5 Star Review iPod Nano 8GB Rocks My World!

Strengths:

Thinner than 1st gen, more scratch resistant, twice the storage capacity, long battery life!

Weaknesses:

Still does not play video.

Posted Oct 16, 2006 - I just upgraded from a 1st gen 4GB Nano to this new 8GB model, and I love it! It is thinner than the old one, has twice the storage capacity, and longer battery life. I still wish it played video - yeah, the screen is kind of small for video, but come on...is it that hard to enable video for consumers like me? :) I thought about getting the 80GB Video, but it was big and bulky. In the end, I chose SMALL over VIDEO.

4 Star Review The one to get

Strengths:

Size/shape/weight, reasonable battery life (if set to minimal battery use, gap-less playback

Weaknesses:

finger prints/delicacy of paint on metal. click wheel sensitivity takes some getting use to.

Posted Oct 27, 2006 - This is the first iPod product I have owned and the only reason I bought it was for it's flash-based 8gb capacity and size. It's highly mobile and while I have issues with some quirks in the software (iTunes in general, and the inability to rank podcasts on the iPod or have notes beyond a certain character limit), I think it's the best buy for any music lover. If you want to view videos (not available on the nano) or view photos, I wouldn't recommend this or the iPod Video. There are better multi-media players out there not made by Apple. Also I'd purchase protection for your nano. It isn't as scratch-prone as the first generation nano, but the paint job can chip or rub away after continuous use. A scratch resistant shield is the best way to go without adding bulk.

5 Star Review iPod nano 8GB

Strengths:

Small, easy to use, great battery life

Weaknesses:

No iTunes CD included

Posted Nov 5, 2006 - Its super small and super easy to use. No complicated menus to go through to get your music. The battery life is terrific, I can go through a whole day without recharging it. I had to download iTunes from the website since it doesn't come with the CD. This is the best nano so far!!

5 Star Review Cool gadget

Strengths:

Coolness factor, great music quality, small design, excellent battery

Weaknesses:

None really. Doesn't play movies like it's bigger brother.

Posted Oct 4, 2006 - Love the second generation Nano. Great for on the move, and now with enough memory to keep a decent subset of your music collection on it. Much better scratch protection, although I do wish Apple would work better with case suppliers so you don't have to wait 4 to 6 weeks while they catch up....

5 Star Review Awesome form factor!

Strengths:

Small; scratch resistant; bright screen; good battery life

Weaknesses:

No video playback; missing power adapter; missing software

Posted Oct 17, 2006 - I have been an apple iPod user since they first came out with a PC compatible product. I've usually opted for the larger capacity units, as I have a huge MP3 library from my 2000+ ripped CDs. However, I got a shuffle last year as a gift, and while leary at first, found that I really enjoyed it! While there was not screen, this was not an issue while working out with it. I would just as soon let it shuffle thru a variety of songs. But I would like larger capacity, because I don't always bother reloading the player with fresh music. A since I use 220kbps VBR to rip my music, the files are larger, which means less songs can fit on the iPod shuffle. I thought about the nano when it first came out, but thought it was too fragile and scratchable, especially if I took it with me jogging and threw it into my bag. Now that this 8GB unit came out, with a scratch resistant exterior, I was quite happy, so pulled the trigger! I have had it for about two weeks now, and am quite happy. I like the "feel" of the nano 2G in your hands! It's nice to hold onto and flip thru tunes. I only put music on it, as well as PodCasts. The display is helpful and bright, but not all that important to me. Evidently you cannot play video on it, but ho-hum to me. Album art looks fine on the screen. I have jogged with it on many occasions, holding it in my hand, as I don't have a case for it yet. No issues at all. Have not even re-charged it yet! My only knock is that there is no AC charger included. Seems to be the trend these days. They want you to charge via your computer's USB port or buy a separate charger. Good thing there are cheap third-party chargers. They don't include the iTunes software, which is not a big deal to me, but could be to someone who only has a dial-up connection and has to download the large file!! I really like the latest version of iTunes! The album artwork is downloaded automatically for most of my albums, and it's a breeze to sort thru the library. In summary, I would certainly buy this again, had I the option. I do wish they would offer all color options, regardless of capacity. Would have opted for the silver or the new red one. I'm getting one as a gift for my wife, and I do know that black would not be her first choice.

4 Star Review iPod Nano 8gb

Strengths:

ease of use, size, storage capability, and availability of accessories

Weaknesses:

cost of unit and accessories, no FM radio, no user-replaceable battery

Posted Nov 6, 2006 - The Nano is the best choice if you are just interested in music, not video. It's so small and light you can take it everywhere. Also, iPod is so ubiquitous that everything is 'iPod' compatible (accessories, car stereos, internet audio, podcasts, etc)...

5 Star ReviewThe new apple 2nd generation ipod nano is easily t ...

Strengths:

Aluminum Case, cool, thin, color screen, battery life, search function, music quality, pictures, itunes compatability, flash player (high capacity), accessories, brighter screen and well known.

Weaknesses:

FM tuner, cases (no good ones), doesn't play new games, and extras cost too much.

Posted Oct 10, 2006 - The new apple 2nd generation ipod nano is easily the best flash player out. The differences between the 1st and 2nd generation nanos are (in order of importance) around a 24 hour battery life, higher capacities, aluminum casing, and more colors. I would love for there to be a choice of colors for the 8 gb but it is a great flash players. Apple has got the idea that people love sexy players but I wouldn't mind if the nano was little thicker for a fm radio. For bezboruah, their battery life is based on when the ipod is idle. Cnet says that it can last around 26 hours, more than apple said it would.

5 Star Review Much improved over the 1st generation nano

Strengths:

Aluminum Case (meaning less-prone to scratching), Very small to fit in a pocket, improved iPod interface w/ search function, battery life does seem long.

Weaknesses:

Didn't notice the screen to be any brighter as Apple says, doesn't play any of the new iTunes games, still has no FM radio (requires the extra remote), headphone jack on bottom, 8gb only in black.

Posted Sep 16, 2006 - Apple has done a spendid job in taking the old iPod mini's aluminum case and putting it on the nano instead. I would really say that this new nano is more like a shrunken ipod mini, except with a bottom headphone jack (which I personally don't like). With the aluminum case, this nano is less-prone to scratches compared to the 1st-gen nano and the video ipod. I got my nano today and I've already played about 4 hours of music with the battery gauge now at I'd say 80%. So the battery should be impressive, probably not the 24 hrs that Apple says but still decent. The interface now allows you the search for your music instantaneously, just like you can in iTunes. However, I wish Apple had put a built-in FM tuner instead of making us buy the little remote. I also was disappointed to see the 8gb come only in black; I really wanted a blue nano, but I also don't want 4gb. The black does still look pretty cool, I will admit that. Overall, I think this is the best non-video iPod to date. Apple definitely should be able to sell thousands of this model (I would say even more if there was a better color selection). As of today (only 2 days after the release), many of the 1st-gen ipod nano accessories are compatible with the 2nd-gen nano, but because Apple slightly shifted the positions of the headphone jack and dock connector port, there are a few accessories (notably cases and armbands) which are not quite compatible. But I'm sure the major ipod accessory makers are going to update their products very soon.

4 Star Review Apple Makes The Small even Smaller

Strengths:

Smaller profile, Long Battery Life

Weaknesses:

Easy to lose, and carck screen

Posted Oct 13, 2006 - This newest apple creation is a total joy. It can hold double the amount of the previous Nano, and it's Mini style rounded edges give this new iPod an even smaller apperance. A great gift - whether for someone els, or just to treat yourself!!

4 Star Review iPod nano 8GB

Strengths:

battery life is very good

Weaknesses:

wish could have noise cansellation head set.

Posted Dec 13, 2006 - very light weight, downloading music is so easy, multi laungage menu is great, but you need to have protection for the screen otherwise it will scratch out and you won't be able to see screen.

5 Star Review Little. Black. Different.

Strengths:

Small size, large storage, did I say small?

Weaknesses:

Fragile, can't play videos

Posted May 24, 2007 - Ok, the Nano pretty much rocks if what you're looking for is a small MP3 player that holds a decent amount of songs. If you want to store your whole collection or watch videos, obviously this is not for you. H2O Audio makes waterproof headphones and a case for the 2nd Gen Nano so you can do your swimming workout while listening to your tunes! How sweet is that?!

minimal design, capacity

Weaknesses:

Posted Jan 9, 2008 - I just bought this product sixth month ago, It was very well designed and the capacity is quite enough for regular guys. It has no video capability but i dont think its necessary because if i like to watch an episode or film etc. i dont think i like to watch it in its mini screen. Its a really good product, i highly recommend it.
