I love my Nano - I have two kids who want to use it and I don't let them - this is MY toy. I highly recommend getting the extra warranty from whomever you buy yours from - it will be worth it for extra protection.

Weakness: The keys are not Soft switches/keys. Need to improve the keys.
Would reccomend this if anyone wants portable good music player. Its quality of sound is good. Its a better piece over other MP3/4 players. But the seller needs to improve the MP4 player's keys with softkeys.

Weakness: battery really sucks; scratches
We all bought Nano for its goods and we all know its bads even before we bought it. The battery really sucks, even after a full charge, it goes red at the end of the day. I haven't done the maths but I'm sure it won't last any longer than 5 hours. And I just had it for about 2 months!! Mine's (2G BLK) a parallel imported one so I assume the warranty's not a happy issue. People say Apple will cover battery replacement as long as it's in warranty but I don't expect that for mine. At the time of writing, you can get a parallel imported 2GB with 1 year seller's warranty which covers only manufacturing faults for NZ$330 (US$210). Other shops are selling it for around NZ$380 (now $350), but then you get 1 year warranty from Apple NZ, rather than the shop who sold you your Nano.
NZ's really a countryside, every single thing that has something to do with the word "electr-" is way too expensive. And you don't even have much choice to make since there are only 5 shops selling 10 brands in the whole country, literally.
Anyway, we buy Nano even if we know its faults. It's the most beautiful, tiniest, coolest! Who cares about its so-called faults? New Zealand sucks, but Nano rocks!

Strengths: large arsenal of functions, perfectly erganomic, well layed out menu options, apearance, extremely portable, sound quality, build quality, presentation, size.
Weakness: too good to touch without a skin/case (finger prints), screen colour/resolution needs updating, inoperable when connected to itunes.
wow, what an impressive device, even with the speed of technology changing all the time these days, perfect for a first buy mp3 player. my mobile phones screen is crisper & higher res than this ipods & it shows when viewing photos, apart from that the screen is impressive and faultless.
yet to figure out how to get music playing with a slideshow. really cant fault it at all.
they really did think of everything when they made this, includes screen lock, stop watch with lap details, notes, calendar, contacts, games, multi timezone clock + more.
cant decide whether to buy one or leave it? neither could i, my suggestion, buy it, definitely worth it at the moment.
