Strengths:

Physical size, Capacity, Looks, User replaceable Battery, price definitely worth mentioning.

Weaknesses:

The display has too much details, old eyes like mine wished they were little larger(perhaps 8 pt). User guide, software is buggy, annoying registration reminders.

Posted Oct 3, 2004 - I have owned a previous version of the same product - this one is vastly improved compared to the older product. I use a quality headphone instead of the supplied earplugs -as a result the sound appears to be very pleasant. Amplitude, tonal qualities and channel sperations are goodare good. Excellent battery life, at least 12 hours of continuous playing and 1/2 volume. The controls, push buttons and the toggles feel very good to the touch. The scroll button has an uncomfortable feeling. Overall I am very pleased with this unit.

Strengths:

PRO: USB 2.0/1.1 compatible;Great sound quality; Greater capacity than other MP3 players similarly priced; (Rechargable)Removable battery- unlike iPod;Large programable blue backlit display

Weaknesses:

CON: Earbuds suck - - buy real earphones for quality sound;Jog dial is sometimes difficult to use;Carrying case covers the LCD display;Player Cover available in 1 color: aluminum

Posted Feb 28, 2004 - A great buy with only a few drawbacks. I would not recommend for a novice computer user due to software quirks. For a medium to expert user, software issues are minor annoyances. The player also comes pre-loaded with many classical song selections and features EAX Audio presets with a graphic equalizer and time scaling to slow/speed playback without changing octaves. The charged battery time is approx. 14 hours. However, the full version of software was not available until I registered the product. Still, a better value than most players.

Strengths:

The sound is incredible. It makes almost any speaker sound fabulous. It is very easy to load music, play and take everywhere.

Weaknesses:

I wish it was just a little lighter and smaller. But for the price it is amazing and the machine is just incredible. You will not regrete buying one or maybe even more! I am very happy.

Posted Jan 24, 2005 - This Nomad was a gift to me and it is absolutely fabulous. It is extremely user freindly. It is easy to load and play music. It has many different options to classify your music, but it is not to much information to confuse you. This is my first type of MP3 player and I am completely blown away. The sound is fabulous. It is just great that such a small object can create such fabulous sound. I am extremely happy that I have this machine in my life.

Strengths:

Tons of memory. Enough to hold my entire music collection.

Weaknesses:

Not enough options for the vehicle like I-Pod has.

Posted Mar 3, 2005 - I purchased this as a back up solution for my music collection, but I have taken it everywhere. I like the ability to have any song available to listen to whenever, wherever. I hate listening to the radio (can't stand the commercials, plus the lack of good music) so this has been a nice alternative. The random play is cool, you can skip through different songs from different artists - mix it up some. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who wants a high quality mp3 player. The price is right! Great product!!!

4 Star Review Creative Zen Xtra 60gig

Strengths:

huge space (60gb), quality sound, can play music by genre/artist/album, all at a price you can't beat.

Weaknesses:

slightly heavy and big, controls take a while of getting use to, potential problems (see below).

Posted Jul 8, 2005 - so far, no problems such as bad headphon jack, harddrive failure, or the front cover popping off, as other users have mentioned. even if the player does break down somehow after the warranty period, there are sites that give you step by step instructions on how to fix/enhance your player. so i'm not too worried =)

4 Star ReviewFirst off, size is not an issue with this thing. ...

Strengths:

Storage, software, sound quality

Weaknesses:

buttons take some getting used to

Posted May 8, 2005 - First off, size is not an issue with this thing. I read all the reviews saying it's "huge". Not the case. Maybe compared to other players, but it's roughly the size of a wallet. Personally, i wouldn't want anything smaller. It just feels like a well built, well designed player. Sound quality is amazing, eax features and kinda odd and not really of any practical use (and drain the battery), battery life is decent, about 10 hours, software is perfect. Nomad explorer loads quickly, and it's drag and drop from there. Open it and your music folder, transfer at lightning speed (about 5-10 seconds/disc encoded at 192kbs. All in all, i couldn't have asked for a better DAP. Only downside is sometimes the buttons need to be held for half a second to be recognized. Not a big deal, but was expecting instant response. I guess you can't have everything. Highly Recommended

Strengths:

very good sound easy to find your song and to pick what you want

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Jan 16, 2005 - very clear sound, a great alternative to the ipod for a much better price - its worth it. The headphones are a little bulky they could be better. Uploading from the computer is a breeze. I like the feature that you can change the speed to make it faster and still the sound is the same.

4 Star Review Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB MP3 Player

Strengths:

Massive storage space. Cord or USB chargeable, removeable battery.

Weaknesses:

Size and weight. No stop button.

Posted Jul 13, 2005 - The Jukebox is a striaght up MP3 player with no other frills. Right out of the box it is intuitive to set up and easy to use. The only negative is it's size. The Jukebox is amongst the largest of all players out there and you can forget about using it in the gym or running with it if you plan to clip it to your body. It's just too cumbersome. But that aside, the player is great for storing mass amounts of data - music or otherwise, and is ideal for travel, the office, or even hooking it up to your home (or a friend's)stereo system via an adapter cable. Considering storage space to price - it can't be beat. I have found that purchasing a second, smaller player such as the Creative Zen Micro, the two players together are still cheaper than the iPod, and have WAY more features. The Zen Micro has an FM tuner, line in recording (great), is tiny and still holds up to 1GB. But that's another review.

5 Star ReviewOverall this is one of the best MP3 audio players ...

Strengths:

Great capacity, can use either MP3 or WMA, plus it can store PC data files. Light weight, can fit easily in pocket.

Weaknesses:

Locks up occasionaly when turned on. Has no stop button. Case has no see-through window.

Posted Jul 28, 2004 - Overall this is one of the best MP3 audio players I have ever owned. It is very versatile. You can store MP3, WMA, or PC data files on it. It fits easily in the pocket without it being too cubersome. I would recommend this player to everyone. There are only two things that I would complain about and that is that every once in a while when the player is turned on it locks up. It takes several attempts of removing the battery to get it to unlock. And the last thing is that the carrying case does not have a window on the front cover so that the audio device's screen can be seen, meaning that you have to unhook the front cover so you can look at the screen as you utilize the player.

4 Star ReviewI love my zen extra 30gigs..30 gigs is about 6000 ...

Strengths:

Great Sound!!!....Lots of storage for any kind of data....Nice and solid(no cheap plastic)...transfers music fast(I timed at about less than 2 seconds for 1 song....fun to use..

Weaknesses:

battery life about 2-3 hours (not 10-12 as they advertise)...On/Off button difficult to press...Locks up at times.

Posted Jun 16, 2004 - I love my zen extra 30gigs..30 gigs is about 6000 songs or any data you need to store...First of all, BUY BETTER EARBUDS...The ones it came with suck...Once you learn how to work it, you will like it...I went ahead a bought a spare battery $70, cause the life is about 2 hours at best!...I did not get the Mac Ipod because the battery is internal and if it dies, you have to take the whole unit in to fix. Another item I bought from the Creative site was a car power adapter so it can charge as I drive.....Now one drawback is that it locks up..It just stops responding and the only remedy is the reset button which you need a paperclip or pin. A pen will not work, too fat...I just taped a piece of paperclip to the back of the unit so I always have a fixer....It locks up about every 30-40 songs...I really think this is normal tho....All the buttons are placed well and sturdy EXCEPT the on/off button...You have to hold it for about three seconds to "shutdown"...It is depressed so you can't easily tell if you are pushing hard enough to shut it off..Just a little pet pieve...Overall it is built VERY well. When you hold it, you can tell it is solid...Once you learn the other buttons, they are great... INVEST $30 or so in earbuds....You will be glad you did...I listen to songs that I have heard for years and NEVER heard them so crisp and with good channel seperation...Overall specs are good..Don't froget to go to their site and download and istall the updated firmware...In conclusion I spent, 200 + 40 for warrenty, 70 battery, 35 earbuds, 45 car adapter= $ 390....WORTH EVERY PENNY....

Strengths:

Large Screen,Large storage,Sounds good.Multi user settings saving. Came with a case.

Weaknesses:

Scroll wheel a bit sensitive,no stop button just pause

Posted Jun 23, 2004 - Great player overall. Minor nusenses but can deal with them. Can't beat the price for amount of storage. I bought this player so that I can store all my CD's on it and connect it up to my car stero with optional Kit. Better then dealing with a lot of CD's and possibly scraching them.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

Protective case covers the screen blocking the view. The input button is harder to use than it should be.

Posted Jan 4, 2005 - Overall, I would buy this MP3 player again. The main complaint that I have is that the case covers the screen so that you have to open it everytime you want to change the settings or the song.

Strengths:

Large capacity for downloads, larger screen to read

Weaknesses:

I don't like the blue backgound it is hard for me to read

Posted Nov 27, 2004 - I still have the 20gb Zen and gave it to my wife to use. I needed a larger capacity for all the music that I have and find that this will more than adequate. The only problem that I had with the unit was the ear buds were sent. I somehow managed to break one of the wires the first day. They were poorly made and I purchased a pair os Sony. I would highly recommend this unit to any one interested in a high capacity MP-3.

Strengths:

Great Storage and playback

Weaknesses:

Battery life as compared to previous Creative Players also does not allow for recording as previous player did.

Posted Jan 21, 2004 - I have a Nomad 3 that records but the storage capacity was 2/3rd's this one. Wish there was room for one more battery. You couple this player with a good set of headphones and you have you own concert hall anywhere you go. - I had a problem using a 1.1 USB port with it but upgraded my computer to 2.0 USB and problem was fixed. This sounds like a big change but it was $8.00 for the 2.0 card. I can live with that as it's now a fast interface.
